Mr Ojisan Neo Bar & Sushi reviews
18The best thing there is the chirashi. It has a great assortment of sashimi/raw fish, and it's only $27.for now. The draft beer selection is weak, and the glasses are small. The best deal is getting a pitcher, but again, you have to like what they have on draft. The servers were nice and pleasant but the service was sub par. They bus the tables real quick but no one filled our water once or allowed us to order another round of drinks. Sit at the bar or sushi bar for better service. The atmosphere is loud and not intimate. It is difficult to sustain meaningful conversations here.
They call out “Irashiai mase” very loud, I appreciate that, but the service is kind of weak. Maybe it was just tonight.
After we got the main dish, they kind of just left us forever. I was trying to get a beer… trying to get a check.
Tempura a little fishy smelling.just a little.
With all the excellent choices of Japanese restaurants in this town… I was not so impressed.
Mr. Ojisan is a staple in our eating out routine. We've eaten here on the regular and just can't say enough good things about it. We've enjoyed everything on the menu that we've tried. Love the food, love the staff, love the ambiance. Sashimi is always super fresh, the rolls are fun and filling. Always makes me think of my time living in Japan. Kudos and keep it up, Mr. Ojisan!
Good food but once served, poor follow-up! I had to ask for the check. It wasn't busy at all
Great service - it's a little dark from the front outside, but don't let it's appearance keep from dining here. There is parking in the entrance in the back, but it's not well marked.
Fresh sushi and quick attentive service.
Assortment of sashimi was a good value if you like raw fish. Squid, ahi, salmon, and Hamachi. Beautiful presentation.
Tempura platter had 3 pieces of shrimp and some vegetables.
First time ever having strawberry on a sushi roll. Something different but not sure if I'd order that again.
Wr order a pizza dish too. I really liked it.
Spider roll with thin wrapper was a nice take on a roll also.
Coffee jello with bailey's to finish a nice meal.
Wonderful family-friendly restaurant with a variety of reasonably priced food and drink options. Service was excellent. I’d highly recommend the Wafu Steak!
Monday, dinner, 4 people, restaurant was nearly full but no wait for a table. Service was so nice and so fast I couldn't believe it. All the food was presented well and delicious. The fish and shrimp tasted fresh and clean. The oysters were creamy. Anything fried was perfectly crispy. Best miso soup of my life here and I make my own so this is very humbling! So many wonderful flavors in one sitting. Look how cute they made everything! Don't miss it.
I do miss the original place on Kapahulu. This location is a decent place. Overall the decor has always deterred me. The space, decor and color scheme just doesn't seem inviting. Just doesn't match but don't let that deter you. Menu is nice, service very friendly but inconsistent. Sushi boat is nice but not a wow factor. Seems like you could only eat the wagyu beef as there weren't any other beef selections listed. Tried to ask sushi chef questions but they were very focused on what was in front of them. Overall, food is good but didn't fascinate. I will try and give it another look one day. Spent $600+ but just didn't perceive the value.
The service was excellent. I ordered the dozen oysters and that was really good. I also got the sushi boat and that was so-so. The sushi selection was nothing special and the boat costed $98. The fried shrimp was just ok. The jumbo shrimp tempura was pretty good and big as described.
This is a really nice place! Sushi platters from other pics look fantastic, but I came for the mackerel (my favorite). While it's not shioyaki, the soy sauce or whatever salty sauce they provided did the trick and it was tasty, flaky, and oily just how I like it ^^ Absolutely cannot beat the price! Flight of sake also extremely good and great price! 10/10 would absolutely recommend. Take friends here! Very nice interior, clean, friendly, spacious. Like a family restaurant combined with a bar. Saw some tables that were reserved.not sure if it's necessary but heads up if you have a group or coming well after opening. Also heard they have karaoke.
Cool space if a little sparse inside. Still feels like it's a new restaurant figuring things out. Fish was good but not amazing. Staff was very nice.
Customer service was good. There’s this one lady that talks super loud and it’s kind of startling, she should really tone that sh*t down. The lights are unattractive because it’s unnecessarily f*cking bright, they even put foil on the light bulbs to make it brighter. It’s definitely over priced for a tacky place with flimsy tables placed all around. The food was not the best but I guess it’s somewhere to go. It was dead on a Friday night. Nothing tasted unique and tasted bland/boring. The ankimo was spongy, not fresh and my stomach hurts as I was waken up and writing this the next early morning. There’s a few parking spots behind the building. I’m most likely won’t come back but at least I gave this place a try!
Oh, there was a sugar daddy and baby sitting next to me and it was hilarious to actually see it with my own eyes, lol.
Great atmosphere. Filled with music and conversation. Open space with a sushi bar and drinks. Wait staff was great. Recommend reservations. Parking on the street and in the rear of the restaurant.
Friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Pork Katsudon that came with Mac Salad, Miso Soup, Tsukemono and Tamago, as well as a refreshing and tasty cold noodle.and all for $14? You cannot beat that.
5 STARS! Oh my god, everything on this menu deserves a place in heaven. The Wafu Steak brought so much joy to my mouth and body. If I ever have an option to pick my last meal this would be a main part of that meal. I’ve never had a steak so beautiful and amazing in my life. Next- The chicken katsu! So so juicy. Combined with the katsu sauce and wow my mouth was singing with joy. I would eat this everyday if I could. The sushi may have also been the best I ever had! And last but not least, the appitizers! Tofu lightly grilled to perfection. If I could give this restaurant 1000 stars I would! Can’t be beat!
A nice little establishment that serves Japanese cuisine. Limited items on the menu but what they make is done very well. A good selection of alcoholic beverages and sake to try also. Unlike the previous restaurant, on Kapahulu, it now has a more bar like feel. Still a place to enjoy tasty Japanese food.
The wafu steak was overdone (and I’d prefer the option of a finer cut), but the mashed cauliflower and onions made it packed with flavor.can’t go wrong with the chicken katsu, and the lava cake is a great way to top it off.japanese beer for a good price too.they got good taste in music vids on the TVs
