Urgent Care, Hilo HI

Absolutely disgusted after doing my due dilligence to check hours of operation today New Years Eve with your office by phone only to be turned away because management made a last minute call to close early. As a mom of five with a sick 14 month old this was completely devastating.

Horrible! We called and they told us they close at 6: 30pm. We arrived at 6pm and they turned us away because apparently the provider didn't want to work late due to patient load. I just needed an xray of my foot because I can't put weight on it. They told me to go to the ER. I work in healthcare and ALWAYS put my patients first. Choose another facility. So frustrating! We drove all the way here for them to waste our time.

Usually, the doctors here are very kind and caring when I have come in the past for a consult about a sudden urgent health concern. This time I had the very bad luck to be assigned the "doctor" Seren Tokumura. She came into the patient waiting room where I had been waiting for 30 min. I came to urgent care for a bee sting in my shoulder and also to ask for a refill of a medication which I take for flare ups when they happen. The "doctor" came into the room and began immediately yelling at me that my heath concerns were not urgent and that I had no right to be there. She tried to bully me into going to the Bay Clinic, where it is almost impossible to make an appointment. I was polite but firm, trying to keep her on track about my immediate heath concerns and attempting to discuss them. She responded by informing me that she was going to write a note in my chart that I have a behavioral problem and stormed out of the room. I never got to consult her about the bee sting stuck my shoulder. I gave her three stars because she did refill the oral portion of the prescription that I had requested. Needless to say, I will not be consulting with this doctor again for any health concerns. I do not believe that this person should be around ill or low-income people as she does not have the ability to act in a courteous professional manner. When I went out into the hallway she was loudly complaining about me to another staff member. She appears to have serious discrimination issues in treating the health concerns of "Caucasian mainlanders".

Staff was beyond amazing. Broke my hand and had to get an x-ray done and the staff was so compassionate and caring. X-ray tech was amazing, and when the staff had to put a splint on my hand they took extra care to be sure that I was comfortable. This is the best urgent care I have visited by far.

Great medical facility! Wait time was extremely long but ‘well worth it! ’. Employees are very cordial & very, very nice. Other medical offices should follow Urgent Care’s ‘how to’ services!

Horrible. Told us to go back to our country. “You guys think you’re coming to paradise but you’re not” is what a doctor said to a sick person. This place is awful.

The staff at Keaau urgent care are phenomenal! I am forever grateful for how quickly they got John tested and treated so that he could breathe again! Their friendly and efficient service calmed us both as we were terrified that he had pneumonia. They quickly ruled out Covid and even gave me the names and numbers of drs so that John will never run out of his asthma meds again! Mahalo nui loa to all of the staff that were working at noon on 10/16/22! You have renewed my faith in healthcare!

Just plain terrible, from waiting hours just to be checked in at the window then have them tell you to check in again using the iPad. Having people come hours after you and they still get checked in first. Workers talking stories while you’ll be in the room just waiting listening to them talk. Should shut this urgent care down and open kauka express urgent care again.

If you are at all tested positive for Covid with the rapid tests which aren't 100% correct as I know too well working in the ER. They will no longer see you or hear of your ailments and help you if you clearly have sinusitis common for people with polyps. This is a disgraceful practice where is the hippocratic oath.

Doctor Steele was great! Very knowledgeable and professional! She was able to make a quick and accurate diagnosis and prescribed excellent treatment options!

As an immigrant from Iraq needing medical care, it was very upsetting to visit urgent care only to see huge posters and photos on the walls glorifying the illegal invasion of my country which left my ancestral home in ruins, and my mother and siblings dead. This is not a private practice- this is a federally funded institution paid for with my tax dollars and it’s abhorrent that they can display violent political propaganda. I did not feel safe, and I cannot trust that I would be treated with respect and care at this facility.

Dr. Gutteling's office is wonderful. The staff and medical care exceeded my expectations. Friendly and quality service means a lot in the medical field.

Literally wouldn’t recommend coming here.had to wait 3 hours to get a checkup, and it’s not like i can’t just leave or anything.i paid money and leaving would mean it went to waste

I caught a bad cold and went to the doctor's office. The doctor's assistant at the counter was rude when the tablet login didn't work (I'm a tourist and don't have an American phone number). I was then helped by another doctor's assistant from the "service window". Thanks for that! The medical advice from Dr. Metz was very good. He listened to me and asked a few questions. I would come again. The prices are OK!

This place is fine if you don’t mind waiting several hours in your car to be seen, and if you don’t care that your personal information and health records will be loudly broadcast to the entire building by staff completely insensitive to privacy and HIPAA laws. On top of that, when you do finally see a doctor every one in the building will hear ever word uttered through the paper thin walls. After waiting from 8: 30am-11: 45 and overhearing all the other patients’ private information during those hours, I finally met the doctor, who came into the room without knocking and basically shrugged at my issue and said, well there might be a secondary infection so let’s do some antibiotics after admitting he has no idea what is causing my issue and offering no plan to find out what it is. He was nice enough, but utterly clueless. Google was infinitely more helpful enlisting possible causes than the doctor. In fact when I suggested things that Google suggested, he said, “huh, yeah maybe”. No culturing of the area, no further testing whatsoever, just shrugs, default antibiotics, and several wasted hours.

Awesome staff. Was traveling and got to feeling bad so I stopped by the Urgent Care in Hilo, Hi.
Staff was nice and efficient. Definitely recommend them for your medical needs.
