Papalani Gelato Poipu Shopping Village reviews
17The gelato is good but I'm giving it a 1 star for the terrible customer service I received on Wednesday night at 8: 40PM by the male employee. I went with my family earlier this week and was given 2 smaller scoops in the smallest cup for a 1 dollar up charge instead of sizing up after explaining I didn't want 2 full scoops. I walked in tonight and was denied, with a very sarcastic and unpleasant attitude and a scoff from the man working. I would have appreciated a simple no or an explanation as to why that's not done.not to be treated poorly. 3 in my party decided against ordering after observing what happened. Not sure when it's ever ok to treat paying customers so rudely but I won't be going back ever again and don't recommend this place to anyone. Unless you want to feel bad for even wanting to go in.
Best gelato that I have tried in the island. A must try. They have 12 non dairy flavors, which is great for lactose intolerants.
This place is unreal! Cannot wait to visit Kauai again to eat this gelato! And yes be in paradise again.
The best gelato I have ever eaten in my life! 10 out of 10 recommend and they even let you try multiple samples!
Real hit or miss. I usually get the same thing (mint chip- either a scoop or blended breeze) and sometimes it’s great and other times really not appetizing at all. Really unfortunate since there is a lot of potential here.
The last place in all of Hawaii still making gelato the way it was intended. Quality ingredients and homemade bases. Bravo, Bravo Papalani!
Average gelato, regretted standing in line Saturday night for half an hour to get some. We loved Koala Mill Ice Cream and Lappert's much more.
Delish! The owner is so sweet and makes wonderful gelato. We’ll be back for sure to get more before we leave.
Opt for the ice cream shop in Koloa Town. The lines are crazy and they only allow one family in the store at a time while giving away three samples away per person. Then they have these stupid signs out in front.
Fantastic homemade waffle cones and fantastic home made ice cream. Highly recommend the Kauai crunch if you want a good Caramel and chocolate combo:)
We were craving ice cream and ended up here, and glad we did. They only allow one family / group in at a time, due to it being a small shop, and while the wait as concerning (as we were close to closing time), the line kept moving and we were served. There was a large variety of flavors to choose from, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating, even with it being at / after closing. Planning on going there the next few days of our trip.would highly recommend, but only after we leave.
Changing the honest 3-star review to 1-star one due to a passive aggressive response received earlier. Never dealt with anything like that before. Being told your taste palette is garbage because you wrote that you’ve had better ice cream before and don’t understand the line to the place all the time?
Someone has to work on their costumer service skills, as well as on accepting criticism. It’s an ice cream place - it’s time to realize not everyone is going to love your product, even if in your opinion it’s the best thing that’s ever existed.
Summing up:
• non dairy gelato tried in 4 flavors: very average (3/5) ;
• costumer service: way worse than terrible (0/5).
My wife and I went to this gelato restaurant 2 days before leaving the island, after 7 days of absolutely amazing food, and the gelato was okay (3/5). We have had much better vegan gelato throughout our travels. This place however is one of the only gelato places on the island. So if you want gelato this will suffice that craving. My 1 star rating is for the customer service unfortunately.
P. S. In the expectations of a crazy, honestly hilarious response: I have a fairly-well developed pallet and actively try foods from all over the world as we travel (which I am so thankful that I can do), and am saying your gelato is good (3/5). Not bad, not horrible, disgusting, or other negative adjective. But if you keep attacking people as aggressively as you do, to quote a response you made, 'the island has a way with dealing with people like you'.
This place has the best gelato I’ve ever had! The sorbet is amazing too! My family all loved every flavor we tried which made it hard to pick. Kids loved the cookies and cream and biscotti best! The sorbet is dairy free and the coconut was my favorite, but they are all so good! Don’t miss this place while in Kauai!
This place was awesome. Amanda was really wonderful with our big family and lots of kids. She was patient and kind and gave good recommendations. The gelato was delicious! Our group got several flavors and they were all absolute winners. They have only one group come into the store at a time, which makes you feel like the whole place is your personal catered experience!
Very organized line to get inside, but once you are in your group is the only ones in the store. Great Gelato!
Best gelato we had in Hawaii! (Kauai, Big Island, and Ohau) So good and lots of different flavors!
