One of the best annuities on the market and a simple easy process for the agent and client!

I guess there could be worse, but Athene is right down there. As Executor (and son), Athene did its best to be non-reponsive to me at every turn, losing not one but two sets of of their very 1970's Claim Form, DESPITE getting Receipt Notifications from Athene. It was only after I inquired about the value that I found out they didn't have my application on file, and were just sitting on it - MAKING NO EFFORT to inform me. This happened again!

Spoke with and emailed CS Rep Meldi and Supervisor Stacey many times, but Athene's system and rules are so backwards and restrictive, I FELT BAD FOR THEM, even though it was me getting the run-around. I informed Athene within 5 days of death and could get no answers as the value of the policy (estate value REQUIRED by state Probate Court) until I ultimately received the check three-and-a-half months later. Apparently, after enough squawking, proofs of receipt and a Registered Letter, they found the documents I sent 45 days prior.

Did paperwork to start annuity distribution in February to start as of 4/1 and 4/3 no distribution so I called and got the run around the 1st was on the weekend. They must assume that no one except them understands how ACH or other financial institutions work. I was insulted by level of stupidity they think their client’s are at. 4/4 and no distribution. I will start calling daily as of tomorrow. And filing complaints.

Great customer service and a great experience illustrating and processing the annuity by Athene for multiple client this year. The product is so good that it sells by itself due to the mix of indexes available, down market protection, clarity of charges/no charges applicable and great index participation rates.
And Most Importantly Athene gives Premium Bonus from day 1 opening an account as well as 5% free withdrawal after 1 year. It's a great company to work with. My clients are also happy with the products that sold so far.

Beware. Agents who try to sell Athene annuities. Stay away. They decline more business than any other carrier I've seen. I've been in the annuity industry for 14 years and as of today will never sell their products again. If what you're looking for is disappointment then go for it. Otherwise, avoid them. 3-4 weeks just to process and review suitability. 7-9 weeks before transfer paperwork is sent out. The customer service center hangs up on agents mid-call. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

A very good Company to work with. Very professional and pleasant to work with.resolved all issues in a timely manner.

But 1 star is too much. I’ve been trying to surrender the contract for 2 months. I’ve called at least three times with at least 20 min hold each time. Every person apologizes for inaccurate information the previous gave me.

My 1099 is wrong. Have talked with them 3 times to get a new one. I was told to call today to at least get the numbers my accountant could use to file my taxes. The discrepancy hasn’t even been looked at yet. I have contacted family members with accounts to get them out of Athene. Thankfully this will be the last time I have to do business with them.

My account was sold from Aviva to Athene which left my account in limbo for several years. They stopped sending me quarterly statements during this time. Things improved briefly after they sorted out their records transfer, which took years, and changed to an overseas customer service center. However, they ignored a rollover request I submitted and are now trying to prevent me from accessing my money with weak excuses. I would not voluntarily start an account with this company. Avoid them.

This was my first time visiting the site and first had to change both ID and Password as I had forgotten both. Both getting the ID and Password updated was a breeze. Traversing the site was very easy and I found fast the information I was looking for!

Absolutely terrible. They lost records of my parent's life insurance policy and have been endlessly rude for weeks while refusing to fix their error. If you have a policy here, call immediately to check if they've lost your records. If you're considering a policy with Athene, do yourself and your family a favor and run away now.

Good luck getting your money back it’s taken months of them sending forms then telling you there the wrong ones this goes on multiple times.

Leave reviews both ways. Athene does deserve this rating. Please do yourself a favor and invest elsewhere.

This company does not even deserve 1 star. My account was transferred from Aviva to Athene years ago. Since then I've only received one statement, not quarterly ones. I wasn't even notified when my loan was paid off. I had to call about 5 times to finally get that verified. Now, I'm trying to transfer my annuity finds to another annuity. They've had the documents since 11/17/22. It's 12/30/22. The transfer still has not happened. In fact. I've called about a dozen times and asked to speak to a manager. I'm always told one will return my call in 1-2 business days. It's been 20+ business days; no manager has contacted me.

This company and its officers should be charged with fraud and elder abuse. They took over accounts from other insurance companies, lied about payment and dividend history, and swindled clients out of thousands of dollars. If your Financial Advisor mentions their name - RUN AWAY as fast as you can. I wouldn't trust these guys with a cup of bird seed!

Athene's customer service is the worst. They dont care about the policy holders as they are a 3rd party company and you cant get to anyone actually within Athene. DO NOT BUY FROM ATHENE. You will not be happy. They have forms for their forms and then they wont accept what you send in because they changed the form. Worst insurance company I have ever dealt with.
