Osaka Oden Izakaya Kawano reviews
14Very yummy food exactly what you expect from a good Japanese restaurant. Love the atmosphere with Love Generation music playing. My two-year-old loves the food and our server.
I absolutely adore this izakaya. I don't know what happened a year ago for it to get such dismal reviews, but you can trust that the staff here have been dedicated to rectifying those complaints.
I first tried this place last year and got the Oden and I could not stop thinking about it since. Came back to Oahu for the holidays this year and this was the number one place on my list I wanted to take my husband to.
It did take a while to get through to make reservations over the phone but I started calling as soon as they opened, so needless to say they were busy but it's worth getting reservations ahead of time so I didn't mind.
The staff here are so polite and on top of things. Even though there were a couple of big parties, they took care of us right away and got our orders done. They let us know beforehand over the phone that it might take a while for the food because of the parties, but the drinks came out fast so it was nice to just chill and have a chance to relax.
The food here is phenomenal. This is my favorite place for oden. The fish here is also one of the best on the island. The tonpeiyaki was delicious. I will come here every chance I get whenever I'm back home.
Parking: There is a parking lot in the building.
It's an izakaya that serves food until late at night, so it's perfect for when you have nowhere to go late at night. The restaurant is small, so it's good for small groups of people. The food is average.
-Yuzu Soda: It's carbonated and has a yuzu flavor, but it's not strong.
-Okunomatsu & Tenbu Jyunmai: It was sake and it was clean.
-Fried Oyster: It was the most delicious thing I ordered. It was also good to eat as a snack.
-TonPeiYaki: It’s like omurice. The sauce is okonomiyaki sauce + mayonnaise.
-Takowasabi: I don’t really remember. Just taco wasabi flavor?
Great food. One of my best sushi experiences that's not an omakase, and I've eaten at a lot of sushi restaurants across the USA.
They were kind enough to keep my drink for me in their fridge while we ate as they didn't allow outside drinks (sorry we didn't catch that lol). Yakisoba was good
Wanted to try this place but FYI: kitchen closes at 12am. And it’s located on the first floor, hidden behind the elevators.
Place is really small and got completely full on a Sunday night, so make reservations. However they're open until 1am, which is a big plus in my book. Also, okonomiyaki is no longer on the menu, but the tonpeiyaki is fantastic and close enough to the same thing. Overall we loved the food and the service and would recommend this to anyone, especially if you're looking for late night eats.
Top notch service, food, and authentic atmosphere. Honolulu is so lucky to have this gem! Some items are pricy but this place is worth it!
Hidden gem. Food is amazing and great price for the quality and taste of the food. Reminds me of the amazing food I had in Japan. Highly recommend. Make reservations if possible. Limited seating and it can get busy.
Great food, awesome service, friendly environment! My favorite dish? Okonomiyaki! Try it, you'll love it!
Best Japanese in Waikiki. Very fresh Sashimi, friendly and very attentive service. Reservation is high recommended because seating is kind of limited.
Waited over an hour for our overpriced food then when we were discussing to leave was told the food is 3mins away as waiter points out "its literally being made". People that weren't even there when we came in had already finished eating when our food only took "3mins to be made".
It was hard to find at first glance, but it was so delicious! The staff were very friendly and the tompe yaki was delicious. Be sure to eat those egg rollsㅠㅠㅠ
