Sushi on plate lunch. What a great idea. Good prices and clean hole in the way place. Take your food and eat in the parking garage.

Had a rainbow roll, nigiri and yaki mandu. All delicious! Wish they were open later for dinner as I'd love to pick some up on the way home!

Wasn’t sure what to expect upon recommendations from others, but this place is very special. Largest/thickest sushi rolls I have ever seen and couldn’t even finish half of one by myself! Absolutely loaded with fish, no stinginess here. Was kind of difficult to find from the street, but the second floor of the shopping center has parking with access from the rear of the building. Prices were beyond reasonable given the portion sizes. Each roll varied from about $12-$16.

It is a very small shop with outdoor dining available, so takeaway is recommended for maximum comfort. The owner requires a face mask and asks for customers to social distance, so it’s really nice for immunocompromised people.

The menu has many options, offering both raw sushi (including nigiri) and cooked or deep fried rolls. The gyoza was incredible and very close to what you could get in Japan. Dare I say, it was better than konbini gyoza. Deep fried, but delicious just the same.

The shop closes promptly at 2pm, but the service was very fast even during the peak of lunch rush. Will definitely be visiting again, and soon!

Located in a strip mall, prices and portions are good.super tasty food.bento box is a lot of food - the rolls are better portions.

The place was a little difficult to find but well worth it. It is in a parking garage which may sound like a red flag but it worked great. The dining area was clean the air was well ventilated so there were no fumes.
The food was great! Everyone in our group liked what they got. I don’t know when the last time was that I didn’t manage to clear my plate, but the portions here are so generous that I didn’t clear my plate.
I would absolutely recommend this place.

I used to go here every day for lunch. To the point the owner knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in and all I had to do was give him my card. I miss this place so much. The food is always fresh and their plating never misses a beat. Its literally a hole-in-the-wall joint, so expect outside seating. I plan on coming back here with all my friends when I visit in 2023

Mr Makoto saw that my buddy and I were hot and weary, and he gave us ice cold waters for free. This guy cares

Great little hole in the wall restaurant. Amazing food and service! I had the fire bridge roll and it was some of the best sushi I've ever had.

Support local! This is an amazing restaurant! The owners are so so sweet and the portions are HUGE. Super fresh food, our new favorite after hike lunch!

One of my favorite casual sushi spots. It's a small spot with epic sized portions and unbeatable customer service! The aunty and uncle that run the eatery are always so attentive and kind. We usually catch boba tea while we wait for our order. As soon as we walk back, everything is ready. And, now that the outdoor seating is opened, uncle even walked all our food out to greet us at one of the tables. My son who is ordinarily shy is always so excited to eat here and waves enthusiastically as we leave. He describes Makoto as the "big sushi place"! A definite must-stop at spot in Aiea.
Pro-Tip: don't skip out on the mandoo. They take a few minutes to cool down but taste is totally worth the wait!

The uncle here really knows how to roll! Sushi here are enormous and packed with more than enough ingredients. Friendly service and tons of parking.

Without a doubt the best sushi on Oahu. Nobu and Jiro Ono should come to Makotos and take some notes. Highly under rated. The hand rolls are 10/10 and make no mistake the rest of the menu will blow your socks off so I suggest only wearing slippers to this establishment.
