Shimazu Shave Ice

Shimazu! Didnt know about this location (i grew up going to the school st location) so decided to check it out with my kiddos after a sweaty day of running errands and cleaning house. We normally go to Waiola Shave ice but thought we’d try something new. Turned out to be the perfect thing to cool off and get our sweet tooth fix. My 6YO got a kids size and my 12YO and I each got a small. None of us finished our orders because it was MASSIVE. Not a bad thing and we were down for the challenge to try. Lol Be sure to get napkins, it can get messy. We also got mochi balls (the normal mochi balls that they scoop from the water, not the mini mochi that some shave ice places have that has powder on it) and condensed milk. #Scrumptious We sat in the seating area with other ohana, it was a small seating area with 5ish tables with 2-3 seats each, a party of 3-4 is maxed out. We demolished what we could and eventually we each gave up die to being so full. 1-kids size, 2-small size. All with mochi and 2 with condensed milk came out to a lil over $26. We’ll be back again for sure.

Cons:
- small parking area (only 6 or so stalls and limited street parking)
- price (a tad bit more expensive than other shave ice locations)
- small indoor seating area

Pros:
-MASSIVE amounts (the small was a full meal for me)
- flavors, super ono flavors and so many to choose from.
- perfect to cool off on any Hawaiʻi day.
- customer service, very kind and welcoming.
- cozy but comfortable seating area to escape the heat.
-offered other goodies in the same location like lins crack seed (we’ll check out more the next time)

Best price, sizes, flavors, and such soft shaved ice that didn’t melt too fast. Best we have tried.

This was the second shave ice place our family tried and it is the one we will keep going back to! The kid size is huge! There were more flavor varieties here than anywhere else I've seen and the owner was really friendly. A must do!

Nice people. Great service. USE CAUTION- A "small" is HUGE. I highly recommend the Root Beer flavoring.

We stopped by for a treat. We ordered a small shave ice with the flavors ube creme, guava, lychee and added condensed milk. The small is really BIG! The syrups had great flavor. Overall a satisfying and refreshing shave ice.

Very good and pretty smooth (not as fine as Waiola, that one has no crunch, so depends on preference).

Lots of flavors and giant portions for a good price. Condensed milk (snowcap) is very thick.

Great little hole in the wall. We had no line, great prices, and kids loved them. They have flavors that I've never seen in a shave ice.

Unsuspecting lowkey piece of heaven. So many flavours and the ice just melts in your mouth. Was a perfect hot day treat.

Definitely worth trying if you're a fan of shave ice. It's that classic looking shave ice, especially with that sizing! Texture wasn't bad and the flavors were okay. The milky flavors I think are the best here, that honeydew was my favorite. Parking is tight here and they do have seating available. It's right next to Rainbow drive-in so you can walk right to them if you're hungry.

Our 1st Hawaiian shaved ice experience and it was awesome! We went to another place in Maui and did not like it as much as this one.

Big bowls of shave ice for decent price. Lots of flavors to choose from, and they’re all good. The ube creme flavor was amazing.

My favorite shave ice on the island! I always order the Royal Green Milk Tea with snow cap and mochi.

Don’t bother going anywhere else. Found this on our last day in Honolulu and wish we came earlier. Massive shaved ice with lots of flavours. The guy asked us 5x if we were sure we wanted the large and so we got the small and it was still huge (the size of my wife’s head).

Delicious shaved ice! Never like shaved ice until I tried this place. Smooth tasting, best flavors without HFCS. I had coconut and banana cream, Pina colada with mochi on the bottom. Wished I could have made it last the whole day.

What to write… Very disappointing shave ice experience. The flavors tasted very artificial and were nothing like what we would’ve expected. We ordered strawberry mango and lychee. The mango was the only flavor that tasted somewhat close to what we expected.

Delicious smooth shave ice. Enormous portions. Pictures below are "small" and "baby" size. Loads of flavors to choose from. Some of the best shave ice on Oahu.

Mahalo guys! Taking Bray to play football for UH and made a pit stop here! This is the small, the size of a small watermelon! You gotta stop and have a shave ice from this place if you’re here!

Been to about 12 different shaved ice places and this is hands down the best and consistently amazing.

Okay ice. Not the smooth ice but good if you want small crunchy ice. Smaller than mainland snow cone ice. Didn’t love the vibe tho.
