Sleeping Giant's Chin Lookout reviews
21Great hike up to the sleeping giant's chin. Lucky the rain held off. Very muddy and slick. But ai worth it
The hike was relatively easy, there were a few tricky Parts though. Make sure there's no rain in the forecast because it does get rather slippery if it is wet! View is totally worth it from the job.
We started at 8am and there were still spaces in the lot. Some muddy spots, some steep sections and the occasional rock to climb but this is not a difficult hike. 75 minutes up and less than an hour back down going steady. The view from the chin is well worth it. The last climb up there is not for the faint-hearted. Take a liter of water because you will sweat!
There is 3 different hiking trails you can take that all lead you to the chin (summit). So just make sure you take the same route back as you do going up.
This is not an easy trail at all. Especially when it has rained. I love to hike. Would not recommend to anyone with any type of aches and pains. Beautiful view though.
Take the two mile trail up. The four and six mile trails are extremely muddy and don’t offer much in the way of views. Even the top is not the greatest view when considering all else on the island.
Totally worth the hike. Most rewarding hike I've been on. Once you get all the way to the top it will take your breath away. You get an absolutely beautiful perspective of the island. Pictures can't do it justice.
Nice hike, you get a view from both sides. It is up the whole time really, so could be a bit tiring for some.
Even though it is just 2 miles each way it is rather demanding because of the weather. Make sure to take like 2 liters of water per person so you dont have to give up like a lot of people doing the trail. Views are amazing and there is a refreshinf breeze on the top.
Bit tenuous but not too difficult of a trail to climb to the top. Once you reach the end of the trail, you can get an amazing view of Kauai. The hike was about 2-3 hours total. The parking is a bit limited but we did not have to wait to find a spot. Great hike in the AM to start your day.
Great hike, and amazing views. A bit muddy and some bouldering is involved to get to the top past the picnic table but well worth the 360 view.
This hike was awesome! If you're not too scared of heights and you are a decent hiker, I would definitely hike to the peak beyond the picnic tables. The 360 degree views are worth it. There is some minor scrambling and a bit of exposure, but overall it's pretty mild. This hike can get very muddy, so try to hike it when it's dry.
Well marked path, incredible views. A small amount of bouldering in a couple places. Free parking. One of my favorite hikes in Hawaii.
The climb to the lookout, while quite difficult, is definitely worth it. The trail itself includes many great views on the way up, and after the regular climb and a short rock scramble, the mountain peak allows you to see all around the entire mountain. If you're coming to Kauai and you enjoy hiking, this is a must see!
Intermediate hike with some decent climbing spots. View spectacular and worth the trek. Definitely out aside time for this hike. Half day hike.
We hiked two miles up and two miles down. Allow enough daylight to make it down the mountain. Beautiful views at the top!
Surprisingly, less muddy than anticipated. Definitely worth climbing to the top past the picnic tables!
Hopefully it is dry if you make this hike but the view from the top is worth it but it can be a bit steep.
Easy hike but after rain watch your steps (with one climbing) - slippery madly path with rocks and roots.
The trail to get here is not too long, not too hard but very muddy and slippery. If you don't mind getting dirty is definitely something to do. The view from the top is breathtaking and also the last party of the trail a little bit scary as you are walking an a narrow crest. I was a little bit disappointed when I got the the first view point but that was not the chin. So definitely get to the top.
