Great location. Beach is beautiful. Very comfortable rooms. Nicely furnished. Easy walk to shops and restaurants.

Beautiful landscape and nice pools in a convenient location with nearby options.
Pretty uncomfortable exchange over breakfast which had been "comped" on check in because of marriot status then waitress saying it was not and wife ultimately having to go to the desk to sort out the issues.
Uncharacteristic in my experience previously at Marriott properties, but enjoyable experience overall

Fabulous resort hotel, beautifully fulfilled a dream of a life time trip to Hawaii. All staff wonderfully professional and friendly. Hotel management promised us they could handle our special dietary needs. Promise kept and exceeded! For once we could enjoy vacation without having to cook our own food. Chefs and servers very careful to be sure we had what we needed, and, instead of making us feel like a burden to their plan, they seemed to enjoy the challenge and made us feel well cared for. Again, so grateful to the restaurant staff for their careful prep of wonderful delicious food to make vacation relaxing and enjoyable!

Torn on this. Smoker on the lanai below us kept smoking and hotel operator/security were zero help. Had to close our sliding glass door constantly. We called three times over two days and they just kept smoking. Hotel is teetering on being run down, but they're somehow getting away with charging $500/night. Gym is pretty sad given the size of this place - one cable machine, two leg machines, some free weights and cardio machines. Important attachments for cable machine were missing. I've seen way better at even smaller and cheaper resorts. Only negative service experience was the concierge disappearing for over an hour mid afternoon.
Breakfast is absolutely pathetic for almost $45 per person. Rooms are small. Housekeeping and front desk staff were very nice and helpful.
Property outside is well kept. Parking is $30 per day.and a big chunk of the parking lot is closed right now because they're doing roofing work which means it's hard to find close by spots.
Tennis court needs work.

We stayed here on our honeymoon. The room was very nice, we loved the pool and access to the beach. We did the whale watch tour and sunset cruise. We saw whales on both. The location is a little far away from other places in big island but that seems to be the case on Maui too.you would need a rental car. There are 2 shopping plazas extremely close to the hotel. All in all the hotel is very beautiful and I would stay here again for sure.

The room and view were fantastic, but the service was terrible as if I stayed in a 1-star hotel or less. The reception was satisfied in the morning and afternoon, but the people who worked in the reception after dinner were not kind and looked uncomfortable to my favor, asking toothpates:) I have stayed here 5 days and asked two times for amenities, which they didn't give me at the first, and they forgot every time and I should have asked again for all two request. I don't know why I have to pay this amount of money for such kind of service:)

Just finished a 5 day stay here (early July).

THE GOOD:
- The hotel is right on the beach, which is rare for the big island. This was a must-have for us.
- Location is awesome.lots of food options and stores within a 10 minute drive, which is also fairly uncommon for many of the other hotels on the big island. Fairly close to the airport and close to lots of amazing beaches.
- Lounge chairs set up on the beach
- 3 different pools.it never felt crowded. We also never had problems finding an open lounge chair around the pool (not tons of spots open, but there were always a few)
- Rooms had everything we wanted. They seemed new and updated. Everything worked properly. Nice balcony with a nice view.
-Parking lot was right next to our building. Some of the other hotels have parking lots really far from your rooms and you even have to take a tram to get around. All around this hotel was just very convenient.

THE NOT SO GOOD
- The AC had a hard time cooling down the room. The thermostat was blatantly inaccurate. It would say 70 degrees, but it felt so hot. The room service actually dropped the temp down to 65 for us, which sounds ridiculously cool, but the actual room temp would be 5+ degrees warmer than that. At the end of the day it is a minor inconvenience and didnt keep us from sleeping, but it was more warm than we would have liked.

- The beach is pretty rocky. There is also a rock shelf that sticks 3-4 inches above the sand that extended all the way down the beach as far as we could see. I got some cuts across 3 of my toes unfortunately. It's avoidable, just be careful. Some sort of water shoes would be ideal.

- The restaurant was sub-par. It's expensive and the quality is worse than the many other food options that are nearby the hotel.

OVERALL: 4 stars, would definitely stay there again. Not perfect, but a great value!

Mediocre experience. Room door to the bathroom doesn't close all the way leaving a crack which is slightly strange and the AC will shut off in the middle of the night. The service was decent rooms were cleaned pretty fast mid day, although the pool staff was slightly rude and were not consistent if you needed them. It has a great location and has a very nice beach and pool good place for families looking to have a fun time.

We stayed at the Marriott Waikoloa in one of the Hale (cabana) rooms. Sadly, the room we paid for didn't have a small kitchenette. Our coffee machine was in the bathroom which I find odd. Room was outdated and lacked shelves or more storage space with all the open space. Also, they need to add more hooks for towels. No where to hang so it would never dry properly.

Our view was not bad but not enough to see the sunset. Next time, I would just book a regular ocean view room.

Housemaid was great ans attentive. Food was okay at their restaurant.

It was definitely convenient to be able to walk to Lava Lava and walk to the beach to watch the sunset.

