Oahu SPCA Veterinary Clinic and Animal Shelter reviews
13 Honestly very disappointed we just moved to the island and I applied for a fur baby and was denied. My application was denied because I had to rehome my dog before I moved here without knowing the details denied me. Judging my situation without knowing why or how hard of a decision it was for us. We are a loving family that took very good care of our dog. Many animals in need and I wonder how many are denied good homes due to poor judgment.
Just sent an email saying I was not allowed to adopt from them. So sad my kids are really heartbroken after we moved and had to give up a family member was looking forward to adopting.
If you are looking to add a fur baby to your life, come here to the Oahu SPCA. They have so many beautiful pups and cats. And the staff really cares about the animals.
All about making money not taking care of your pets! First we tried to adopt a cat, paid $200 and brought it back with 6 hours because it wasn’t getting along with our existing animals. They would not refund us.
This time, we had no choice but to get our kitten fixed with their service. I paid upfront $100 total at petco for the service. When picking up my kitten they wouldn’t let me leave without paying an additional $25.
These guys are all about making money of pet owners. They are not doing it for love of animals.
I adopted my cat from here and she is absolutely wonderful. I’ve also spayed another one of my fur babies here for a great price, definitely recommend!
They are awesome and caring. Understaffed as most volunteer locations but upbeat and awesome. Thank you all for the care you give to our fur babies!
An absolutely wonderful organization who truly cares for the animals of Hawaii. Every year they save hundreds of lives, provide free medical care to them, and find them new forever homes. In addition, they provide invaluable services to the community by offering low cost vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives, wellness services and spaying/neutering. Thank you for all that you do.
I wish there had been someone to answer the my phone. Once i speak to someone who Dr. Sebutgs doctors, does anyone know?
Their volunteers are great their adoption process sucks. I went specifically to petco on the day of their adoption even because the dog I was interested in was going to be there. Filled out an application online, went in, was ready to adopt, got approved then it went down hill. I went to my truck to grab my card to pay and I was informed that my current dog had to meet this one before I could take him home. Okay, no problem. They’d take my adoption fee ($350) and hold the dog until I brought mine in. After being approved to adopt, they were seeing if the day I had available would work for them. For whatever reason they decided to look at my application again (different lady from the first). Asked me about the pets I had and I told her I had 2 cats as well. She then asked me if they were fixed and I said no. I was then told that I cannot adopt the dog because my cats were not fixed…… I told her they were indoor cats and she told me “yeah, but they could get out and breed with other cats”. First off all, they are my cats, not theirs. They can’t tell people what to do with their current pets. What if I was a breeder? Second of all, she was petty much saying that I was irresponsible and couldn’t keep my cats in. I own a purebred Persian. He is not getting out and hasn’t the entire time I’ve had him (4yrs). I also told the lady that they should put that on their website. She told me they don’t do it because people would lie. How about they put it on so they don’t waste peoples time? ! And honestly, during the entire time I was there, they were more concerned about the people who wanted the kittens….
I got two of my cats neutered here and they did a excellent job they were pretty weak after the surgery but they both healed so quickly I highly recommend them.
I am not sure the Oahu chapter of this organization is very legit. You would hope that an organization that claims they are advocates for animals are actually caring for the animals…But my experience has shown me that this is not the case.
In addition. Their facilities are unkempt - where are all the donated monies going? I have donated money many times, even bringing towels and sheets for them, as requested. But yet the facility is sad. Poor animals!
Seems a little suspicious and the level of care is minimal. Qualified doctors are not always on staff, at all locations - beware of Ewa Beach petco “doctor! ” May as well pay a few bucks more and go to qualified, caring, and loving vet.
We just wanted to adopt a cat twice because we missed our pets back in the mainland, but they gave us a hard time and denied us twice. But thankfully we went somewhere else and found a beautiful kitten and we love him so much. Thank you Oahu SPCA for wasting our time.
My pup the day of & 3 days after he took the vaccine. I’m not sure why only my younger dog was affected so badly but unfortunately he died 3 days after his first vaccine from Oahu SPCA.
Well where do I start? No more free spay and neuter for ferral cats no more 1st shots for ferral cats no more chip I'D for ferral cats I had to pay 60 bucks for a ferral kitten to be neutered. No government funding anymore. And they charge extra if a cat is in heat $ 40 to 50 bucks more. I wish this state was fair and take care of the ferral problem. I mean if they can do it for the chickens then maybe they can figure out something for the cats. So maybe the Human Society is a better choice? There harsh also?
