I recently rented a car through the Ankeny location - worked with Sam. I kept needing to renew the rental and he was excellent to work with. Car was clean, he always provided prompt service and he was very professional and cordial. Thanks for the great service Sam!

Bald Hispanic guy who identified himself as “Sam” (I think he lied about his name) was the most rude, unprofessional and arrogant person I have literally ever dealt with. I had a reservation for 2 pm for a rental, I walked in and he was sitting in the office and he immediately came out looking bothered and annoyed that he had to serve a customer. I then told him I had a booking for 2 pm. He asked me am I under 25? I said yes I am 24. He then asked do I have a credit card? I said no I only have a debit card. He did not let me book.

I understand that part but the way he argued with me, raised his voice at me and his overall body language and attitude was absolutely despicable. Just get a new job if you hate your job bud.

Not only the worst car rental company I have ever dealt with, but the worst of any business in general. Be prepared to get charged for anything they can dream up. There are plenty of car rental companies around the Des Moines metro. This is a tiny location with only a few cars, so they have to make up for their poor business somehow. Read the reviews and save Yourself a lot of money and frustration. Unless You like someone calling You on Your vacation to make sure You have the car back on time. Only to get charged 1 1/2 times what the price of the car was. I would not rent another vehicle here if it was free.

Would leave a 0 star review if I could. This review is not about the company in general but about the fraudulent scam artist that sits behind the counter.

I rented a car for 2 weeks and had reserved a rav4 and was given a much smaller corolla cross. I didn't complain though as I needed said car for vacation. I didn't think anything of it but when I went to look at my receipt after returning the car I was overcharged. The original out the door cost of 887 had become 950.

I called customer service and they stated that I had the car for 14 days 1 hour. I rented it at 4: 47pm and returned by 4: 53pm 14 days later. Well within their own 29 minutes policy one way or the other. Then they informed me that I should have been compensated for the smaller vehicle. After all was said and done I was informed that I was overcharged by 105 dollars and would recieve a refund.

This seems to be a popular issue at this location. They rent you a car and charge for extras hoping you won't notice or just won't care. Honestly this is theft and something should be done about his ability to continue to rent/steal from paying customers.

Sam is TOP NOTCH! My husband Eric and I ONLY rent from Budget and from the Ankeny Iowa location. We rent 2 times a year once at around Christmas and the other time is usually at the middle to end of June. We almost always have to upgrade our vehicle.since because of our height and room that we need for extra storage and passengers. He is so easy to work with, makes us feel part of his family. The vehicles that we rent are always clean and very nice newer styles. We also like the location of his business, very easy to get too.

It was a bad experience! I am a travel agent and I have traveled extensively. We had reserved a car and paid for it online.
When we arrived to pick it up there was a long line. We waited an hour and a half and watched the agent not be helpful and actually rude to customers. A lady left there in tears when she was told a car she had paid to rent wasn’t available and they would have to pay more for a different car.
When it was our turn, all he said was “sorry I don’t have the vehicle available, you can pay $700 more and get this other vehicle. ”
When I rented it online, they stated one was available. I agreed to the price and paid for the rental. If they didn’t have one available, they should offer to give us a different vehicle at no extra charge. That has been my prior experience with other car rentals. I will never rent Budget again. I will not book any of my clients with Budget either.

The gentleman that runs this location is very patient and kind. I had to extend my contract several times while trying to find the right car to buy and Sam was very accommodating. I will never rent from anywhere else!

There was a negative review left a few days ago by a Jeanine Hill. I was there the same day. There were 38 customers that day, and very few vehicles available. The owner was patient, friendly and able to get everyone into a vehicle except 1 customer, who of course left a scathing review. He was working by himself, cleaning each vehicle as soon as it came back and getting it out quickly. Don’t believe the bad review. When I dropped off the car 5 days later, he remembered my son and asked about the competition we were there for. Great service

Overall, my experience with this rental car company and the gentlemen that behind the counter was outstanding. From the cleanliness and quality of the car to the exceptional customer service provided by the staff, every aspect of my rental experience was exceptional. I highly recommend this rental car company to anyone in need of a reliable and enjoyable car rental experience. I will undoubtedly choose them again in the future, as they have set the bar high for what a rental car company should aim to achieve.

I reserved the car through AARP. I had an easy pickup and dropoff. The price was cheaper than the airport location.

We went there to rent a car due to a family Emergency, and they thankfully helped us or so we thought? The vehicle was quickly cleaned, and areas were missed.
So naturally they charged us for their mistakes. We will never or recommend this company again!

I had issues with my personal car back in the beginning of April and a nightmare with my repairs/dealership. Sam at budget made sure to get me a rental and help out every time I needed to extend my rental time. I have never rented a car before and this was truly a stress free experience thanks to Sam. I have rented so far two different times and got two different cars and it has always been super reliable. I will definitely be renting in the future for future trips. Sam was amazing to work with. Our rental van was perfect for our family! We had once concern, and Sam took care of it immediately. He was in contact with me throughout the process even having the van ready for me a few hours earlier. Highly recommend renting from Budget in Ankeny. You will not get better service from another location owner! We will 100% be using them for our next vacation!
