The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali, Lahaina HI

Stayed here with my wife for our honeymoon. The location is great. Right off the beach with beautiful ocean views. Try to get a corner room with a private balcony. Best views are from the higher floors (7-11). If you rent a car, there is a $35 daily fee to self park in the garage.

There’s plenty of pool space here. Adult pool and giant overflowing hot tub with sand at the bottom on the upper level. Smaller hot tub as well on upper level. (6 people max)
Adult and kids pool on lower level with slide for the kids. Nice tunnel with waterfalls surrounding as well as inside. Also a hidden pool under the waterfall tunnel ;)
Plenty of beach chairs so no need to head out early and claim a seat unless you’re picky. Cabana rentals are $$$! If you leave your belongings on a beach chair for more than an hour unattended, the staff will take it to the lost and found! The rooms are average. Can use an upgrade. There is a mini fridge in the rooms. There is a restaurant at the resort, but it’s a bit pricey as expected. You could walk the boardwalk to the neighboring resorts and dine at their restaurants. Whalers village is also just minutes away where they have a food court and lots of shops to entice you!
You can also see black rock beach from this resort. It’s about a 15 min walk on the beach. MUST VISIT! Great area for snorkeling and cliff diving. Get here early if you want a nice spot because it gets crowded. Plenty of fish in the shallow waters. It drops off and gets deep very quick so be prepared!
Costco is not far from the airport. Highly recommend stopping there to get snacks and drinks for your stay. It’s 50 minutes to The Westin so stock up!

Fabulous resort! Much better experience here than in Oahu. We had great ocean views from the room and location is so close to Whaler’s Village. They also provide shuttle to Lahaina.
The rates are bit pricy though.

We enjoyed our stay at the Westin very much. The resort is beautiful, the rooms clean and well appointed. Valet was a breeze and we liked having wrist bands to access our room in lieu of key cards. Breakfast at Waicoco was $120 for two people, which seemed excessive for entrees and coffee. They have a Starbucks onsite but it closes at 5: 30pm - bummer. No swim up bar which was also a bummer especially since they have a grotto area which would be so cool with a swim up bar instead of the weird pool they put in there. They had tons of cabanas and beach chairs you could rent for the day. Multiple family and adults only pools. Location is great - right on beautiful Kaanapali Beach with gentle lapping waves and warm sunny weather for our visit in September. The hotel is right next to Whaler’s Village, an outdoor mall with shopping and restaurants. Some people complain about the noise, but we found everything shut down by 10pm and zero noise issues. Biggest negative for us was the concierge. Could have used assistance with reservations and special arrangements for a birthday we were celebrating, but they could only book a select few island tours and timeshare tours. Couldn’t even make a reservation at the on site restaurant with the concierge. Crazy.

We went to the luau and it was very well organized. My wife has a good allergy that they presented separately from the regular meal.

My only complaint is that the prices for photos and such we're about 25% higher than we expected.

The performances were incredible and we loved the story telling experience.

Had our birthday celebration here and it's an amazing hotel. Rooms is comfy and romantic with spectacular service from the resutrants including all the hotel employees. Thank you Westin for making this a memorable memory for my family and I.

Did not stay. Stayed at Grand Wailea (beautiful place with great service). Stopped by bar near beach at Westin. Very rude woman working station outside of bar. Poor service. Would not stay there.

Had a great time. Beautiful location. The staff was friendly and followed COVID protocols. The restaurants had excellent food. The entertainment was excellent; really enjoyed the lu'au at night. Overall an excellent place to stay!

We booked our rooms months in advance. When we arrived we were told that there were no long beds available. We were given 2 twin beds. We asked if we could be upgraded free of charge and the man lied to us and told us there were no long beds available, even for upgrade. We know this was a lie because we were staying with many other friends and one couple who arrived after us was given a free upgrade to a king bed.

This place is amazing! You're literally living in paradise. They gave flamingos in the lobby, a koi pond, and birds in the lobby. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Will definitely be back here again!

Did the honeymoon thing here - amazing time! Beautiful grounds with cool birds and great access to beach, snorkle, SUP board, etc. We got an extended lanai patio which was a nice touch but only used it for drinks and hanging. Did a few cabana days - recommend booking Cabana early with beach view but don't get a beach Cabana get one by the pools facing the beach (more spacious and good vibes). Restaurants on site were all great

We loved the Lanai so I would definitely recommend getting access to that. The tower is nicer and the lanai has really nice perks. Fun drinks and u never have to wait and the breakfast and dinner complimentary food is excellent. You can get a massive breakfast there with tropical fruits, etc and coffee / juice. At night they would usually have a delicious seafood (scallops, lobster Mac, poke etc). Nice drinks at the bar!

Pretty disappointing experience overall.

Pros:
Location is great, always get parking spot, beach is very close, Beach towel is included.

Cons:
Mattress is way too soft and sinking (hotel suggested to add a board after moving is to a different room with the same problem), fridge wasn't working ~ had to throw a lot of food away, bathroom door is not properly closed, water was dripping everywhere, plug next to the bed wasn't working, bathroom is tiny and room is just so so, the room door has gap and not insulated, so it's very noisy especially when your neighbors close thier door, you can hear the bang! Additional noise the live music goes on till very late. When they advertise Ocean view, it doesn't mean you can see the Ocean ~ it's more Pool view unless you update it and pay more!

Had to deal with talking to them for hours to get these issues addressed, very frustrating.

Basically not worth the money. And the concierge may bug you daily about their Timeshare Tour to get extra points.

The location of the property is great, that’s why we come back. The upgrades they made to the place is also nice. The room we stayed in had good views…great place to watch the sunset.

Other than that, the service is meh especially at the check-in desk. We’ve stayed at other properties in Maui that has far better service and hospitality as soon as you enter. Here, all I hear is loud music as I come in so we struggle to understand what they’re telling us as we’re checking in—probably get rid of that especially when there’s a barrier and mask we all have to yell through.

The management needs to be better. Even with the upgrades, the property is pretty ran down, especially by the pool. They ask you to pay extra to sit in the nicer areas and they’re tattered and broken. Not taken care of… also they say you have the cabana until 5 but stop servicing you at 4…what’s the point of paying the extra money to be serviced and not be there for an hour that the guest is there?

If you can help it, stay at another property. I know we’ll be doing that next time.

This hotel was beautiful! Great location! I had the most amazing time! Thanks to the five star hospitality and service from the front desk staff specially Michelle de Guzman and hotel manager Selawe Tau for being on top of every detail around this beautiful property. Also, the spa was top notch!

Shocked to read negative reveiws. Iam presuming people are trying to be snooty or get a freebe. Most staff made me feel like I was a guest in their home. Hats off to the GM! Room was chic and not old money luxurious. Stayed in the Hokupaa tower and loved the lanai facility and staff. Great beach, much better than Waikiki.

Hotel should not be operated under the Westin brand - closer to what I’d expect from a Courtyard Marriott / Fairfield Inn. Common areas are nice enough but the rooms are really disappointing in ways that no incremental renovation could fix. Walls are paper-thin, bathrooms tiny, etc. Rooms were also poorly-cleaned with hand prints on the wall and a dirty bathrobe. Disappointing vs.every other Westin / legacy SPG property I’ve ever visited

Terrible dated cabanas. Would not recommend. Also do not let you enjoy the sunset there. Close at 5 but don’t tell you that!

The front desk staff was amazing and very courteous. The hotel is very clean and maintained throughout the day. Room service was so great and respectful.
