Naupaka Terrace Restaurant, Lihue HI

It’s as though there goal was to make the worst food on the island. Dry, over cooked, under season & dressed, not to mention overpriced.

It says they close at 9. If you call them to confirm at 8: 30, they’ll tell you the last table they’ll seat is at 8: 45. Seems completely reasonable. If you then show up before 8: 40 looking for a quick bowl of soup and focaccia bread (since it’s not on their to-go menu) as you asked about on the phone, you get: “sorry we’re done seating people. ” They still had a few tables finishing up eating and plenty of empty tables set up. Super disappointing.

I guess be advised it’s not the place for anything other than a meal during earlier evening hours. Don’t bother after 8: 30 even if they confirm minutes prior that they’ll seat you. Maybe try another resort.

It was too expensive for what you get. The crab cake plate had 3 patties that were tasty but there was a white sauce that detracted from the wild rice and peas. The Duo Ahi Poke and Ceviche was a strange pairing. The Ceviche was too sour and lacked heat that is usual for this dish. The Tuna Poke was better tasting. Both were served in separate bowls with some deep fried wontons on the side. The roast chicken was dry. The potatoes on the side lacked flavour. And, we had the pork belly which was so overcooked and dry, I had to send it back. Pork belly should not be dry like that. It needs to be slow roasted with a Bain Marie so that it does not lose moisture. Omg I feel the chef was not a chef but a cook. Possible staff shortage or something.

The only redeeming dishes were the desserts. The passion fruit flan, chocolate layer cake with mousse and chocolate ganache icing, and the coconut tart were great tasting. I suspect they were probably made offsite because it could not have been the same cook who made dinner.

I love it here at Kauai Beach Resort, and the restaurant was great I like to eating local food there.) Nice place.)

We were kind of bummed to get there and find out they discontinued their dinner buffet (we understand cause covid. Our last visit was 2017). But our dinner, service and experience was still worth the visit - 10/10 for sure My husband got the lamb rack, maui onion soup, ceviche and poke starter while I got the New York Strip Steak and Potatoes. Everything was delicious, cooked to our liking and presented very beautifully. Our server was attentive, not only communicating with my husband and I - but our kids as well. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed their Mac n Cheese. Its not your traditional dish, but our picky eaters couldn't get enough. Our server even gave us fish food to feed the Koi in their ponds outside. We highly recommend a visit, you won't regret it!

The staff was friendly but the food was pretty bad quality, especially considering the prices. No flavor. We were staying at the resort and it would have been nice to have decent food but we only ate here once and never went back.

These folks couldn’t get an order right if their lives depended on it.
Unfortunately, I get stuck here because it’s where my company puts us up for work. We’re basically trapped at a place with mediocre food and every single week they get my order wrong. This morning they charged me for an entire meal I couldn’t eat because they kept getting it wrong and brought food I cannot eat. How hard is it to make a vegetable omelette? Omelette and vegetables. Seems simple enough.
Usually I just deal with it and pick around the stuff I don’t want.
2 weeks ago, I waited almost 20 minutes to get my bill after finishing. I asked 3 different people to send my waitress for the bill. Ended up just paying up front as I didn’t have time to wait any longer. There were only 2 other people in the whole restaurant at the time.

Had breakfast couple of times during our stay here. They don’t offer breakfast buffet anymore. The food and service both were good. They open at 6am which is great for early risers.

For 2 person, it would cost you around $50 on an average.

Horrbile service. Make you wait for table, when a bunch of tables are open. Closed Sun -Tue. Which were most of our stay. The food is mediocre. The servers and kitchen are super slow on top of being extremely overpriced. $7 for single shot mediocre cappuccino style

Great service - extremely attentive. I had the lamb and it was cooked perfectly. The shirt ribs are killer. Appetizers were on the smaller size (for the price). Reservations were recommended but there were quite a few tables open.

Great resort restaurant. Enjoyed Ube Waffles and Acai bowl at breakfast (had twice, once was better than the other, maybe it depends on who is making) and we had dinner one evening which everyone was pleased with. Their staff is nice and even let our kiddos have some fish food for the koi pond beside the outdoor seating area!

Breakfast with a gorgeous view, each day I ordered something different, I think the breakfast burrito was my favorite. The waffles were great too, oh and the coffee was delicious!

Very nice dine in restaurant close to Lihue. The ambiance is great (outside seating has ocean views), the food was excellent and the service amazing.

Dinner was good and tasty. Waiter was so nice, helpful, and friendly. He gave our 6 year old fish food to feed the koi after he had finished his dinner.
Lilikoi cheesecake is made in house by the pastry chef and is SO FREAKING GOOD.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the experience at this hotel restaurant. Food was very good and well prepared for dinner. Came back for breakfast and that was just okay. The avocado toast was avocado bread until we sent it back and had them actually toast it.

I own a condo at Kauai Beach villas that I rent out when I travel for over 20 years. This restaurant is a hotel restaurant but it is also a warm and charming experience with good food and good service. The breakfast is always excellent and the breakfast buffet and the people tending the buffet are always warm and friendly with an aloha spirit. Their weekend buffets are very good and their regular food is always well above average. Whether you're staying at the Kauai Beach resort or another location this restaurant is worth bopping into when you're traveling by. It's not inexpensive it's a hotel restaurant but you will a food quality and service experience worthy of a mahalo.

Overpriced for dinner. Great breakfast for reasonable price and lilikoi cheesecake great but both our entrees were $45 ea and not much better than you would get at a high end chain restaurant or similar level. Very meh. With lots of options in lihue or Kapaa I would rather go out for dinner or try the other restaurant Shutters. Seared ahi was completely over cooked - all gray - no red or even pink on it. It says seared on menu and that is how ahi is meant to be served and they botched what could have been an awesome cut of fish. The udon ramen was decent with good broccoli but that was really only source of flavor on the dish. Similarly the local fresh catch marlin in beurre Blanc didn’t taste like anything. Very bland. Marlin can be amazing and this tasted like it could have been any basic white fish for a $45 plate. Onion soup was good.

Some of the best food I've ever had. Wait staff was kind and patient. Had the Hawaiian chili garlic shrimp and it was amazing! Also had a side of gruyere polenta and it was delicious as well. Wife had the catch of the day (marlin) and it was the best fish we've had.
