I am not sure about rentals at every university, but I can only speak of our experience at the University of California Santa Cruz. We placed an order the beginning of September 2023 for a fridge/microwave combo. Move-in was September 23 and no fridge was there. We were told it would be about 2 to 3 weeks before one would be delivered. Six weeks later after multiple phone calls still no delivery. We canceled the order end of October and were told we would get a refund. After multiple calls and multiple promises of getting a refund mailed to us Still no refund. Left another voicemail and emails and I’m not getting anything back. Worst company ever.

Scam company. Said the fridge would be delivered before move in date, but it was not there when moved in. Contacted the company and was told it would be delivered in the next day. NO ONE DELIVERED THE FRIDGE! Basically lying and wasting your time because you never know when you will actually get your fridge…

If you want to get this for college,

Reconsider. This is a microfridge. Most unis allow refrigerators but not microwaves. A similar size mini-refrigerator will run $50-60 CHEAPER than this, and you get to own it brand new.

Most college dorms also have communal microwaves. This is a scam in plain sight used to trick unsuspecting students. Not to mention they don’t mention how filthy it is.

Took them a whole 2 weeks after i moved in for my micro-fridge to arrive and when it did the thing was completely broken and absolutely filthy.the lady on the phone was rude and didn't apologize.now i have to wait another week for fresh food and cold drinks.

If I could give this business a zero I would. Been trying to get ahold of someone for a long time now. Daughter left college after last semester and I did a service request, twice, emailed and called. ZERO response. Horrible horrible customer service. They take your money quick though.

What an absolute scam. I ordered my fridge and after a month of waiting (no return calls or emails), I cancelled the charge on my card. Within 12 hours of the cancellation I was called by Collegiate Concepts and told that "I would've given you a full refund but since you cancelled it I guess I'll tell them not to deliver it. " Scam company with even worse employees.

They do not return calls, emails or respond to the contact form on their website. Student moved out of the dorms November 2021 tried multiple times to make contact and never got a response. Today 27 January 2022 someone answered the phone. She proceeded to tell me that they had been having issues with personal and were going to get everything taken care of. When asked why they couldn’t return calls or respond to any other forms of communication she proceeded to tell me she didn’t have any missed calls or emails. She was the one who handled all of that. Absolute garbage response that lacks integrity. You dropped the ball, accept that and own it.
You would be better off purchasing a small fridge and microwave for your students. Don’t support businesses who lack integrity and the ability to take responsibility for their lack of communication.

We ordered a refrigerator/microwave combo for my daughter’s dorm room at CSU Fullerton on October 21. When she hadn’t received it two weeks later, I sent an email inquiring about it. No reply. I sent another email two weeks after that along with a message in their phone. No reply after 3 business days. Of course, I was billed immediately. I plan to talk to CSUF about recommending a company with such poor customer service. This combo was ridiculously overpriced for a rental and the price was not at all pro-rated since we were getting it two months after the start of the school year.
