Hidden Gem of waikiki. Majedtic and beatiful place. Do it after the fall, and follow all paths.

Great hidden gem on the island. Bigger than I expected. Must wear comfortable walking shoes because there are some wild and uphill walks and partially not well maintained. So many kinds of plants and a few are very unusual. Unfortunately many of them are not well labeled.
Appreciate these people who constantly work there to keep this wonderful place.
There is a waterfall and I expected some more water on the day it rained I the morning but it was sort of just trickling. But still worth walking up all the way.

Wonder what they do with fruits growing such as monstera deliciosa and red banana.

Beautiful place with a hiking trail that leads to a waterfall. Lots of amazing plants. There are lots of birds everywhere. Also lots of Geckos and we even saw a Poison Dart Frog.

Nice collection of plants. Birds singing and lush green lawns make it a pleasant experience. Not crowded as the entry is restricted to those with prior reservation. No entry fee. You may donate to help upkeep the place.

Nature lovers, this is a must see. No matter if you are local or a visitor of our island, this has to be one of the best examples of nature at it's best in Hawaii.

The Harold L. Lyon Arboretum is about 200 acres of arboretum and botanical gardens managed by the University of Hawaii at Manoa located at the upper end of Manoa Valley in Hawaii. Much of the Arboretum's botanical splendors consists of an artificial lowland tropical rainforest with numerous trails and small water features. Some years back, a bird show park closed and some of their tropical birds like cockatoos, macaws and other parrots either escaped or were let loose, adding an addition exoticness to the landscape.

Lots of trails with different exotic plants to keep you intrigued. Be sure to apply bug spray as it can be a mosquito haven. Also, expect rain as it is a very wet area. Best to plan on getting muddy, so appropriate attire is best.

Lyon Arboretum offers a pretty fun and easy way to see a lot of Hawaiian animals and plants (native and invasive alike). I especially enjoyed getting to see the myriad birds that frequent the park. Definitely take the time to hike up the waterfall trail and explore the side trails, though you'll want to try and shoot for dry weather when doing so. Overall, it's a great place to hike for a few hours.

Great maintained arboretum with beatiful plants, stunning views on the mountains and a nice hike up to a small waterfall.

Took this beautiful hike in the rain today. It was just amazing. The falls were flowing and stunning. Cant wait to do it in dry weather!

This place is beautiful. I just wish there were slightly more trail marks in the more remote areas. Be prepared for mud and mosquitoes in the side trails, but you can avoid them if you stick to the major paths. There is enough variety in the different garden areas to make several days of exploring.

Nice place to spend the day, we intentially wanted to go to Manoa Falls but it was closed due to dangerous trail, so we decided to hike to a little waterfall here. Very pleasant walk, very kid friendly

You could spend all day at this fascinating place. Not all trails are well marked so if you’re in a hurry, stay on main paths

The mountain backdrop to wonderful mature tropical plants is breathtaking. All types of trails from fairly level and wide gravel ones to bushwacking over stones and routes

Family friendly place to take the kids on a decent and safe trail. Bring your old shoes as it will get muddy.

It's a beautiful place that's great if you want to do a little hiking and be outside. There are lots of interesting plants with information posted along the trails. Parking can be problematic- if you decide to drive all the way up, the road eventually narrows and can only allow one car at a time. Sometimes there's no room on the sides or it's too steep to pull aside. Hikers tend to walk in the middle of the roads, so be careful.

Happened upon this spot by accident.what a happy accident. We enjoyed so much more than Manoa Falls. Less crowded, less muddy, more side trails. Hike at your own pace compared to the cattle hurd at Manoa.

Very beautiful and very affordable. Parking is free at the Arboretum, but watch out for the guy down the road. He acts like you need to pay him, but you dont. If driving, be careful. People are not paying attention.
All of that aside, it is well worth the trip.

One of my favourite places to go on Oahu. Beautiful flora and fauna. Can get a little hot and a lot of the trails are pretty steep. Make sure to bring good shoes as the main trail is paved with loose pebbles, it’s a little tough to walk on with flip flops. Entry is technically free but they do ask for a donation to help with costs, also all visitors need to sign in at the gift shop, and it’s also a good idea to bring some bug spray if you plan on going off the main trail.

Amazing variety of tropical plants on short maintained trails. Ideal for families and those not prepared for true hiking. Hawaiian plant garden and many others. You can download a free app for interactive learning and more.

Incredible place! Make sure you bring an umbrella or raincoat, the Ko‘olau's have a sneaky ability to just start pouring out of nowhere. This place is definitely a must for visitors and long time residents alike. So many beautiful plants and ‘Aihualama is really pretty as well.

This place is incredibly beautiful. Saw a bunch of coockatoos flying around. Even saw a poison dart frog. Just breathing.
