Asia Plus Asian Market reviews
14My kids and I love shopping here when we get the opportunity. Whenever we have appointments at the University, we make it a special trip to go to Asia Plus and shop for snacks. They have a great selection of noodles, candy, other snacks, frozen foods, and drinks. I really love their Milk Tea.
Came here with my girlfriend over the weekend to try some foreign snacks! Amazing selection and super friendly staff.
The prices of most of the items were much cheaper than their American counterparts.
Will definitely be coming back!
Excellent variety, clean store, great value items. I used to order a lot of online eastern Asian inspired snack boxes, but few let you curate them and are always so pricey. I love that we have a place like this in downtown IC so I can pick up exactly the items I want. I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing too! Only thing to watch out for is expiration dates. I accidentally grabbed a lotus root snack that ended up being 4 months expired and it seemed like the packaging had a hole in it. It was super inexpensive so I didn’t mind tossing it. Just be on the look out for expiration dates!
They actually have coconut milk with nata de coco. Straight up impossible to find sometimes, unless you go to the cute little market in the mall. Very small and more convenience store than grocery, but perfect
Experienced extremely rude cashier twice in a row. I'm a Canadian and I'm not familiar with the USD cash and coins. The cashier was very impatient, and mocked my math skills when I took my time to count the change.
Great Service and Plenty of new choices for Asian and international groceries. Highly recommended:)
So happy to see the variety of goods here in Iowa. I was finally able to find the honey butter chips I liked so much in Japan. Most goods are Korean, not much in the way of Japanese stuff. Lots of snacks, drinks, tea, as well as cooking ingredients hard to find even online. I only wish it could be bigger! Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Always friendly and helpful staff. The store is always well-kept and is consistently stocked with a wide variety of items. Definitely a place a stop nearly every time I’m in the old capitol mall, whether to pick up ingredients for home cooking or even to grab a quick snack.
Outstanding selection especially for such a small space. Several items I've seen only in Asia or west coast cities such as Vancouver. Downtown Iowa City is lucky to have this. As several others have noted, welcoming staff here, always happy to make a recommendation or help find something. Good neighbors.
Excellent selection of stuff in such a small space, especially on snacks. Place was sharp and clean. Impressive!
Conveniently placed baskets in the middle of entrance because you will need one.
Asia plus has everything from chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean spices and foods.
Greeted with a big wall of all kinds of noodles. Special ramen flavors that you won’t find at Walmart. Udon, rice, and yakisoba noodles. This was a fun wall to pick from.
In the middle of the store are the candy and snacks. A variety of Pockey flavors, wafers, mochi, sea weed and more.
If you’re a boba fanatic there are different options of pearls to buy and cook. Green tea, black tapioca and original flavors. You can also find canned milk tea drinks in the fridge and on the shelves.
Don’t have a hot pot? Don’t worry, you can buy an Electric kit with the pot and heater. Right next to that is the wall of freezers that contain all your hot pot foods. Fish balls, fish cakes, sliced ribeye steak and more!
There is a variety of frozen meats, dumplings, buns, veggies and more. I wish I had a larger cooler to buy it all.
There is back shelf is full of sauces, oils, and spices at reasonable prices. On the other side you’ll find all your needed kitchen utensils.
Over all I had a nice experience and know that I can find everything I need to have a fully stocked Asian style kitchen.
They had exactly what I was looking for, and they were willing to help me look for it, even if I couldn't read the label. (Attached image is what I bought from Asia plus) it was a great lunar new year in my dorm with my comfort food.
Amazing place to get snack and all kinds of grocery products. The store is well organized and clean. Great shopping time.