Lastly, attended their luau. Nice to do it once but not again for the price. You're really there for the performance which was pretty good. Food was okay. Wish we could have taken pictures with the dancers in the beginning instead at the end. It was dark and lighting wasn't great.

In general I think the hotel is great. I'm just extremely spoiled and was previously in absolutely blatant luxury hotels and that's why I didn't find this one that blatant anymore. It is still perfect for holidays with children.

We stayed with friends for a few days before arriving at the Waikōloa Marriott resort. We checked in about 1pm. The property is dated. It needs an interior paint job and deep clean. Our shower had pieces falling off. It was an ocean view but so tucked back in the U shape of the property that it might as well be a resort view.
We headed for lunch after checkin. This was the most disappointing. A “farm salad” consisted of a small bowl of arugula and three cherry tomatoes for $14. The turkey wrap was deli slices of cheese and turkey rolled to make it look bigger and fuller than what it was for $18. These dishes go for half the price in NYC. Each was barely edible.
We proceeded to the pool and discovered there was very little shade. There are two pools. Neither are respectively designated adults vs kids. This impacted our stay immensely.
After experiencing the lunch we chose to have dinner at a local restaurant on the beach, Lava Lava Beach Club. It was far superior with great service.
Having Marriott platinum status we opted for the complimentary breakfast. On arrival we learned it was only complimentary for the cold dish items. Eggs, bacon, etc would be $42 per person for the buffet. The cold item buffet is $24 which was comped. It was quite the bait and switch. It’s hard to tell which items are for which plan. $42 for some eggs and bacon is ridiculously over priced especially when you see the selections. We suffered with some fruit and tiny yoghurts.
By 9AM we were headed to the pool. Once again there is vey little shade. To increase the frustration most chairs were “reserved” by guests using towels despite signs explicitly saying it’s not allowed. There is no enforcement of the resorts own rules.
We inquired about the day beds and were informed they are $100 a day to rent. We wandered to the beach hoping for better luck. Again chairs with cushions and awnings at the beach at $135 a day. We finally found a space back at the pool. If there were portable umbrellas or enforced reserving rules it would have made for a better experience at the pool or beach.
The poolside service is strained. We opted to order at the cabana bar. After a few beers I opted to request a margarita from the menu. Unfortunately it was not drinkable containing mostly thick sugar syrup and a red died powder pretending to be salt on the rim.
Midway through the day the infinity pool was closed due to a child pooping it. This left one pool which became the kids playground leaving no water to relax by or in. Also a note there are quite a few flies which may keep you from a relaxing nap. We called it a day at that point and pack it up back to the room for a nap.
I reached out to inquire about a 4pm checkout as that is offered for Platinum members. I was informed I would have to check the day of. Highly unusual as the resort should know all comings and goings of guests plenty of time in advance.
I expressed our disappointment through the Marriott app. The manager attempted to reach me and I them a few times disturbing rests. The app is there with a chat easily used to communicate. The shower caps were fixed as we were at dinner using mismatched caps. At least they no longer fall off.
Also noting a few security concerns. We placed the privacy sign on our door. On our return the room was cleaned. I would expect that sign to be respected. Secondly I requested a mobile key after check in. I was notified to stop by with ID. I appreciate that level of security. Unfortunately a few moments later the mobile key was issued.
While with friends we visited 3 other resort properties. All of them superior in culinary experience to this resort. If you are all about letting your kids run wild and you don’t have a palate this place will be fine. Otherwise I highly recommend reconsidering plans to book here. There are alternative restaurants in walking distance should you desire real food and drinks. They also reported many guests coming to them for meals over the resort.
After finally connecting with the manager over chat we were comped our food and beverages.

We stayed here 4 nights and had a great stay. I don't understand some of the negative comments as our room was very nice and clean. It's a family friendly resort with awesome pools and nice beach. The restaurant was good and the breakfast buffet was tasty and had a wide variety (albeit very expensive, but so is everywhere else in the area - is not out of line with other hotels on the islands). Plenty of water stations around the pool to refill cups, they are generous with pool towels. We rented a paddle board and a kayak a few days, and the staff at the beach shack were helpful and got us going. There were plenty of tables and couches in the lobby area for gathering and game playing or quiet reading. Wifi was spotty at best. Almost unusable.

We came to this property for the luau. The food was great at the Luau and the entertainment was fun, especially the fire dancer at the end. I don't think the premium seating is worth the additional cost unless you have a lot of kids in your party that wouldn't be able to see the stage from 3 tables away. The first photo is from stage right and gives you a sense of premium vs non premium based on the table clothes. It is worth showing up at 4pm to get in line. They will seat you around 4: 30 and you can immediately start using the bar. Tables are round and seat 10.

The best located resort in town. The beach access, the pools and got tubs, the access to spa and tennis courts all make this a great stay. The rooms are ok, clean, but they give kama aina the bottom floor with zero view. Drinks are meh but cost the price of a bottle of liquor.
