Sakura Japanese Restaurant reviews
18Great place hidden in Mililani service excellent! I can't wait for you guys to open up at Pearlridge! I better put in my reservations now! Ha hah!
This is our go-to sushi spot on Oahu. The sushi is always amazing and decently priced. The hibachi is good for group events, gets a little loud and wild so be prepared. The staff is always friendly and attentive.
A group of 7 of us came here for dinner after a meeting in Mililani. We were seated quickly after everyone in the party arrived, then our drink orders were taken. I had a water and Sprite, which was delicious with free refills. Once our party had a chance to decide, a server took our orders along with a few dietary restrictions (seafood allergy, nut allergy). I ordered the Meat Lovers Hibachi Combo which comes with Steak, Chicken, and Filet Mignon as the main proteins.
When the chef came around to our table he was polite and casual as he went over everyone's orders and confirmed the allergies with their respective persons. The flair that is typical of the teppanyaki experience was a bit toned down for our group this evening, but everything was still entertaining.
First came the miso soup and salad, both good but nothing special, then the sides and meats. Everything cooked on the flat top was generously seasoned needing no additional sauces. To my surprise the fried rice was actually perfectly cooked how I like it with areas of rice being koge (crispy burnt perfection). The yakisoba too was great and had a nice texture and flavor experience. The mixed vegetables were a bit of q let down texture wise as I prefer mine a bit on the firmer side, and the flavor was great and consistent with the rest of the meal so far, but for me the subtle taste of the actual vegetables were drowned out where I could only taste the sauce and seasonings. Next time I'd request light on the sauce.
My biggest regret of the evening is not taking a picture of the meats as only the sides had been prepared up until the point where my plate picture was taken. Although the meats were as typical a presentation as you'd expect from a teppanyaki experience, mass prepared and then portioned out to whoever is supposed to have that particular meat type at their requests doneness level, they still looked amazing coming off the flat top and being served from the chefs spatula.
For others wondering about the allergy situation, due to the seafood allergy in our group the meats were cooked first then the seafood so as to minimize the risk of contamination. Then, because of the nut allergy in our group we were informed that there should be no risk with our teppanyaki orders because vegetable oil is used instead of sesame oil, and nothing else ordered contains nuts.
Overall, I would come back here again with friends or to celebrate an occasion. The experience is all together one of generally casual dining, but paired with an entertaining show, and exceptional attention by the waitstaff. Not once did my glasses sit empty where I was wondering if I could have a refill.
Bombest place I’ve eaten on the whole island! Super cool staff, hilarious chefs, and the food was delicious!
Unimpressed and average at best. Miso soup was barely warm…. Hand rolls were not nice and fishy tasting…. One of the worst spicy tuna hand rolls I’ve eaten. I thought by ordered strawberry mochi would be saving grace to cleanse the bad food taste from my mouth and they ruined beautiful mochi by pouring whipped cream and chocolate syrup all over them making them so gross. Will not go back and would not recommend. The waitress was very nice she is only reason it got 2 stars not 1.
I’ve always looked forward to coming to Sakura Mililani.
Great food, friendly staff, excellent service, helpful with information about the many different sushi, sushi rolls…Did I mention they have great food!
Their Master Chefs are very entertaining. A couple of them play music while their quick hands slices
through the air… such a wonderful experience.
Lin remembered my name the second I came. She made me feel like a VIP!
I give it
Great place, great food! Make a reservation if possible we had to wait about 45 minutes for the hibachi table. Will definitely go back.
Sakura restaurant in Mililani is one of my favorite places to visit! I’ve taken everyone in my family there, I love dine in and takeout, the staff is always kind with outstanding service, and the quality of the food whether you dine in or takeout is always great….
Me and my husband have lived on the island for 4 years now. We visited this exact same location about 10 times and today was by far the best experience & customer service I’ve received in my whole entire life. The food was AMAZING! HOT, FRESH, & MOUTHWATERING. The soup and salad was absolutely refreshing. I recommend Chan (a waiter), Johnny (the chef) & (Ling) The manager! (I’m sorry for misspelling the names) they made us feel so welcomed! We will definitely will be coming even more often. Awesome way to start the new year. Great people.
I go mostly for the sushi but they do also have the hibachi which is really good as well.
The fish is always fresh! My favorite is the Sweetheart roll and Oysters. Oysters are HUGE and made with a special sauce.
All of the wait staff is friendly.
If you are in Mililani I would highly suggest them.
Great show and enjoyable experience for family. Been a while since we did a hibachi dinner and didn't disappoint
Steven was an awesome waitor, and the food is always delicious and prompt. Always happy at sakura
Our waiter was the best. He consistenly checked on our table despite how busy they were. Great tasting food and sushi was definitely fresh
Love this place! Fabulous food and service! It's great that you can choose to either sit in the booth and have hibachi, or watch the show. Food and sushi are both are always made meticulously and deliciously. ️?
We ordered the Sakura boat. The sashimi was warm. The nigiris were so so. I wasn't impressed. The deep fried ice cream dessert and the Orion were awesome
Reserved months ahead, Surprise bday dinner for my Mama. My family and her, were very pleased filled with elation. Enjoyed staff courtesy&hibachi chef (s) entertainment. Thank You Sakura Mililani
My boss invited the entire office to lunch at Sakura's in Mililani, celebrating and office function. I've never been to a hibachi style restaurant before, and I thought it was a lot of fun, with very good food, and entertaining. We had enough people in our group that they sat us down in a big table with 2 grills and 2 chefs, splitting our group into 2. The chefs were fun, doing tricks, they would pour sake into people's mouth tossing food into peoples mouths, playing music and having a good time. 10/10, was lots of fun, would recommend it, definitely spiced up the work day.
Food Excellent
Hibachi show better then Benihana
Cooks were Great, Expertise shows
Had a Great time.
