Roy's Waikoloa Bar & Grill reviews
17Roy's is incredible and this location was no exception. Meatloaf, pot stickers, and the food is delicious. Chocolate soufflé was incredible and service is phenomenal. We always come to Roy's whenever we are in Hawaii.
Nobody checked on me and an elder staff seemed impatient because he asked me if I finished when i was clearly not and it was only 30 min after I got the menu (so you know I ordered and ate really fast)
What a great spot. Service was legit 5 star. We had a group of ten and were so well taken care of, even with a few dietary needs.
We had a romantic dinner evening to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary.
The service was impeccable and the crab cakes and blackened ahi were perfectly cooked.
One extra star in Memory of how amazing it was. It was loud to loud to hear anyone at our table. The food was OK and unmemorable at best. The server was borderline rude and. A tad hostile when I had questions about the menue (fish are listed by their Hawaiian names). I won't be back. No Aloha,
Roy's is a little dingy. The food was good, but not great. The ribs were fatty and tough, but the flavor was great. The crab cakes were small and somewhat flavorless, and the Poke was covered in spicy mayo. The one bright spot was the assistant waiter - he was great and proactive.
Had dinner at Roy’s Waikiloa on 11/4/22 and thought the food was just ok. The Roy’s experience has definitely changed from 14 years ago when I first ate at this restaurant. The building is old and dated. Almost No upscale features at this restaurant. The prices are ridiculous for the quality of food you get and the dining experience. $51 for Parmesan Crusted Fish that was pretty tasteless. $44 for a pork chop that wasn’t great. $14 for their signature chocolate soufflé that is significantly smaller then in years past. Basic wood tables with padded chairs…no tablecloth…dingy carpet throughout the building…bad lighting…definitely not an upscale, fancy, or romantic experience. The only thing upscale was their prices!
I don’t mind spending $150 on a dinner for two if I feel I get great food and a nice dining experience.
I realize prices have gone up, inflation is real, but paying a lot more but getting a lot less doesn’t feel right. I also know that covid and staffing issues are everywhere but that didn’t seem to be the issue. It’s just things have changed, and Roy’s definitely hasn’t changed for the better.
While the atmosphere of this restaurant along the edge of the King's Shops is solid, the food is not quite on the level of Roy's Ko Olina on Oahu.
It was alright! Friendly staff and decent menu. I personally felt that it was a little overpriced for what you got but to each his own.
Sat at the bar for appetizers, drinks and playoff baseball.outstanding service and professional staff, appetizers were baby back ribs, spring rolls and the wedge. Lurch will take great care of you.
Very fresh nutritious food, from the salad, fresh fish entree's to the wonderful souffle.
Expensive, but definitely worth it. The water view was great.
The food was fantastic as usual. The Shenzhen Ribs and appetizers were great. I had the Blackened Ahi for entree and it was incredible. The MacNut tart for dessert topped the meal off perfectly.
The only reason I am not giving Roy's 5 stars is the Service was very substanard for a Roy's Restaurant. Once seated water was served to all, drinks were served, wine was served. Then over the next 2 hours, no one refilled water glasses, no one offered to bring more drinks, and then to tip it off, we ordered coffee with our dessert and it was never served. Over all Typical great food at Roys just disappointing with the service.
Our appetizers were amazing, service was a little slow, main courses were just ok, our pork chops were undercooked. Too expensive for what it is, we’ll not be coming back
Family friendly, the foods were awesome! I had nacho poke for a starter and shrimp and short rib mix. Delicious! Husband said, it's the best meal he had while in big island.
Not altogether horrendous. I suppose. In an otherwise empty restaurant, we (two of us) were seated between two large, loud groups of people. One group had two very young children, one of which spent much of her time standing on her chair screaming at the top of her lungs. Parents did nothing.
The food was no better or no worse than the food at The Rum Shack, or at A-Bays. The only difference was that it was about 20% more expensive that those restaurants.
Servers were disinterested. That's the only way to describe them.
The restaurant itself was old, dull, and presented an unappealing appearance. Including the tip, cost me $113 for the two of us.
Bottom line: Don't bother with Roy's. Go to Rum Shack or A-Bays. Food is the same, the service is better, and the ambiance is much more pleasant.
Very solid place for a nice dinner. Came here with a party of 6 and 2 of us tried the prix fixe. For apps we got the poke nachos and boar rangoons, both of which were nice and crisp and tasted great. The boar rangoons were interesting with a filling that reminded me of steak tartare with some fruit chutney.
For entrees, we tried some fish dishes and the fish was cooked perfectly.
For dessert, we ordered macadamia nut tart and bread pudding in addition to the pastry basket from the prix fixe. The tart’s crust wasn’t hard like some other places’ and the pastry basket had a nice mix of roasted fruits: strawberries, peaches, and pineapples.
Service was top notch and everyone was friendly and attentive.
