Maluaka Beach reviews
16Such a great South Maui beach! This is a little known gem amongst all of the Wailea and Makena beaches. Nice beach area, also lots of grassy places to relax just off the beach. And quite good snorkeling at the south end of this beach (to the left). Definitely worth checking out.
Great beach, lots of sand, some snorkeling. Great grassy area to the south end with shade. Parking is a short walk away on both the north side near Keawalai church and south side of the beach. The Makena Golf & Beach Club indiscretely flanks the beach so it's members also use it.
Beach was very easy to get to and the coral was beautiful. Went snorkeling and saw a turtle and plenty of fish.
Happy place. Second time in Maui and this is our favourite beach. Perfect water with nice waves in the perfect beachy setting. Literal love.
I'll make this quick and simple as we all gotta show off that beach body asap.
Parking is limited but shouldn't be much of a problem. Just park on the side of the street.
Good for swimming
Snorkeling is doable. You'll find fishes for sure, but you'd have to go maybe 100ft from the shore. If you go further, you might get lucky and see more fishes.
Peaceful and calm
And yes, there's a spot for rinsing
Mahalo!
Nice place to relax & chill but I would recommend other beaches for snorkeling - not this. Parking is a bit of a walk and it gets tricky to carry around beach gear - for both north & south. It is a bit of a swim to get to the reef where you can snorkel but it wasn't that clear and I got bit by a tiny jellyfish.
One of my faves beaches, great place to sun and snorkel (please use reef safe sunscreen and snorkel horizontally over coral reefs - sad to see SO MUCH dead coral on the shore), also has bathrooms nearby (not porta potties!) with toilet paper, hand soap and sink with a small changing area. Ample parking within 5 minute walk to beach from lot. Wasn't very crowded and has a beautiful view too! Worth checking out!
Nice clean beach not very busy. However we went for snorkeling, we saw some turtles and an eel but it was very limited terrain features / habitat for sea life which made for a short snorkel adventure.
Good place hanging around on the beach. Not a great spot for snorkeling. You basically have to break the waves first near the shore and then swim near the rocks before seeing reasonable amount of sea creatures. West Maui side near Kaanapali Beach is way better, with calm water and more fishes to see.
NO TURTLES HERE.
And the ocean is not calm at all.
Maybe I got here too late (2pm).
If you are looking for turtles go to Ho'okipa Beach Park to see the turtles (guaranteed) on the beach. Or you can go to black rock beach to snorkel with turtles.
A family fav. Can be rough if weather is playing in but snorkeling straight out the south and north is great. Watch a few wave sets to find easiest entry point. Park in the no-fee public lot (NOT the posted construction lot) if you can't score an up close slot. Drop gear off at turnaround if not parking close. And, reef-safe sunscreen only please.
If you are coming here for snorkeling, it’s an okay spot, but not the best if you’re looking for colorful reef and plentiful marine life. However if you’re complementing your beach day with snorkeling then this is good enough. Facing the ocean, head to the right near the rocks and you’ll find a nice area. Don’t get too close to the jagged rocks near the shore. If the water is getting unclear then you’re probably too close because water is crashing against the rocks.
Great beach. Fantastic snorkeling with variety of fish and turtles on the south end of the beach. South parking is closer to the beach.
Beautiful beach. Not too crowded. Can snorkel here and see some reefs that border the beach that have various fish. Easy to see sea turtles even just coming in the waves from shore. Can swim near them when snorkeling as well. Easier to find them in the shallow water. Plenty of parking and free restrooms.
Great beach and super family friendly water. Surf looks high at times but water breaks gently. Water is clear and clean and one of the few beaches with clean sand. No rocks or pebbles to navigate around or cut your feet. Even though it's called turtle town, we didn't see any turtles.
Hidden treasure of Maui. The beach where it rarely has big waves. Fantastic snorkeling option. Just be cautious for turtles swimming from one side to another. Dream spot for kids. Tested several times in July. Best to show up as early as you can. Great parking near the beach. Never been crowded while other beaches were packed.
