Waimea Bay Beach Park reviews
16Very heavy waves! One must in know what to do in order to get in the water. Otherwise it is just a nice place to watch the waves break. I personally did grow up at a beach with same features (thick sand, slope toward shore, short break of big waves) so I enjoyed it. Once one passes the waves, behind them it is like a pool, but of course one must be kicking and floating. One gets tired quick.
Beautiful beach with soft sand. Plenty of space to spread out. Huge, rolling waves in November. Not recommended for anything but strong swimmers, depending on the swell. Beautiful for sunset. Great outdoor showers to rinse off, dedicated changing area in the bathroom building.
Parking is difficult if you are not there early. The day we came waves were extremely harsh, unable to swim and they come up high which will get all your items wet.
They do have lifeguards on duty, they have public restrooms
Save a trip and go to another beach
So beautiful peaceful. Very clean Waimae Bay falls across the st. Amazing I love going as often as I can the sunsets are the hands of God
Nice beach. Not too crowded, but parking is a bit of an issue. Had a blast. Even jumped off Waimea Rock twice. Marked it off my "bucket list"
Best beach on this side of the island, there's no argument! But let's be real if you're a tourist like me, you're here to jump of the big rock, it's worth it for sure. My family lives on Oahu and my first visit at age 12 they had me jumping off the rock. Plan for parking, the lot fills up and you might have to park far to walk, or just keep circling until a roadside spot opens up.
I read the reviews about what a fabulous beach this was with fine, soft sand and clear water. And oh, how I was looking forward to a swim! But the first thing I see are signs saying: No Swimming! I talked to the lifeguard who said, "Good luck getting in and out. " Apparently, not only are the waves HUGE half the year, but the rest of the time the undertow is tremendous. Also, there is a significant reef which makes getting in and out tricky. On the BRIGHT side, there is very little parking and it's FREE! That was great and a nice surprise! It means there will never be a crowd at this beach!
Parking is a bit of a cat and mouse game, but once you're in and on the beach, it's very awesome! Open to the public with Parking on the side of the road up the hill as well, this beach has a good length and is just a great place to kick back and relax.
Great little beach to watch surfers and big waves in November. There were a few cars broke into at the parking lot and I understand it happens everywhere but we didn't see anything like that at other beaches. Sand was soft and fluffy
Great spot for little ones on a calm day. Best spot is all the way to the right coming in from the parking lot. Super far from the restrooms but it's worth it of you are there with little to carry.
I love this beach. Come here every time I visit Hawaii. I've jumped of the rock a dozen times, and always bring my friends here. Every one loves it. Parking can be tough sometimes but just keep circling around, you'll eventually get parking. The restrooms are not the best but just wear shoes in there, don't go bear foot. Nice beach to lay out and chill with ice chest and watch people get tackled by the ocean waves. Be careful if your not a strong swimmer. Just know your limits and stay close to shore at first and feel if you go further out.
What an amazing spot to play, wave ride, and cliff jump. The water was amazing and the beach side was beautiful. I couldn’t have asked for a better spot. The only downside is the limited parking available.
Is there a bad beach in Hawaii? Not that I've found. Both times I have visited Waimea Beach the waves were incredible. Love watching all the water sports here. Definitely a busier and more active spot. Little surprised how many people had their small children there and in water, even with lifeguards warning parents to move them away. There are amazing beaches that are kid friendly, especially for visitors.
Waimea is definitely one of the best beaches on Iahu. The waves can get pretty rough. Listen to the lifeguards. They know that ocean so well. They can warn you against danger with ample time, but if they do, better get prepared.
It's a decent sized beach with a huge rock to jump off of (20 ft). Parking is a bit small but there's additional parking (with a fee) at waimea falls. Can get pretty busy but def a nice beach
