Basta Pizzeria Ristorante

Great food and table service. The staff at the front counter seemed oblivious to what was going on and took far too long to seat us. Our waiter was great and the food tasted amazing. It is a little pricey but fairly worth it. Tons of flies (black and fruit) which was annoying but only so much they could do. The front counter staff and flies are my only complaints.

Great place. I got the butternut squash ravioli and it was delicious. A bit small. But I ate every bite and may have licked the bowl.

Our waitress was AMAZING! I wish I would have caught her name, but she had glasses and wore braids tied back. I came in with a party of 9 and she was more than attentive to everything we needed! She described things on the menu in detail to us and just had an awesome attitude overall! Not to mention the food was delicious! I will definitely be coming back.

The most RACIST restaurant I have ever been to.
Sat down for 20+ minutes the waitress has brought a table sitting down after we arrived two bottles of water.while to us, a table with four Asian, no water, no greet. Even when I brought this up to the waitress if we could have some water please, she raised one of her figure and waived it a little. Then she never came back to our table and when she walked away she even chose another path to avoid our table.worst dinning experience ever. If you wanna see what easiest or Asian hate is like, go there!

Best tiramisu, very soft and nice portion size. Service was not so good order to go and no utensils to go, employe said business didn’t have any… other than that it was great cake…

Love the atmosphere of this place. The vegan options are pretty flavorless, really feel they could do better on that front. Pretty decent wine options, and I think it's a great place to go for a date or for the nicer perceived atmosphere. Sometimes I think the pizzas get about 30 seconds too much in the oven and taste overwhelmingly bitter due to the burnt flower on the surface. Definitely recommend this place.

We had one salad, the bolognese (with oricchiette instead spaghetti) and the meatball spaghetti. The handmade Pasta was delicious and cooked to the point. Sauce was was very tasteful too. Buns were also handmade, still warm and fluffy. Next time we will try the pizza.

Food was delicious, pizza was really tasty and calamari were also very good.
Atmosphere was really nice and server's were really good and friendly.

Basta has been a favorite for many years. Delicious food. Fast friendly service. Plenty of seating options inside and outside. Great for groups. The Beet Salad seems to always be super fresh. Nice appetizers. A place you'll want to return to.

Located right next to the University, this restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. We enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner. Pasta and pizza were great. We were able to sit down right away however may require some waiting time once students are back in class.

Great flavors for entree's. Ordered quattro formaggi pizza with anchovies and it was delicious.

This was the best meal we’ve had in a long time. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and had such great flavor. The prosciutto chicken was delicious and the gnocchi were tiny puffs if potato heaven. Our waitress, Ciara S, was pleasant, accommodating and delightful. What a great dining experience. Well done, Basta, Iowa City.

Great tasting pizzas especially the Salsiccia pizza. Porcini Crusted Salmon was delicious. Excellent service, food and wine.

This is one of my favorite local restaurants. Tonight it did not disappoint. My wife and I ate ourselves sick. Ciara gave us wonderful service. Always enjoy their pizza and gem salad.
