We went on a Thursday night, wasn’t to busy so we didn’t have to wait for a table.
Sushi was amazing! Also got some edamame which was probably the best I’ve ever had. And some chicken yakisoba which was also great! Our server was very tentative and talkative. Fun environment. And great food! Definitely worth a try.
Only downside is parking. It’s downtown so to be expected. There is street parking right in front of the building if you’re lucky or plenty of parking garages near by.

Love coming here when in DSM. The sushi rolls are always great and fresh. Drinks are solid too! Love sitting at the bar or sushi bar to chat with the servers, always fun to talk with.

Best sushi in town. Surf & Turf/ Oishi my favorite rolls. Fun atmosphere. Don't forget to validate your parking!

Amazing experience in this place. Bartender, and waiters ALWAYS happy and ready to help (if you are going, ask for Alex he is awesome). If you like to drink start with a Sake Bomb. I’ll come back soon. Love it!

Great atmosphere and food, the rice bowls are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and the staff is always friendly!

The service is phenomenal. The waiter was friendly, engaging, and attentive. He made several recommendations and we enjoyed them all. We ordered 2 appetizers, the muscles and tofu. Both were amazing. I'm not a huge fan of tofu but the fried tofu was so light and fluffy it melted in my mouth. We ordered 6 rolls to share. I don't remember each one but I loved them all. If you love sushi and attentive service, this is the place to go.

I have always loved returning to the best restaurant in the entire state of Iowa. I will always be returning. The sushi price and quality are to amazing.

Good food. Good prices. Would rate higher but my plates were cleared from my table before I was done and prior to asking if I was finished.

First time to the restaurant on a date night and we were treated extremely well. The Akebono team member Nick was very helpful and took a perfect approach to our first visit and personal Sashimi recommendations. Everything from the miso soup, salad, and the fantastic pork dumplings. Followed by the Surf N Turf Sashimi tailored to personal dietary restrictions. 5 stars? I'd double it.
