Applebee's Grill + Bar reviews
17Pretty good for a chain. I pretty much always go for the house sirloin, but I must always order a doneness less than I want on my steak. I like Med-Rare, so I order Rare to get it, worked the last two times!
I've never been to a restaurant where the place is only half full at best but we had to wait to be seated because the kitchen has just taken a big order. Let us be seated and we could at least have a few drinks and maybe an appetizer, but to have to just sit there and wait to be seated with PLENTY of tables available is ridiculous! Then when we did get seated and they took our drink order our drinks sat at the end of the bar forever. Other waitresses would come get their orders and ours just sat there. Finally we could see another waitress ask the bartender whose drinks these were and she then brought them to us. My table actually joked when they finally brought our drinks maybe we should order the next round now so by the time we're done we'll have one waiting. We were finally able to place our order and once and can't complain about the food as it was all good thankfully. After the sour taste from the way our experience started out the good food made it better. But then before I left I went to the restroom and it was filthy with paper towels all over the floor and smelled terrible. And no busier than they were you thought someone would've had the time to go in and check that out and pick up a little. I understand a men's restroom doesn't always smell the best but with all the stuff on the floor it made it seem like no one had been in there awhile to clean it. I was very glad I waited until I was done eating before I went in there. Overall I know the next time we visit Ames this will definitely be in the back of our minds when we decide to eat somewhere. Better luck next time Applebee's!
The womens restroom smelled like a hot barnyard. The floors (leak) were all wet. It was a bummer. Food and service was great, though. Glad I ate before going into the bathroom.
Don't know if it's old age and my taste and tolerance has changed but wouldn't have even given Applebee's an option of being on my what's for dinner list 1 - 2 years ago. But it's now one of the first choices if we are not staying in our own at our Snacktime Family restaurant or our Starbucks Drive-In restaurant. We did the 2 for $30.00. I had the steak dinner and he had chicken with shrimp I believe Alfredo and the Ultimate combo appetizer. Food was fantastic. Needless to say we were full by the time main dish came around. Our server was phenomenal which makes a big difference. As weird as it may be, a good server can make even a bad meal not seem so bad
Our most recent visit was very positive. We were there after 9pm and did half priced apps. Food was fresh. Our waiter was amazing.
Great drinks, but the half-price appatizers were not very clear on what was and wasn't half price.
Too many time I've order the blondie online to be delivered and they put pecans on the ice cream. Why are you dictating how I'm going to eat it when the picture shows the pecans on the blondie and not the ice cream? Right now I have DISGUSTING soggy pecans and you do this everytime as if the extra container for pecans is too much when you're already charging $15 for this dessert! This is the last time I'm ordering.
IF I COULD GIVE IT A NEGATIVE 10 I WOULD. I was not happy with my food at all. I asked for a Blue Rare Steak. The first one was well done. Second one was medium well. And the third was was medium. The cook said it's temperature was 101°. Mind you that can make you very sick. And the steak would not be cooked at all. A Blue Rare Steak has a cold red center. And should be cooked to 110°-115°. My husband got the Ribs. In the menu it says they are Fall Off the Bone Ribs. But when get got them they were very tough and hard. Seems like they need to get a NEW COOK. Needless to say I will NEVER come back.
Our service always rocks here. Some of the stuffy old people who think they're food critics can get tiring, but Applebee's always does me and my wife more than right!
Peach tea tasted like a used soup can. Food was bland. I won't waste my time or money again. Plenty of alternative places. Service ok. Price ok. Food lacking.
Service slow and failed to follow instructions. Couldn't make simple mixed drinks, or remove our empty plates and cups. Go somewhere else.
Love coming here and getting the 2 for $27 with either my dad or a friend. Can't go wrong with the spinach and artichoke dip + a medium rare 6oz sirloin steak.
Food was quickly made and so was seating. However, I was mistakenly charged someone else’s meal despite clearly writing down the total amount on the receipt. (From $12.12 to $27.39).
The food was ok. We both had shrimp. The batter on the shrimp was just a simple seasoned flour. We were hoping for like a tenderloin crunch topping
Laura P was our server today for lunch. She did a great job. She checked in on us and was very friendly. She had many tables plus the bar but still made time for us.
The people were friendly and food was good enough. Unfortunately I had a burger and my boyfriend had a crispy chicken sandwich and it was just too greasy for us. We don't eat out much due to this reason from most places anymore.
It has been quite a while since we had been to Applebee's. I was sad to see the labor shortage had hit them as well. Half of the available tables in the restaurant were left empty, and entire sections closed. If you have limited staff, I would rather see this approach than spread a server too thin and cause the service to suffer. Was very pleased with the new menu items since the last time we came.
