Black Oak Boarding, Pella IA

By far the best boarding that we have used. They are great with the animals and the staff are informative and friendly! They are definitely our go to kennel.

This place is fine I think…major points off for not being able to reach anyone/get a response to my message over the weekend.

I accidentally left his harness on (that he hates) and still to this day I have no idea how long he had to wear it despite my calling several times and emailing. I guess I assumed I’d get a response.

When they say your dog’s bedding might come back in less than clean condition and/or your dog may appear to be sick after returning home, they aren’t kidding. I wonder how often this happens.

I understand that you can’t blame them for the stress level of your dog, but ours definitely had diarrhea/leaking overnight both apparently at Black Oak and after his stay. Never been a major problem before (his bed was not terribly clean when I brought it but it was worse when we picked him up).

I’m happy that he had a place to stay at the last minute and was able to play and hang out with other dogs. The staff are very friendly. So overall I don’t think it was a terrible experience.

But it irks me that I have no idea what actually went on. Maybe I’m just too picky but I think we will try harder to get an in-home dog sitter next time.
