RENT FROM AVIS, IT IS CHEAPER ANYWAY.
DO NOT RENT FROM ALAMO.
My wife rented a vehicle from this location to drive to California for a travel nursing contract. She needed the vehicle longer than we thought and she spoke with the representatives at this location about extending it.
We were told to expect the total to cost about $2000 in total charges. When we returned the vehicle it was over double that amount.
The amounts that were charged steadily increased until they were well over double what we were quoted.
When returning the car I asked the representative if it was an issue to return it to an Enterprise location because they were owned by the same company and I was assured that this would not be an issue. The representative forgot to mention that I would be charged an extra $400 "Concession Recovery Fee" for not returning it directly to Alamo.
The receipt does not elaborate on what the main charges are or why they increased so dramatically. With charges like this you would think they would have a more detailed layout of the charges.
The whole situation seemed very underhanded.
Terrible business.
Terrible customer service.
It's disconcerting that a business would so blatantly take advantage of someone who used their service. A woman who took a job across the country, away from her family, so that we could make ends meet.
It's absolutely despicable.
Go somewhere else and save yourself the headache.

We had a reservation for a car, due to unforeseen circumstances we werent going to be able to get there in time to pick up rental, asked if they could just hold it till the morning, at first they were like yes but then 2 people told us no the couldnt hold it, and if we werent there by the stated time we would loose reservation, I can say this I WILL NEVER USE ALAMO for a car rental.

Car choice was great and expedited check out and check in. Only issue was flight was delayed and was told they'd wait for our flight since had 5 reservations but they left and had to sleep in airport until they came in at 7am.

Our delayed flight didn't come in until after 1am and Delaney stayed until I got my car. Unbelievable Service!

I had a HORRIBLE experience here. 0 stars if I could. Dante (an older man working the front) refused to help me. Not just help me, but look at me or help the other lady at the front. I am clearly a lesbian and I told him I felt like he was discriminating against me. He looked at me for the first time, scoffed, and continued to stand there. I let him know I was going to write this review and file a complaint. His response? “No one will care, look at you. ”

If you support ANY minority, I would not work with Alamo! He made me feel so less than. You better believe the complaint is already completed.

I landed at the Des Moines airport on March 2nd and when I went to pick up my rental car, I was told there was none available. The front desk agent was very apologetic and said Alamo would reimburse any costs incurred from this inconvenience. I had to book a hotel since I could not go anywhere without a car. I went back the next morning and they took my receipts and said a check would be in the mail in 2 weeks. I did not receive a check and had to call corporate for them to respond. When they finally responded, they asked for receipts and acted as if they never even ran the reimbursement through. When I reminded them that they already had the receipts, they magically said that the reimbursement was being processed and will be in the mail shortly. Remember, they had told me the previous month that it was already being processed. I asked for an update and they have stopped responding to me. I’m just trying to get back the money that was promised to me. Money has been really tight and we didn’t have the money to stay in the hotel but they reassured us that we would get a check in the mail and it would not affect our finances. Here I am two months later with no check and they won’t respond to me.

Good experience. There was no line, the customer service was great, and the compact SUV we drove was in good condition and did decently well on gas mileage.

Checking the car back in was like a 10 second process!

10-21-21. The clerk was super polite and professional. She offered a slight discount since the car I reserved was not available. I travel a fair amount and can't tell you how nice it was to be treated like a customer, not just a reservation number. Job well done Alamo. You have my business.

Someone at the airport location lied and said I came in and reported bumper damage when I returned the car but I didn't know where it came from. That was a bold face lie, when I returned the car there was no damage at all and was told I was good to go. Be careful renting from here.

Alamo was a joke this trip. There was three of us in line that reserved a large suv. They had none available even though they allowed all of us to rent them. I definitely would not recommend Alamo at this location again.
