Paepae o He'eia reviews
5An amazing experience, the work that is being done here is so inspiring
An ancient Hawaiian fishpond that was built 800 years ago and recently restored about 20 years ago. The very few traditional fishponds left. The staff were extremely passionate in the work they do and restoring Hawaiian culture and educating the public. If you're visiting, you can either do an educational tour or volunteer on their community days. Do not expect to purchase fish commercially here as it is mostly still in restorative process so the fishpond is mostly educational. I recommend that you consider coming here if you're interested to learn about sustainable fishing in Hawaii. We had Keli'i, the co-founder and Assistant CEO guiding us and he's a great speaker. Mahalo team!
Malama to all da people workin' to retrieve an' expand as much of kanaka maoli traditions into the Modern Day; The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness
Our school came to work to clean the fishpond area and to plant more vegetation. Hard work, but very rewarding for me. I am so proud to say that I'm kanaka maoli.
Looking for some volunteer work. Then check out Paepae o He'eia, and help remove the jelly fish from the fishpond.
