Planet Fitness, Kailua-Kona HI

Love this spot and how early they open. Staff is cool and friendly. Wish that the broken machines could be fixed quicker and bathrooms could be restocked more often. But overall, for the price, it’s a sweet local workout spot.

Big variety of many fitness machines available & friendly service both make my time in Planet Fitness an enjoyable experience.

Like being able to got to all the different planet fitness around the country. The massage chair and hydro massage bed is a plus.

Very helpful staff. Lots of seniors. Facility is clean and members clean equipment after use.

Nice blonde woman helped me sign up and Aidan helped me out at the end. Worked out here for the week on vacation great facility has dumbbells up to 75lbs and pretty much any machine you should need. Was easy to sign up for the week and then cancel at the end of the stay

UPDATE: As of 10 Aug, No Improvement. Deterioration continues. Only 'Management Activity' noted was the $40 'Annual Fee' debited from my chkg acct. Front Desk Attendant reports the exercise machine technician as assessed repair requirements and parts have been ordered. Arrival date and final repair date unknown.

UPDATE: 2 weeks later (17 Jul), NO improvement. More machine out of Service. Attendant says repairs to be completed '. This month. " We'll see!

Over the last month or so the quality of the PF experience at the Kona facility has declined. Most recently, 3 of the 4 leg exercise machines are out of service. On other machines, knobs are missing or rubber sleeves are ripped or worn. Many of the cardio machines have 'Out of Service' notices on them. One employee never acknowledges members arrival or departure.probably due to usually being distracted by the computer or his cell phone. I recently let him know that there was no disinfectant for wiping down the machines at one of the major cleaning stations. His solution was for me to go to another cleaning station, even though there was no other activity at the front desk, 20 minutes later there still weren't any disinfectant at that station. On another visit, there were no paper towels throughout the facility to wipe down the machines after use.

Terrible hours compared to the location that I joined at, it actually matters being open when people want to come in!

Then, when you go to cancel, you have to show up in person or send mail to cancel. Two great reasons for an extremely low rating.

Decent gym. Good selection of workout machines. Get one of their reduced rates, and it is a good deal

Convenient location, adequate variety of weightlifting machines, great ambience, not very busy most of the day, incredibly low price, many cleaning stations for after using machines, very clean bathrooms. Can't beat this combination with the low price.

They really need to beef up on the cleanliness, especially the bathrooms. Fix the broken paper towel dispensers and keep them filled so we can clean the equipment after use. I see 2 employees at the front desk often just chatting when there is work to be done. The ladies bathroom is gross, you can tell it's not cleaned frequently as it should be. The cleanliness definitely needs improvement.

On May 9th, the gym was not open by 5am and quite a few people who were waiting ended up leaving. After 15 minutes, I decided to leave as well. Please hire reliable employees. Thank you

Cleanliness of the Gym and equipment, Professionalism and Politeness of the staff, The Hydromassage at the end of a workout and if you need anything or have questions the Staff will have the answers, find the answer or direct you where to find your answer or resourses to find your answer.

Love this place the staff are Incredibly helpful and friendly lots of equipment great place to be at all hours

My sister and I tried the Kona location since I was visiting the Big Island. They had some updated machines compared to the Oahu Kapiolani location! Loved working out there! The negative about that location was the showers While showering the drain backed up so water was to my ankles. GROSS! And there was water outside the showers, so floor was dangerous to walk to the changing rooms! People put paper towels on the floor to have a dry spot for their feet. I saw a worker come in but did nothing!

I love the workers there, I'm wondering why the ownership does not provide tall chairs for the employees to sit on! It's torture it seems
