It was my first time visiting Hawaii with my sister and to save some money for other excursions, we stayed here. I will say that this place is ideal if you intend to book a place with affordable pricing especially in Honolulu. This hostel is more for convenience as oppose to luxury and comfort. Good place to stay if you're travelling with a group. It's pretty safe to browse around the area after sunset.

Pros
location- everything is accessible as you are in the heart of the city.restaurants, shops, souvenirs, bus stops etc. ABC store at every corner, the Waikiki beach is about 15 min walk.
Staff visits the rooms, 2-3 times a day to take out trash, and stock up on toilet paper.washrooms are clean, surf board rentals.

Good place to stay if you enjoy the company of others or looking for an affordable place to stay. No curfew.animal companion sometime on site- a large German shepherd, very friendly dog:)

Cons
No air conditioning, it can be really hot in the rooms. We travelled during August but thankfully with two fans we had in our rooms, we cooled down after sometime.

I am also a very tidy person and am considerate around others who need a shut-eye for the night. Depending on your roommates, it can be deal breaker. One of our roommates was messy and left her clothes hanging everywhere but for most part, we had considerate roommates who came in quietly during the night and we all limited our shower time.the beds are comfortable for most part but found the top bunk very squeaky and hard to get down if you're a bigger person.
Roaches- you can expect to see roaches in Hawaii which is not a surprise. Although our rooms were clean for most part, I saw a roach once on my way to the bathroom.you may see a roach or two outside by the patio but then again, you are visiting a very warm climate.downstairs, there is an open-concept kitchen so bugs are bound to come in regardless.noise level- since you are in the heart of the city, you may hear people in the middle of the night.there is also a bar next door.
No washing machine/dryer
no breakfast offered, except for coffee/tea

wifi- I had trouble with the wi-fi connection during the evening. I would not say its super.

Had a fantastic stay at the seaside hostel, very close to Waikiki beach in a lively area. Common room and facilities were clean and Caitlin was wonderful in making us feel welcome and helping us out checking in! Would definitely go back

This place is only good for the location and if you are a heavy sleeper.

This was definitely one of the more boring hostels I’ve stayed at. They don’t really have any activities or excursion they offer. There are some things you can check out. They also have a what’s app group to encourage socialization but it just wasn’t the same as most hostels and how they actually host things.

The issue was the windows. There were no curtains or blinds. First of all there are street lights all around in every direction. So even at night it’s not actually dark in the rooms. Second there are hotel rooms and apartments around it that can see straight into the windows. And third. They are open panels so the sound goes through the windows it was like sleeping outside. It’s in a major city imagine sleeping outside listening to every motorcycle, every drunk conversation, every car alarm (and there were sooooo many car alarms for some reason) the sounds aren’t the problem it was the fact they don’t even have a window to shut to muffle it. If there were curtains it would at least muffle the sound a little bit.

It was bad there were girls hanging towels from the bunk beds to block the light and people had t-shirt on their faces and toilet paper as earplugs. I actually happened to have a sleeping mask with Bluetooth ear covers and played relaxing music all night and that helped but it still was like I could hear all the little noises you would only hear if you’re actually outside.

They just need some thick curtains. Period.

Very noisy! Housekeepers clean 2 times a week only. Volunteers do laundry and pick up trash daily. It's a very old building. Pillows are disgusting.and matresses too. Very old!
Location is good tho.
The rooms are very small.
Some Windows don't even have glass! I would not recommend this place. But YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAY RIGHT?

I spent 5 nights and it was a wonderful and unusual experience. I checked in late and she waited for me patiently. The top bed was not a good move though as I am big and climbing up the ladder was a mission. It was also very noisy climbing down.

My stay at the Seaside Hostel was incredible. The rooms were comfortable and the common area was lively. Caitlin was a huge help in allowing us to check in late and providing over all tips for our stay in Honolulu! Highly recommend

This hostel MADE my trip to Hawaii. Clean, great location, and amazing people. Hind was specifically so incredibly sweet and gave great recommendations on beaches and hikes. I didn’t want my stay to end (they almost convinced me to miss my flight). I’ll definitely be staying here again hopefully in the near future!

