Angry Goldfish Pub & Eatery, Des Moines IA

This was maybe our 9th visit? Tonight dinner for 4 around 6pm. Had to wait briefly for a table, no problem. Seated at a high top after about 10 minutes. Host or bartender brought us menus straight away. Said our server would be over shortly.

She was over to take drinks orders and went ahead and ordered for the 7 year old, which we are thankful we did.

The place was full so we expected a bit of a wait for our food. But it was a LONG wait. Again, thankful had ordered for the kid. He had his food and had eaten it all before we were served. Also a table of 6 that came in after us got their food before us.

Our meals were fine. One had pot roast, one had brisket, one had salad with gyro meat. And child had cheeseburger and fries. In my opinion, the salad was the best dish. The brisket seemed a bit over cooked. The pot roast lacked flavor. Don't misread, the food was OK. Just missed the bullseye for us this time around. Except the brownie with ice-cream at the end! Tasty! 2 of us had plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Boyfriend had 2 drinks with tequila as they were on special. He liked the Ruby Paloma, not so much the Angry Margarita.

Service was OK. Our server was pleasant. Checked on us a couple of times. Our total bill was $70, before tip. Not bad for a group of 4.

We love the decor, the fact that it's locally owned, and have had great burgers, and a yummy poutine here. We will return to those on our next visit!

Pretty good food, like ma makes. The drinks were a little on the sweet side for my taste but I'm sure they appeal to most people.

Highly recommend the AG! If you have never been, this is a must try! This is our Southside staple. They have the best, most consistent food, drinks and customer service. But not going to lie we come here for Brooke! She is so welcoming, attentive and she builds rapport with each and every customer.like always remembering what we order! You know it's the small things!
They have daily specials but we favor the one on Friday with $4 deep eddy vodkas or even better on Sundays they have half off Sangrias. So you can get a craft which gives us each a couple of drinks plus! So we usually get at least two!
I typically come here for their crispy chicken sandwich but have I been trying to switch it up but I cannot pass on their fries and Mac n cheese so typically get both and make sure ask for ranch and garlic ailoi too!

This place is a hidden gem for sure. Our first visit we fell in love with it and have been coming back regularly since! Their mac and cheese instantly became my absolute favorite I've ever had.pretty sure I dream about it! We love all the food, drinks and staff here. The owner works his tail off to make sure everyone is taken care of and helps his staff without having to be asked.mad props to this place!

Angry Goldfish was extremely delicious and there was something on the menu for everyone in our party. The menu is one where you can’t decide because everything sounds so good. The food did not disappoint. Our waiter was very attentive and open to answering all of our questions (it was extremely loud, but it was a Friday night). The table favorites were the Poutine, Borsen burger, and the pretzel app.

The food was really great, I would recommend the Mac and cheese but order the large size because the small was very little. We unfortunately came on a Friday night and it was so busy. We waited 25 min to get a seat and an hour for our food. The waitress was very nice but there were so many people. Would recommend coming at a different time than night. Alcohol was very expensive. Pretzels were very good. Parking is an absolute nightmare.

It is a very good place to eat, they have very good food, and there prices are very reasonable. But the parking is terrible.

I love this place. The food is amazing. The first time I went I was going to order fish and chips but they were out. So I got their meatloaf. Now that is all I will order when I go. It is great.

The food was excellent! Parking is limited, so arrive early. And the place was drafty on a cold day, so bring a coat. But the food was well worth it and the service was good, too.

I've been there 4-6 times since September and every time with different people! When asked where we should eat, I immediately said "Angry Goldfish". Nobody has been disappointed! It's very close to my house too, which is way nice because there aren't many really good places to eat on the Southside!

We arrived here about 4: 30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. We heard so much about the place, we had to try it. Parking wasn't too bad, but apparently it can be tough as the sign on the door said to not park on the street and there was an overflow lot across the street. The atmosphere was warm and rustic on this cold day. Country music was playing on the stereo. The staff was amazing and attentive. I'm sure the drinks are great, but we just ordered water. I had the Boursin Burger and my partner had the Siracha Tenderloin. My burger was so delicious. It was charbroiled on a buttered fresh baked bun. They make their own garlic and herb cheese which was so good. And a refreshing pesto square accompanied it. Gourmet burger for sure. My partner said the tenderloin was spicy at first, which is his favorite, but calmed down as he went. The truffled parmesan fries, too die for. Especially with a little fault vinegar. We followed dinner with blueberry lemon cobbler ala mode. So good we didn't stop to take a picture until we were done. All the for $40. Will definitely come back.

Wife and I spent a long afternoon enjoying the pub food and custom cocktails. Both were reasonably priced and delicious. I must commend the staff, they were polite, helpful, prompt but not overbearing. Great place to visit and we will be back again.

The food is always amazing. Flavors balance perfectly and everyone that works there is excited about the special that night. The drinks follow suit with a new favorite, the angry margarita. Environment is nothing but friendly every time. Love AG!

Food was delicious! Our server was really friendly and helpful with our questions. There's not much parking right next to the building, but there's extra parking across the street and it wasn't too bad getting across the street. Definitely will stop back sometime!

Food was great! Service was excellent! They have several dishes I am going back to try. Parking is a problem. Especially on the wekends.

Angry Goldfish is one of my favorite restaurants in Des Moines. We've always received excellent service provided by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Combine the best flavors, with top notch quality, unique ingredients is a recipe for success. Guaranteed to make you crave more! Daily fresh homemade desserts, all made with love at the Angry Goldfish.

Unexpectedly nice location. I wasn't expecting the interior to be so nice when I first arrived. The service and the food were also very good.

The staff here is always wonderful, personable, and straight-forward, and the service is always quick and efficient. In regard to the food, it is consistently delicious, always filling, and has always been a great experience. Their brunch specials and drink specials are always great to try and I have never regretted ordering the pork tenderloin sandwich. In fact, the last time I was there, 5 out of 5 people got the pork tenderloin sandwich, and we all enjoyed it immensely - so that is something to consider. I have been here repeatedly and I am sure I will be back soon.

Excellent service and food ALWAYS. I moved to Des Moines in June and I’ve been to this place at least 30 plus times. Never had a bad experience.the bartenders always make me feel special. They know I like colors so they make a fruit rainbow on my glass every time. I get a lemon, a lime, a cherry and an orange. Thanks Kyle for starting the love! It’s the little things like this that make you feel special, make you have a happy day and makes you love this place so much! Beautiful decor and stories behind it as well!
