Senor Pepe / Señor Pepé reviews
17We have had about 5 different Mexican food locations around the island, and this was probably the closest thing to decent Mexican food in Hawaii. Street tacos were good!
I have eaten at 4 Mexican restaurants this week. I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food because I want an authentic, fresh taste. I love Tamales? And enchiladas. Señor Pepe is always on point and never fails me. I love all the fresh vegetables and salsa. I sincerely regret spending money on other places, just to try a new spot. Even the highest star restaurants here in Honolulu do not come close to Señor Pepe. I just want to tell everyone how delicious this place is! And thank you to the owner for the consistent wonderful food he has been serving over the years. It hasn’t gone unnoticed! Even through COVID and all the madness his location at the food court in Alamoana has been consistent and I have never had a bad or old plate of food from here. Consistently and cleanliness is important to me; thank you for giving the best authentic Mexican food to our community for many years! You are greatly appreciated!
Not real mexican food, the person serving me kept giving me the wrong meat on my tacos had to correct her 3 times. The carne asada is undercooked with no flavor whatsoever. The barbacoa is brisket not Lengua. They barely gave me any lime, one small triangle for each taco and one was dried up and didn't have any lime juice in it. If you want real mexican food I recommend El Mariachi they have 2 locations on the island. Also the beans lacked flavor as well don't know how but the rice was the only good thing
It's not fair because I'm from Oklahoma so. I don't consider this TexMex.very bland and sub par for me.
Honestly this is my favorite spot in the food court. I've been here weekly and never had issues. For being at a mall location I have no complaints. I love the potatoes in the rice.
It was ok I guess, not really healthy, I was looking for Mexican food and Thai place was the closest thing, Ford was ok
The food was ok. The beans were watery the tamale hardly had pork in it. The street taco was full but the corn tortilla was to thick.
Great food, authentic taste, and you get quite a bit for the price! Staff is friendly and the wait times are not as long as you would think compared to all the people standing in front of the shop. All and all this is a great place to stop for a quick bite
Located in the food court. The line wasn't bad and moved quickly. Had the vegetarian tacos. I think someone forgot the drain the beans before loading the tacos. Ultimately it was soggy mess that I couldn't bring myself to eat. Better options are available on either side.
I had: Belgian waffles, eggs w/cheese, bacon, horchata.
Overpriced, low quality (everything tastes like it comes from a freezer), luke warm.
Not eorth the $9 I spent, would not come back.
For a second I thought maybe it was just that I made the mistake of ordering brkfst at what's essentially Mexican lunch counter food, but then I read the other reviews and realize this place is just bad.
I wish Paniolos had a store in Honolulu. I've only had good Mexican in two places in Hawai'i (including Maui) : Paniolos (in Kailua) and Buho Cocina in Waikiki.
Hawai'i just doesn't (generally speaking) do Mexican well.
Chicken Enchiladas with Refried Beans & Rice was so GOOD! The reason for only four stars instead of five stars was due to the lady cashier, she seemed annoyed. I still really like this restaurant.
Beef and chicken enchiladas and tamales. Tastes awful and 24 hours later we're still experiencing diarrhea. Girl who claimed to be manager on phone was incompetent and unhelpful. Many other options in this city for Mexican Food. Don't waste your money at Senor Pepe
I had a steak burrito with a side rice & black beans and I've gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. The flavour was very good and serving was very generous, probably enough to serve two people. For the size of the serving, the value was quite good at $11.50. The service was also very good. I would certainly go back again.
The first couple of times I ate here, I enjoyed it. This last visit as a bit disappointing, service was slow (took 12 minutes to bring out my burrito and cheese quesadilla). The taste was ok, but something tasted a little off. The salsa? Anyway, probably won't visit again.
Why do you put chicken in the rice? Use veggie stock! You are ruining it for the vegetarians! It's 2017
It's $9 for 2 tacos (1.5x too overpriced), the people there were slow (you'd think it would take ~2-3 minutes, but literally EVERYONE AFTER ME got their order first before they even remembered I ordered anything at all/ why I was even there and sent my order into the kitchen), and the tacos were mediocre at best. Overall: F-, it sucks more than a black hole.
Bought two chicken enchiladas with three sides. Tasted over salted. Portion sizes were small. The black beans tasted off/rotten and I felt a bit sick after eating them. Corn bread was nice.
