Costco Wholesale, West Des Moines IA

Fantastic grocery store and a whole lot more. The selection and quality cant be beat. But expect long checkout lines. Many packages contain too many items for a small household to use. The hearing aide department is top notch! I've heard the pharmacy prices are the best. So glad I joined.

Best place to shop. Make you know about their return policy which is the best ever. And know that they only make few percentage on every item. They need us to keep our membership! Enjoy

Overall great except I do not like that if a family member is with me, y cant they also by groceries? Costco should be glad they want to purchase some of their inventory. I understand the whole deal of membership but they are there with a member. Also If I am making a purchase for a client, Costco cannot run a second purchase, they can subtotal his purchases then run mine. I need separate receipt and he has his own bank card that I am trying to make him independent and learn to make his purchases. Love the store just a little frustrated.

Great selection, friendly and helpful staff. If if had a parking garage like the one in Coralville it'd be a 5 star.

I was given a gift membership and the desk person convinced me to upgrade to an executive membership. I only wanted one item, a carpet spot cleaner by Bissel, and could not find this item so I asked a worker standing next to the online sales terminal. He checked stock then told me the last one was sold 2 months ago, then walked away. At this point I remarked that Costco should state online if the items listed are available in their stores, he turned, shrugged his shoulders, then kept walking. I then went to the front desk and told them I wanted to cancel my membership, the guy behind the desk then became very helpful and told me I could order the spot cleaner online and it will be delivered to my home. I agreed to this and we went back to the online terminal to make the order. This guy could not get the computer to start an account for me, so at this frustrating point I affirmed again to cancel my membership, which he then did and I went to a Walmart and within 2 minutes after entering the door I had a spot cleaner in my cart. All in all, I will go to Sam's Club for bulk items and Walmart for smaller purchases. I gave Costco more than a chance but the rude employee and ineffective manager were too much for a 70 mile drive just to get there, 140 mile round trip.

We are there every week, sometimes just for staples, but constantly find new (and usually incredible) items. Great service, great prices.

Love the pharmacy. Dr. Chuck is the bomb! He goes above and beyond to get things done. What a great asset as an employee!

Costco has the BEST return policy ever! Their employees are always helpful and friendly. The store is always clean and organized.

So many fun, international goods, and unique options at a great price! Try some samples, buy things you didnt know you needed, and best of all is the return policy and free extended warranty on electronics!

Rude cashier. Generally everytime I go it's a great experience, but this was the worst experience yet.

This place is awesome if you can use multiple items in bulk (who couldn't?). There is only one downside and that is the huge crowd that is almost always there.

Very rude customer service. Went to Costco for my mom, had her Costco card and credit card with her name on it but was very rudely told that I couldn’t purchase the items for her. They will be losing our business simply for inconveniencing us and for the horrible customer service.

Hats off to the staff at the Des Moines Costco! We had no choice but to come three days before Christmas and had resigned ourselves that it was likely to be a chaotic place full of grumpy people. Boy, were we wrong! There was an employee back in the fresh food section ready with a smile to track down an answer for us, the layout of the store handled the high volume of people well, and everyone from the checker to his helper to the guy fetching carts from the parking lot were friendly and smiling. Thanks for such a lovely experience!

Paid $1200.00 for a 75" TV. Display model. Took it home. Noticed flaw in picture. Back to return in less than 24hrs later. Currently in a dispute with Costco because they say they didn't sell a damaged TV. And THEY DID! I just want my money back. This company will never get another dime from me.
Update: After nearly 2 hours the issue was resolved. Store manager decided to give us the "benefit of doubt" and returned our money in full. Stressed and thankful. No more display electronics for this household.

It’s Costco. Usually always busy (especially since this is currently the only location around DSM). Staff is always friendly, however and there is always good sales if you know what to look for.

Great values on appliances, food, gas, clothes, tires and more. Nice flower selection, and liquor is almost too cheap. My wife won't let me go alone, unless it's winter and she wants to stay home to watch football. I rarely get out for under $200.

Well they had good deals and a wide variety of things and we spend an hour and half in the store and pick out thinks we wanted just to get to check out and find out that we had to be a member in order to purchase anything.

I love that I can buy organic beef and chicken for merely the same price as the non-organic at wal-mart. I know most stores have this, but I still appreciate the satisfaction guarantee return policy. It would be nice if there was help scattered around so when you can't find what you're looking for you can ask.

This Costco acts like it's a privelidge to buy from them. The Auto Center oversells it's products and act like it's acceptable. Arrogance and " We don't do that" is the norm.

I've been in a dozen different Costcos, and this is by far the best one in the region. Easy location, cleanest, best lit, best to navigate, great variety, and best food court. The overall store staff and management of other stores doesn't even come close to this location. The other locations have more Sam's-style stores with widely varying staff quality.

At the WDSM Costco, I am unable to tell who is new, because the staff training is so consistent that everyone appears to be a veteran. This is the only place I shop because of the staff.
