Night Runner Sport Fishing

Cancelled our booking because he was on the water with another client that wanted to stay out longer. Blamed it on us which was totally false. More money for him if he didn’t have to run in and get us is all it amounted to. Think twice about booking with him. We simply asked questions because two people are not big boaters and we needed some information for them. I had him on speaker phone and the four of us were present to hear his responses. He called back within five minutes and in very abrupt and rude manner and canceled us. The call lasted 20 seconds and he hung up. All four of us present could not believe how he presented himself. I have since booked with another charter.

Had a great time with Shawn, Arthur, and Meetch. The fishing was tough this week. They all worked hard to get us on fish. We tried multiple spots and different techniques to get bites. We'd love to fish with the crew again

Shawn and Arthur are great. Booked a trip with my family and they adjusted the trip to be kid friendly. Great with kids. Would definately book with them again.

Sawyer and Arthur were great. Fun to be around, knowledgeable, and skilled. Totally went out of their way to make it a good experience. Shared a ton of knowledge about the island and made us feel welcome. And of course we caught lots of fish!

Sean and Sawyer were friendly and dedicated to making our experience fun. We ended up catching our first marlin with this crew and it was incredible. They handled it smoothly and coached us through what to expect. Would highly recommend this trip.good communication prior to trip to and they were well organized on board.

Was not happy with our fishing trip with night runner Kahlua Kona Hawaii. The crew lied to us on not have enough time drop bottom fish as we had close 2hours left trip.they also as caught 1 fish in an area, left that area completely, stay close shore would not did not go out far like other boats did on our 10 hour trip. And other boats caught blue Marlin, and we were the first boat leave hourbour. They jacked the boat speed during our last 2 hours so fast nothing would bite our lines. My group and I are very un happy.

Good time out with the family. Reeled in a Marlin, Spearfish, Ono, and a Mahi-Mahi. Captain and crew were knowledgeable and we got to keep some fish to take home.

Awesome day of fishing, my wife and I both had our best fishing experience in Hawaii from multiple islands and many years of fishing. Shawn and Arthur were professional - and highly knowledgeable of the waters off Kona. Between the 2 of us we caught 16 fish including a large mahi-mahi and big eye tuna. After securing live bait for the trip (key component) we spent an exciting day reeling in fish and took a few back to the condo for our best dinners of the week. Highly recommend Night Runner and Capt Shawn!

Couldn’t recommend the Night Runner more. We were in an area of fish with a bunch of other charter boats and we were the only ones catching anything. Had a 16 fish day and caught and released a ~500lb blue marlin in an 8 hour trip. Even if we didnt catch anything the crew were great and worked very hard to get us fish. The electric reel for vertical jigging tuna was a blast and popping for decent sized yellowfin was amazing.

Arthur and Jackson are amazing! They are super professional, helpful, and informative. I could tell they tried really hard to make sure we had a memorable fishing trip. We got a 220-pound blue marlin and several mahi-mahi. Go book a trip with them if you are looking for the BEST in Kona.

I highly recommend Nightrunner Sportfishing to anyone that is serious about fishing. Captain Shawn works very hard to put you on fish. I will always jump on this boat whenever I visit Kona, Hawaii. Fishing in Kona is not a “for sure” thing, but there is always a chance to catch fish of a lifetime at any moment. I noticed a few grumpy reviews, but I would like to disagree. I have done charters in Cabo San Lucas, Honolulu, and Kona. And I fish the long range boats out of San Diego every year. Nightrunner is always going to be my first choice in Kona.

My husband is from Florida where he has been fishing his entire life and has never caught anything as big as this! We had a great time with his family fishing on this boat. The guys are courteous, professional and down to earth. They really know what they are doing, and we will definitely be back! Mahalo

We came to visit our son and his wife, my husband and my son love fishing, so we booked a fishing trip. It was the best fishing trip ever. These guys know what they are doing

Worst experience of my life, basically we went on an 8 hour boat ride without catching any fish. Everything was set up to fish but they did not let us touch any of the fishing poles. Such a waste of time and money, I do not recommend this captain at all!

Worst fishing trip ever been on. These guys don’t really know what there doing. Couldn’t even catch the bait fish! Spent 6 hours just watching them fish while they didn’t even really say a word!

DO NOT GO HERE! I’m telling you try another company!

This was the 6th ocean fishing charter I was on and easily the best fishing day I ever had, maybe ever will have. Besides the unbelievable good luck we had fishing, the captain and first mate were friendly and boat was great. It was long, wide, and clean. The diesel engines were quiet and you could comfortable visit with friends.

You do have to bring your own drinks and snacks which wasn't a big deal, and usually when it's included on other boats, its very basic food and bev.

The prices were very reasonable. We ended up catching 8 tunas and 3 bill fish. Part of their income is from fish sales at the wholesale level and they're reluctant to cut the bill fish for us to eat but did send us home with a lot of tuna Once it's cut you can't sell it. There is no way we could have eaten it all anyways and we're able to get some from the neighboring boat to try some. The short nose spearfish did taste phenomenal!

I would suggest them anytime and do not only rate them from reviews, visit their Facebook page or trip advisor and they have many more reviews and higher average! They are a hidden gem.
