Phở Nam, Honolulu HI

We went about 20 min before closing, and the lady working there graciously welcomed us in with a nice smile. I got the vermicelli noodles with BBQ pork and spring rolls, which is my usual order at a Vietnamese restaurant if I'm not having pho. This one was really good, with decently thick cut pork with a lot of flavor. The only thing I'd change is to have more fish sauce included. Some of my noodles didn't get covered. My girlfriend got pho with rare steak, tendon, and added beef meat balls. The broth was different, with added shoyu. It tasted pretty good, but wasn't what she was expecting. The noodles were nice and chewy.

We went here on a whim because my kid wanted noodles, but I'm really glad we did: the food was good, the price was reasonable, and the service was very nice.

Despite the name of the restaurant, they have other things than pho. I had the green papaya salad, which was quite tasty, and I was happy with the beef broth of the pho I tried. They also have a number of other noodle options (and a couple of bahn mi) for those not in the mood for pho. We ate four meals and two beers for $80 (total after tax and tip), which in my experience is lower than average.

Ordered a Thai tea and BBQ pork and spring roll vermicelli. Quick and pleasant service and food came out faster than I expected. Everything was enjoyable.

~*My fried rice was more like corn…. It was filled with corn, flavorless and burned. I was extremely disgusted by the cook. He took the spoon he was cooking with a scraped food off his hands into the skillet…. No gloves…. We are still in a pandemic. I am giving a 1 star for the visibly gross actions of the cook. *~

This is a really nice place Vietnamese restaurant as far as it goes for décor, cleanliness, service and location. However, although the food wasn't bad, I wasn't very impressed that it offered anything extra or unique from other Vietnamese restaurants. Maybe it was what I ordered, but it just didn't stand out for me.

I got the grilled pork rolls as a starter. They were freshly prepared and decent, but again, nothing special. For my main, I order beef Pho. Again, it wasn't bad, but didn't stand out as anything special.

The place was very nice and comfortable. I would probably bring family from the mainland there that might be intimidated by going to the more edgier Chinatown roach coaches. While there, I noticed some other dinners that seemed to be familiar with the place and all ordering similar dishes. This tells me that there is something special they are known form and I would like to go back again and ask what are their house specials.

For now, I have to hold at a 3 star, but will be happy to update once I return to see if I was wrong.

The best Vietnamese restaurant I've found in Hawaii. I go to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants, and this place is a cut above the rest. The summer rolls have the perfect ratio of shrimp, lettuce and noodles, and the peanut dipping sauce has a hint of spice. So good! The beef pho has a very clean tasting broth, and the vegetables are fresh. The pork over rice noodles is my favorite dish, with a sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy sauce. The pork is grilled to perfection. The staff is really friendly and polite. Highly recommend.

Had the Phở Tái (rare beef pho) and was perfectly prepared. Fresh crisp basil and bean sprouts were a great addition.

This place is walking distance from my house. I like the pho, summer rolls, lemon grass chicken, steak, and ice coffee here. Staff is always super friendly. Love coming here!

We eat here frequently and order food for team meetings due to the fact that they are located around the corner from our work. Fresh and yummy choices. Everyone loves what they get and they have a lot of variety for everyone. Even through COVID we can still get pick up anytime!

The pho and vermicelli here are just okay. A bit bland. The bbq meat dishes are decent. All the ladies that work here are always so nice and friendly though!

I woke nearby so I come here quite often. I love their pho, bbq chicken with vermicelli, and their spring rolls. Everything always tastes delicious and the food comes out fast. The staff is always very nice and I’ve never had a bad experience in the 1+ year I’ve been coming here

Dark seasoning is added to the broth. Real pho broth gets it's natural dark color from simmering the beef bones for hours and hours.

Amazing broth, grilled pork chop is fantastic. My Viet grandma loved this place! Customer service is good.

We went in during the lunch hours so it was pretty crowded.

Very good broth and the rice noodles for the pho but you don’t get much chicken compared to other places.

Spicy Squid with lemongrass was very good. Squid was very tender. It comes with salad which made the plate a bit healthier.

I will go back to the lemongrass chicken cold rice noodle as it was very good in my last visit.

Delicious and affordable dishes served by friendly staff. Impressed with my first visit there.
