SUSHI COCORO &UDON NOODLE

The pricing was very reasonable since five of us shared in appetizers of seaweed salad, garlic/furikake edamame and shrimp tempura. We all tried different entrees such as tempura udon, hamachi sashimi, Hawaiian style poke chirashi, chicken teriyaki and their specialty called da bomb (spicy ahi poke & chicken teriyaki on sushi rice). Every dish was better than we could have expected. A 5 star rating is an understatement if it’s measured by the quality and preparation of the food. TKuma

Absolutely delightful. Fish was super soft and fresh. Rolls came out fast! Staff was super friendly. We loved it! Go early they fill up fast. The prices are crazy good too. We will be back.

Excellent sushi! My wife and I truly enjoyed our sushi dinner here. The waitress was very nice, she helped us with questions about their specials board. The food was excellent. Each roll and nigiri were expertly prepared and had balanced flavors (not overdone with sauces that mask the fish flavor). The wasabi on one plate appeared to have been left out and oxidized (unappetizing, but it was fine on the other plates). A word of warning, the decor here is distressingly in disrepair and it appears dirty. If they cleaned, painted the place, and replaced the lamps that may drop decades old paper onto your food if you were to bump them, they'd get a five star rating from me. Still, it was a great value, and offers great tasting sushi with local fish options and some fish from Japan. We'll be back despite the facility.

Hands down the best sushi on Big Island! Been dining here for over a year, every date night! The sushi rolls are consist, prices are unbeatable and quality is top notch. Sashimi is always incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth. We bring the whole family + kids sometimes and there’s always something for everyone, if your not into sushi their cooked menu is just as good! Anytime we have guests visiting from out of state, we come here. We’ve made the mistake of trying other sushi spots and regretted it. It almost sounds too good to be true but really… this is the best sushi spot around.

Came here in the afternoon to reserve two seats for dinner because we’d seen how delicious the food looked from other reviews and photos. Booking was made and our details collected.

That evening, we arrived on time but were told they were full and we’d have to wait 20 minutes for a table. Seriously? What’s the point in making a booking? We were extremely disappointed. It seemed very disorganised and it was disheartening having to find another restaurant at that time that wasn’t busy.

This place was great! Very affordable, delicious sushi! We ordered 5 rolls for the two of us and it was too much. We also had the Japanese beer and it was great! Not fancy, great vibe and hidden away right off the ocean drive. Go here.

Presentation is not good food taste is bland. Water cup smell like fish. Place descent customer service is good. Wouldn’t be back.

Sushi was blah- warm fish, bland flavor and mushy rice. Inside of restaurant is grubby and water damage in the walls next to dining table is a concern.

The restaurant looks a bit dated. The stuff is nice. Tuna in poke wasn't fresh, the rest was great. Special sushi were awesome.

I don’t normally share reviews but my experience was so bad, I want to warn others about coming here. We ordered from DoorDash and got the wrong dish and our miso soup had no broth in it… meaning it was just an empty cup with seaweed and tofu. They just forgot to put the broth in, I guess. Now, these things happen, so that wasn’t a huge deal. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and requested if I could at least pick up the soup and to see if maybe the meal we got was something we could eat anyways (my wife has allergies and has to be careful). If it was possible, I would have liked for them to make us the meal we ordered. I was passed to 3 different people on the phone, none of whom were explained what happened, so I had to retell it each time. I was then told that they were too busy, would not remake anything for us even though the dish we did not order but got anyways did not accommodate allergies, and there was nothing they could do.

In short, the miso soup is a bit dry and each bite may not be what you expect. There’s too much good places to eat on this island than to be frustrated here.

The place is fairly small but clean. Good food and price. Conveniently located and steps away from the bay. We enjoyed it. The ice shave next door is good fir dessert.

Wonderful, quick service and great quality food. It’s rare when we find a restaurant that pleases everyone, including teens. We ordered a second round of agedashi tofu because we loved it so much.

I hope I could give them 0 star. I got food poisoning. Their price is less expensive than others, but you need to make sure you get the right stuff.

Ordered the 28.99 sushi for two via doordash-4 mins always from our place. Said it would take 48 mins which was fine and it arrived much sooner but the thing is it was absolutely disgusting, low Quality, quickly thrown together, not fresh, small amount of ginger for 30 rolls for 2 people. So sad I wasted 31 dollars and was let down. Still hungry because I’m not eating that. Like the other review said you get what time pay for

This is definitely a little hole in the wall. Follow the nondescript sushi sign by the Scandinavian shaved ice sign down the breezeway past the gift shop to the restaurant.
A reservation will help get you in the door but there was still a wait as they are short staffed. We found out after dinner that they only have so much fish and can run out so earlier is better.
The sushi was good and fresh but the rolls looked a little rough but tasted delicious.

I liked the kitsune udon, I got it twice. My boyfriend got the chirashe bowl the first time which he really liked, but got sushi rolls the second time and said they were not very good unfortunately. Disappointed since the other food was good.
