Waimea Valley reviews
18 Yea it is very expensive, not worth $20 per person. But if you don’t have anything else to do in the island then sure….
Now the good part:
Beautiful flowers: infact I liked flowers more than the waterfalls. You’ll find various variety of flowers and trees that it makes the walk worth it.
I wish the trail was more marked rather than go anywhere and choose your own adventure.
The shop near the waterfall is super super expensive.
Plan around 3-4 hours if you are like me who wouldn’t mind wander around and look at things.
All in all a nice time pass if you are in this area and wouldn’t mind spending some money.
Great place to visit with kids and family. All paved road to the fall and there is shuttle available. Also good gift shop and coffee
Carlos and Julio, the lifeguards at the waterfall, were amazing! They kindly offered to take multiple nice photos of my friend and I as we were let inside the falls. All around a great experience we'll never forget, thank you both!
Waimea Valley is a beautiful nature hike with a paved trail that reaches a gorgeous waterfall. Waterfall swimming closes around 4pm, but the lifeguards on duty, Carlos & Julio were kind enough to let us swim before closing. They truly made our experience unique and even made sure to take great photos as we swam by the waterfall. Special thanks to them for making our experience so fun!
We came here after heavy rainfalls so the water was muddy. Nevertheless, this place was beautiful from the visitor’s center to the waterfall. Additionally, military discount is 50% for everyone in the family with an ID. Highly recommend!
Waimea Valley is a jewel of nature. The botanical gardens are awe inspiring with hundreds of varieties of flora and fauna. The 0.7 mile hike to the waterfall is totally worth the effort. The majestic waterfall was in full flow. While swimming in the natural waterfall pool is usually allowed, it was closed today due to the weather. The visitor center has several food and drink options, a few shops featuring unique art work, exquisite pearls, and traditional gift items. The restrooms were clean. Parking can be a bit difficult especially during the peak holiday season. Plan to spend 2-3 hours here to allow ample time to soak in the beauty of nature.
This place is amazing! Beautiful plants and flowers throughout the botanical gardens with historic cultural sites and the reward of a cooling plunge in the falls at the end of your visit through the gardens. There’s also a pretty good cafe on site and gift shop. Easy place to explore other North Shore sites around.
A really nice and easy walk with some cool recreated buildings and wide variety of plants to see on the way to the waterfall. It was a bit too touristy for me - I was expecting more of an unpaved hike and the waterfall area was very crowded so we didn't even hop in.
Excellent garden with a waterfall you can swim in at the end. The hike is about 30 minutes on paved road, you can also pay for a shuttle if you don’t want to walk. You are required to wear the provided life jacket if you want to jump in the water. Lockers are also available at a cost.
Excellent choice. Plan to be there at least 2hrs so one can explore the gardens and then dip in the waterfall pool. Be aware! It is cold water (feet get numb), rocks are slippery when getting in or out of the pool, but the experience is unforgettable. Very much worth it.
Absolutely a must visit for tourist or military families assigned on the Island of Oahu. Parking is limited, get there early, 9: 00 am. The falls are very pretty but the botanical gardens are phenomenal. Easy walk or a cart ride for those who are physically challenged. Bathrooms and changing rooms are available so bring your water shoes and towels. Every third Sunday of the month military members and their families get in for $5.
Beautiful nature reserve. You can pay to take the hike to the waterfall or just park and enjoy the shopping.
There is a farmers market every Thursday from 2 - 6pm
Fall was nice, but admission lady is so ignorant. It clearly states on the website that healthcare professionals are free for admission, but she said I'm not considered a medical profession, because I'm a pharmacist. I see patients every single day and help them. All my pharmacist friends suffered along with other medical professionals to help the sick people. Maybe she still thinks all pharmacists do is count pills like back in early 1900s. We not only make medicines, but also counsel patients, provide consultation to doctors, vaccinate people, and more. Please don't let this happen to other fellow pharmacists again.
Absolutely gorgeous sites and it’s an easy “hike” (paved walking path with slight inclines) up to the waterfall/swimming hole where on-duty lifeguards are waiting for you with life-jackets.
Be sure to check out the smaller paths and loops off of the main trail to see many tropical flora.
Look into their Farmer’s Market days. Lots of local crafting and drinks/foods to try right off their “snack shack” area which also has delicious options if your hungry after your hike.
Had a great time. The grounds are beautiful, the waterfall was nice, had to walk on rocks in water which were slippery, to get to the main water area. The best part was TOA Luau. That was the best and cousin Eddie made it fun. He was very funny. The entertainers walked around to meet the guests and they looked like they too were having fun. They weren't only smiling but looked like they actually enjoyed what they were doing which was fun to see. The setting compared to a larger Luau was more intimate where they asked guests who were celebrating birthdays, honeymooners, and anniversaries. The food was really good and the interaction before the Luau was also interesting and you were able to participate. Overall the best. Recommend it.
The lifeguards at Waimea Falls (specifically Johnnie & Julio) were amazing! My boyfriend and I didn’t know what to expect going up to the falls, but the experience I had, I’ll never forget. Once you get up to the falls, the lifeguards give you lifejackets and you feel super safe! There is a shop at the top where you can buy towels, and some snack shops along the way. Will definitely be back!
Went there to do some volunteer work restoring the natural habitat of Hawaii on the Ridgeline it was a great experience and absolutely beautiful
Easy, paved, laid back hike with everything you would want in a botanical center! Safe, wall maintained and absolutely beautiful. Definitely a must on Oahu!