My first Hostel Stay! I started out in November on a spiritual journey and I spent two weeks at Seaside. Rhonda, Hind and Leandra were so kind to me. They were welcoming, encouraging and supportive to say the least. Them and Bodie truly made the experience worth while. The community atmosphere and the down to earth solo travelers added an element to the extended stay that I don’t think a hotel could have. YES, it’s a shared room experience, YES you have to share the bathroom, YES, if you want luxury and modern you should head to a hotel. This is for those desiring connection and community as stories are shared about travels and life. If you’re looking for that experience then stay at SEASIDE!

I booked three months ago. I re-verify 5 days before arriving, being told everything is perfect come on down. I get here and they say sorry we gave you a better way to someone else there's nothing we can do about it. I travel from Armenia to Hawaii, 21 hour flight only to be put on the street. They raise the price and gave it to someone else. I think it's because I booked through hostelworld so instead of paying the percentage a rather keep the money I can't imagine any other reason. Very mean to do such things not to mention unethical

Pros: equipped kitchen, silent fans, comfortable bed, good location, friendly staff, dorms are cleaned every day, great Halloween decorations, free surfboards and bodyboards

Cons: no curtains (very bright in the room in the morning), no doormat (sand gets in the rooms), smoking allowed, limited office hours, no outlets near beds, no individual lights, comparitevely expensive for what you get, poor wifi in the rooms

Stayed in a private room with a shared bath. The room is located within a bigger room where the bunks are located instead of separate entrances. The common facilities are clean and spacious. I appreciate the enforcement of quiet hours. Surf boards are available to borrow. Wifi works downstairs but not so well (in and out) in the upstairs rooms.
Office hours are not open from 12-4 and schedule might need to be adjusted to that accordingly for check in.
Improvement suggestions: hooks in that bathroom and rooms. Curtain on the windows or around the beds.

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at! It has a really chill and friendly atmosphere which is great for relaxing or meeting new people. It’s a great location - close to a lot of great restaurants, bars, the beach and shopping. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. I also love that it has a 24/7 open kitchen, spare toilet and shower near the common area, a lot of beach equipment to borrow and the rooms are really clean.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! They have surf boards, umbrellas, beach chairs you can use for free. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful and it is in a central location with good facilities. Would stay here again!

At time I visited office was open for check in 10am-1pm and 4pm-11pm. We had a few questions prior to arriving and all were answered quickly and throughly via email:)

Amazing friendly staff and super helpful and made you feel welcome! Really clean and tidy as well as a perfect atmosphere. In a good location not too far from the beach and close to all the shops and restaurants. Plenty of things to borrow to take to the beach and things

Overall, It's great place to stay when you want everything to be accessible and convenient. The walk to Waikiki beach is 20 mins, the international marketplace (restaurants and shopping), souvenir shops on every block (i.e. The ABC store), bus stations etc.

Pros:
- Most affordable (I was able to go on snorkeling/surfing, hiking trips, and fancy restaurants)
- The staff are super friendly, including their lovable animal companion-a friendly German Shepperd
- The beds are comfortable, bathroom and room are clean and tidy. I really appreciate the staff checking the room 2-3 times a day to stock up toilet paper, and taking out garbage
- You will enjoy the stay if you have courteous and respectful guests who will stay in same room as you. I. E. I shared a room with 8 girls and there's one bathroom. We all limit shower time to 10 mins, or if someone goes to bed early, others walk in quietly or whisper, turn the lights off.
- I personally haven't came across a cockroach in the room:)
- Kitchen, phone charging stations at the patio hangout area, lounge area to chill.
- I love coming across the cute little geckos^-^ They would chill by the trees. Don't be frighten if you see one run across. They are harmless<3

Slight Cons:
- Fat german roaches! It's very common in any tropical climate. I came across a few that zoomed past me by the patio. Spotted few dead ones by the driveway
- Can be a little loud especially when you're heading to bed and call it a night. Folks will chill at the patio mingle with the group and there's singing, drinking, and people having a good time. Also there is a restaurant next door. Just bring ear plugs
- Depends on the type of guests you share the room with! For first 2 days, I had a messy guest who left her clothes all over the floor and not very organized.
- If you're a curvy person, err avoid the top bunk bedXD unsteady ladder (feels like metal, and it's struggle to get up and come back down). At the same time, it gives you the isolation space so you will fall asleep easily:)

I love it here!

It's important to pay attention to the office hours. A lot of people would come in when the office was closed and would have to wait around outside the gate.

It's really close to a lot of great shopping.

The staff is super helpful and usually know great places to go for groceries or eateries.

There's also a super friendly dog that comes to visit from time to time. Owner's dog!
