Wabisabi Soba & Sushi reviews
18I don’t like making poor (but honest) reviews but was disappointed and had high hopes for this place. Very limited lunch menu. The server did not bring the meals out together. They brought only one meal and it was awhile before the other meal was served. The prices are just too high for a bowl of noodles (similar to spaghetti) in a broth with a grocery store piece of tofu (the kind you buy frozen and just drop in the broth at home) slapped on top with half a teaspoon of green onions …Not much nutrition or quality ingredients for $19 USD. Really only worth $12 max. Also, take a look at the umbrella now verses in the photos online as it run down and shredded. The courtyard is pretty and the bathroom is nice but food was very low quality and ingredients ‘too budget’ for the price. The name is great and fitting but won’t come back again. Also, no parking and nearby paid lot is $9.
Best Japanese food I’ve had outside of Japan. I’m so glad I found this place; it’s incredibly special. The soba noodles are tender and flavorful and the broth is so good even my picky toddler wanted to drink down the bowl. Excellent, elegant small dishes as well. Wow wow wow! Sugoi!
We really wanted to like this place but the food was just not good. We had the tofu salad and cold soba noodles.
Loved this intimate Japanese soba restaurant. Food was great but limited menu.
Have to try!
Best kept secret in Paia! Amazing and beautiful food, super friendly service. Mahalo Shane, Malena, Chef and the crew!
Unbelievable atmosphere. You need to try it to feel it! Soba noodle is also super healthy, don’t mistake it for a generic noodle carbohydrate
A hidden gem, amazing atmosphere great food and very genuine kind crew! We ordered the Kake. Very happy to have found this spot! Will return with friends.
This place is a labor of love. Probably the best Japanese restaurant in Maui. Real traditional Japanese style.
We had a relaxed (serene) meal in the quiet outdoor dining area. All the food was delicate and well prepared. It’s good for the experienced sushi/soba lover who isn’t there for quantity.
Overall experience was great but unfortunately it’s wayyyy over priced for a soba noodle dishes. I understand the price range of all restaurants in the area and the effort that they put in the decor but for a meal that cost 140$us for a family of 4, and we were all still hungry including my kids that are 8 and 10 years old, once we got out of the restaurant. For the price I paid, I would like to be full and not still be hungry. We had 4 soba meal with a side of 4 nigiri. Maybe add more noodles and sauce would have been good in the cold option.
In my opinion as Japanese restaurant owner back home, they would need to bring they’re price a bit down to attract more people especially it’s newly opened recently.
I wish all the best for a great success since the food was good!

If you are driving to Hana through Paia you may miss this restaurant that's located just past Paia town center on the left. I've been to Japan many times and this type of a sushi restaurant is a purists sushi fan restaurant, meaning they care about quality of fish and it does taste very good, a simple, basic menu but with very limited choices. This restaurant served us tap water with no filter, the noodle soup was cold and not that interesting of flavor, they had no miso soup, no avocado, no fancy rolls, and they dont ask you if you want more tea or ask if you enjoyed food, they had one dessert on the menu for lunch, I asked if I could see the dinner menu, but the waitress said it's the same. It's completely different from most Japanese restaurants. The atmosphere is unique with limited seating and with one big expensive looking table made from rare wood, so this I enjoyed the most. We live on Maui and often visit sushi restaurants, but unfortunately I wouldn't visit here again, the menu is way too limited and expensive, we spent $100.00 and left absolutely starving. But I wish them well and hope they succeed, I still give them five star for being different, but we suffered way too much from it's limitations, I would rather eat at Nuka and have a full experience of absolute delight, just down the road.
This was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life, and one of the most enjoyable settings I’ve eaten it in. Also their music picks were fantastic.
Beautiful and authentic experience for a soba place. The 10 piece omakase sushi was totally worth it and probably underpriced for the quality and flavor. You will enjoy every bite. Don’t spend too much time deciding between the difference soba choices. The basic sauce and noodle are the same. Can’t go wrong with any of them.
Felt like I was transported to Japan. Great food, tranquil vibes. You won’t regret it.
Also should note: I came here on a rainy day and it was perfectly fine sitting at the large table underneath the roof awning. Ignore review that says to avoid on rainy day and bring bug spray. It’s not buggy
Talk about a literal “hole in the wall” restaurant! Very limited seating but very very cozy. Food was good. No complaints from the group. The desserts where tasty too. I would come here again to try other things or to have a cozy dinner. There isn’t a “roof” so maybe not on a rainy day.
Definitely bring your date here for a memorable experience! But put on bug spray before hand.
An absolutely beautiful outdoor restaurant that takes you to Japan. The service and food are amazing. The restaurant opened only a few months ago but definitely is a must visit place if you love high quality soba and sushi. They offer aged nigiri and offer a selection of rolls, sashimi and nigiri plus hot and cold soba dishes. The dashi broth is full bodied, rich in flavour but not overly salty. Everything is perfectly balanced. Service is friendly and fast. The soba texture is perfect and is the best fresh made soba I've ever had.
Such a cute restaurant with zen decoration, perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Sushi is delicious too! Great location and service was awesome!
I've been to Kyoto and Osaka and this soba here is amazing. The setting is perfection. Best cold soba with egg I've ever had.
