I recently went to the ER for a ruptured appendix. I cannot express enough how thankful I am to the ER team, the team that handled my surgery, and the aftercare nurse's during my stay. Big Mahalo's to you all!

I got unbelievably bad care at this hospital while on vacation. I think the PA -not a doctor- thought I was drug seeking. I could have done that back in California. I was in EXCRUCIATING PAIN, which caused me to rebook my flight back to CA three days early. They pushed on my back and said - "yeah it's out" no x-rays, no shots, no care, essentially. A month later I had a fusion of my back to the tune of $127,000 dollars. Thanks Maui Memorial - Thanks for NOTHING. You ruined my vacation - GOD HELP anyone who actually has to get medically treated here. The PA who treated me in the ER is incompetent, at best, negligent at worst. I'm leaning toward negligent - because he could have cared less. Good luck getting medical care on Maui. Jack

I told them I was suicidal and didn’t trust myself being alone and they let me go within a couple hours. I now am not sure if I’m going to wrap my car around a pole.

5 STARS for the nurses. For what they go through, they deserve my utmost respect. Went twice in a 3 day period and the way they treated me with humanity speaks a lot about their work ethic. Hats off to the local nurses, you all made me feel like I wasn’t alone in my time of uncertainty, frustration and sometimes sadness. I wish I could come back and give each and every one of you a warm loving hug.

My family and I recently vacationed in Maui. A day after arriving, I found myself in the ER (brought by ambulance) with severe abdominal pain. I was ultimately diagnosed with a perforated bowel and was hospitalized for 5 days. I felt very well cared for from the moment I entered the ER. There were multiple nurses attending to me and tests/results seemed to move rather quickly. My diagnosis usually requires surgery, however, the surgeon, Dr. Hamzeh, discussed all of my options with me, and I decided on conservative management (IV antibiotics and monitoring). My hope was to stabilize and return home for any required surgery. I was very impressed that Dr. Hamzeh took the time to explain my options in detail and to allow me to be a part of the decision making process. I was again well cared for once I was admitted to the third floor. The nurses were all very genuine and quick to respond to my needs as a patient. I was also assigned to a case manager (thank you, Phil Velasco, RN!) to make sure that I had all of my records before leaving the hospital. Such a small gesture that saves so much time for the patients. I have zero complaints about Maui Memorial Medical Center. Thank you to all who cared for me during my time in need. Drs. Cho, Hamzeh and Novoselsky, nurses Ariel, Faith and Emmett (and others I'm forgetting, sorry) and all of the nurses aides. You are all wonderful!

As visitors from out of state, pregnant with our first child, we could not have felt more welcome and professionally cared for during a visit to the ER over concerns of dehydration and travel fatigue. The staff is amazing, attentive, articulate, and thorough. We especially appreciated the sonographer, Laney, who was so thoughtful and provided us with the most informative ultrasound we’ve received through our entire pregnancy.

Can not believe how lame the security and attendant to the emergency room are. I could have a person dead in the car at the entrance and they don’t even check if anything happened.

Everybody was very nice and kind. The doctor was competent and knew what to do in my case. However, the medical equipment and the facility itself looked a bit outdated and did not have the latest technological standard (but of course I can’t expect that from an hospital on an island). I came there in the middle of the night and everything took very long.
All in all, they helped me very well with my problem and I was happy I went there but you can’t expect a very modern and chic hospital there.

Our daughter broke her arm while on vacation. We rushed her to MMC where they performed emergency surgery due to the nature of the break (and the fact that we had a 10 hour flight ahead of us).

Everyone, and I mean, everyone, from the security guards when we pulled up to the ER, to the utterly amazing nurses and CNAs, the surgeon and PA, even the folks in the Records Department.everyone was amazing!

Can't thank them enough, fantastic team! They should be very proud, exactly what medicine should be!

Absolutely the worst hospital I've ever been to. Visited them to get a COVID test, and got billed for about $1600 (Now they sent almost $600 to debt collection.) They also refused to give any itemized bill. Just took a look at the other reviews and I'm not the only one. Will start speaking to attorneys soon, and I won't be surprised if one day this hospital show up in the news with a class action lawsuit.

The services provided were amazingly fast. What I remember were staff who explained what they were doing and why. I hope the payment of my bill goes as smooth as the care I received.

Had to have ER care after a cat attack
The minute I walked in the staff was wonderful.
The Dr who cared fo me. Scott.was so nice and funny.
I'm a retired nurse, so I am very critical to care recieved.
Very positive (unfortunate) experience.
Thank you

This Hospital will over charge for even minor services. Pretty much robbery due to near monopoly as they are one of the few emergency service facilities available on Maui

If I could leave zero stars I would. Two separate visits and no answers is already frustrating enough but then I have been billed three times incorrectly. This has been going on for over a year and I have overpaid and am so beyond frustrated. I’ve spent hours on the phone and overpaid thousands of dollars and have not had any resolution.

We were blessed with our third child born at MMMC at the end of 2022 and have received the same treatment with all of our children throughout the years with professional and superior service from the wonderful nurses and doctors at Labor and Delivery (pre and post). We are absolutely thankful and grateful for how well they have taken cared of our babies and my lovely wife. Mahalo

P. S. The kaukau from the cafeteria is ono too and affordable.

Worst ER internet world. Been waiting for two days to remove pressure on stomach. Drs.who perform this procedure went home at 4 yesterday, I was here from 3. Today came back at 10am, still waiting, it’s 12: 23pm. I understand the triage process.if you have fluid build up and are extremely uncomfortable.you don't count? Wow, this is a ER in Wailuku, wow?
