After booking this hotel online and seeing all the pictures, my husband and I were soooooo looking forward to staying at this hotel.until we actually arrived. NOWHERE online did it inform us that the ENTIRE hotel was under construction and all the lovely LOUD noise that comes with that. We were charged 40 dollars a day to use the pool (even if we didn't want to!) and the whole pool area was boarded up and only 1/3 of it was usable. They only have 2 elevators that allow only 4 people to ride at a time.so the wait to get up to your room was ridiculous, and at times were almost an hour wait (we were on the 17th floor)! If you decided to rent a car.get ready to pay 40 bucks a day to park it, because the closest place to park on your own is about a half a mile away! The only nice thing I can say about this place is that the view of the ocean is amazing - picture attached (if you can get an ocean view that is), but at almost 400 bucks a night to stay here. I would recommend you stay somewhere else until they finish remodeling the whole place!

Rooms newly renovated. Very nice. Still lots of construction and noise in the main Areas as of end of July 2021. Trumps hotel is right in front. Win win?

The good thing is our room is spaceous and clean.
It's probably feeling a little more spaceous than it actually is because there is furniture missing. The room has only a single chair and no usable desk/table - just two beds with a shared nightstand and a big console with the tv on it. According to the manager on duty that's the modern style and you can ask for more chairs at least.

The access to the "beach" is an odd alley with pipes that looks more like a maintainance/staff entrance. That might be because they're doing renovations in the common areas and large parts are walled of with plywood.
To get to the ocean tower you have to walk thru the pool area because of that.

The hotel is technically beach front but the
"beach" is not what the pictures promised. Most of it has eroded away. What's left is a small, steep, triangular area that's protected by a concrete wall.
You can dip your toes into the water but that's about it. If you want a beach you'll have to walk about 15 minutes thru the city.

I was also not impressed with the single restaurant on the property: We had breakfast, dinner, and drinks there. The coffee was so bad I left it despite paying $5 for it. The pancakes were not bad though. The Cesar salad dressing was bland and watery. The drinks were standard cocktails they tried to give an individual touch. The individual touch is they sweetened everything up beyond recognition.

The amenities are limited, not sure how much of it is because of the renovation but there is no guest laundry, no ATM, no kiddie pool/babysitting, no spa and only one restaurant that closes at 9pm.

All in all it's a clean place, the staff is friendly. It's just not worth $3000 a week.
It's probably a good place if you want to do a couple days of shopping because there are ton of malls around.

This hotel is absolutely stunning. Cleanliness, amenities, location are all perfect. My husband and I stayed her for part of our honeymoon and it was by far the best experience. First off, we would just like to give a HUGE shoutout to Donna at the front desk. She was extremely efficient and helpful checking us in and even called up to our room to see if we were happy. Yes Donna, we are extremely happy! You are so awesome! All other staff has also been overly welcoming and has made us feel so special. I hope your bosses are able to see this because we cannot thank you enough. We will more than definitely be staying her for future Hawaiian vacations.

My stay there was not a pleasant one. First of all the whole first floor is under construction. There was only one restaurant and that was poolside. The only upside was that cleaning staff was very friendly. I wouldn't was waste my time or money staying there.

After a less than pleasant traveling experience in the Unfriendly Skies, the welcoming, friendly and professional staff made us quickly realize it was worth all the troubles to get here. Thank you to all the Outrigger Reef personnel. Room and bed was great! Only downside was the current remodeling but did not detract from the stay.

Stayed here for nine nights. They were still doing renovations when we got there BUT the staff is great and very accommodating.

This hotel is currently being under major renovation. It was a big surprise to my family and me upon arrival, however, we thought it would just be one area of the hotel, not the entire 1st floor. My daughter has asthma and for that reason, we couldn't stay at the pool or have dinner o lunch at the restaurant by the pool. It was extremely frustrating for all of us, especially for my kids. I tried to contact Americanexpresstravel.com, but they couldn't help us (which was very disappointing). The blue construction walls are like a maze and the construction noise from our balcony took away from the relaxing beach stay we were hoping for. The staff was excellent, however, every time we stopped by the activities desk there was a long line and only one person working. My other huge concern was wear mask wasn't required at this place and the carpet in our room for sure needs to be replaced as soon as possible.

Great room! We had a phenomenal view of Diamondhead, and we watched sea turtles from our balcony the first morning. The bed was very comfy. I wanted to steal the pillow, but settled on photos of the labels. The Club Lounge was fun, but the food was hit or miss. However, the pork sandwiches were amazing! Friendly staff made this a great hideaway when you just wanted a snack and something cool to drink. I would return to this hotel.

Hotel was very clean. No free wifi. Get ready to pay $40 Per Night of parking and $40 for valet parking mandatory! Beach area is very small. No activities nearby, no jet ski. Makesure you book all activities ahead of time hotel has no hook ups and everything sold out months in advance. The staff is very nice but not worth the money.

Even with the renovations going on, we had a fantastic stay. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful! The Kani Ka Pila Grill was some of the best food we had in Honolulu. Looking forward to seeing the finished product… Hope to be back soon!

Would have been a much more pleasurable experience had there been no construction. The beach in front of the hotel is so small as to be non existant. As a waikiki property, I expected more.

I and many of my family members stay at this Outrigger because it is off the beaten path and is so comfortable. I booked it based on my memories and didn't realize the true extent of the construction that was taking place. The nice restaurant, gone. The peaceful days at the pool during the week, gone. The lobby area with stores, gone. Having the fitness center available when you needed it, gone, and making a reservation hours ahead for the center across the street and having to wait for the registration desk to get the card. This was our first trip in two years and the best parts were the first class flights to and from the island. I have fond memories of this location and we stuck it out while we were here, but I wished I would have paid more to get a better hotel on this trip. I'm not sure I'll be back here again.
