Bedrock was easy to work with and clear in communication. The process was very smooth and personable. Very happy with the work they did in my kitchen!

We bought the 2023 Parade of Homes house built by Bedrock, and couldn’t be happier with the house or the process. We met with Alex (the president of Bedrock) and Johanna shortly after our offer was accepted, and they gave us all the attention of clients building a custom home with them from scratch. Their designs are beautiful, cohesive, unique, and functional. The finishes are high-end throughout, with exceptional attention to detail. The highlight is the custom built (by Alex…) micro-shaker cabinets throughout the house that give it such a unique feel. All our interactions with Bedrock were low-stress, and I feel they went above and beyond in many ways. Would definitely build with them again!

I caught up with Alex and Johanna today about a few things and it reminded me to write this long overdue review.

I am very proud of this custom home that we built with Bedrock Builders because not only did we achieve the modern and organic aesthetic that we want, more importantly, we built a high quality home which incorporated elements of sustainability, energy efficiency and local craftsmanship.

Process
> We started our build journey in the summer/fall of 2020. It was a challenging time to build with the labile availability of specific products that we wanted and the skyrocketing prices as the demand to build continued to increase. As I looked back after we moved in, I recalled what happened when we were faced with a major setback with our exterior material selection - they figured it out and made things right. We are currently loving our multi-material exterior made of James Hardie fiber cement panels, Newtechwood composite siding and metal walls for our garage!

Communication
> I must have sent thousands of emails to Alex and Johanna. They are probably used to seeing about a dozen emails from me in the morning as they start their day. In addition to that, my husband and I are in a text group with them. What I have noticed is that they delegate each pending item to a specific person so that one of them follows up consistently on the pending item on that category and we get answers to our questions.

Subcontractors
> I was able to communicate directly with all of the subcontractors. I appreciate this as transparency is key to gain our trust. They were all very patient - for example, I must have done our electrical walkthrough more than a dozen times through the different phases of the build in addition to all of them receiving a lot of emails about my envisioned electrical plan.

I made all the major decisions for our build but my husband always likes to remind me that he was the one who found Bedrock Builders on August 2020.

Alex and Johanna: I don't think we had said this enough but THANK YOU - we are currently living the best version of our lives because of our new home!

We were warned of the overwhelming nature and likely sticker shock of custom home building. Happy to report that we encountered neither of these things with Bedrock - even when building during the post-pandemic supply chain craziness (I think we only ended up ~$20k over estimate which seems pretty unreal for a fully custom home).

Alex and Johanna did a phenomenal job of anticipating what we would want and also in keeping us on budget. They were super patient with us and took the time to explain everything to a couple of home building novices. There's a really easy to use online interface where there's a running tally of costs and selections, and the communication was on point - we never had an issue getting a hold of someone.

They work with a fantastic crew and the custom woodworking in particular is unparalleled.

In addition to all that, they're just overall awesome humans. 100% recommend.

We had never been interested in building a new house, having assumed that the process would be overwhelming and difficult. Our experience with Bedrock Builders proved to be just the opposite. We are so pleased with our new home. The guidance and support we received from the entire team was wonderful.

Building my home while living 300 miles away was at times challenging due to many factors but, Bedrock Builders made the experience less cumbersome. And the final product is just what I wanted. Bedrock is a quality hands on builder. Always able to answer your questions make changes if necessary due to supply issues. I built my home with COVID being in full force and supplies somewhere in another universe but we together persevered and the house is lovely which I now can call my home. I have had a custom home built before which gave me an advantage as to how I wanted this to be built out. Making decisions comes easily for me and Bedrock was there with me each and every step.
