Every time I've had an appointment there they messed up the appointment times or recorded the wrong month.

Strange they hold your information for five years and only help you three times every 5 years when nonprofit gets grants yearly.

CommUnity is an imperative part of the social support system here in Johnson County. They have innumerable services for anybody and everybody that needs assistance. On-staff translators ensure that language is not a barrier to getting assistance, and the diversity of their client base reflects their emphasis on accessibility.
Most will visit CommUnity for their food bank. Service is quick, efficient, and non-judgmental. Visiting CommUnity for food is little different than going to any supermarket, and their new location is even more spacious! The selection is varied and the quantity is enough to support an entire family each week.
But CommUnity is so much more than just a food bank. Their staff can help clients navigate government and charitable assistance programs, access health care, assist with rent and utilities, and countless other assistance programs.
Along with the food bank, CommUnity also provides mental health Crisis Services. From text and phone services for those who just need somebody to talk to, to dispatching their mobile crisis services team to where ever clients are, CommUnity fills the woeful gap in access to mental health services.
It doesn't matter who you are, where you have been, what language you speak, your family status, whether you're employed, able-bodied, or going through a rough patch in your life- CommUnity is for everybody seeking understanding, compassion, and humanity.
Johnson County is much stronger, more unified, and more secure because of CommUnity and its volunteers.

The organization has been instrumental in helping me to become established in Iowa City. If it wasn't for some of their services I wouldn't have water, a winter coat, a mailing address when I arrived, and food. Thank you for your help and for future assistance!

Can't believe that people can be so nice and understanding to the needs of people in the community. Plus EXCELLENT food. Would be nice if they had more vegan food choices especially nondairy milk.
