Courtyard by Marriott Des Moines Ankeny

It’s a clean and decent place to stay. Rooms smell a little stale but it works. Nothing is wowed me. The bathrooms need to be updated. The tiles on the shower are old and dingy. It’s right by w Casey’s so that was nice

I came here for an all day conference. As a new mom, I need a room to pump in and asked the front desk where I could do so at. Boy was I surprised when they allowed me to have an entire hotel room to myself! I was able to store my milk in the mini fridge in the room until the end of the day and felt very supported. I will absolutely be back

It's a Courtyard, so my expectations were low, but this newer build was pretty nice, service was good, location is good and safe, rooms were clean, on-site options for eating/drinking were well above average, especially for a Courtyard. The stay was pretty good, overall. Courtyards don't provide complimentary breakfasts, so we made due by getting breakfast food ahead of time.

It's a decent hotel. Stayed here because the hotel I wanted was fully booked. The shower curtain has very visible mold and the bar/restaurant does not stay open for the hours listed on the website.

Almost 5 stars. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was impeccably furnished. The breakfast was hands down THE BEST I have ever had at a hotel without a full restaurant. The bed was supportive yet soft and the bedding was like a cloud. I wish I could give five stars but the air conditioner rattled so I had to turn it off at night to sleep. Additionally my room was one of the few with balconies. It is like the hotel forgot they had them, there was a wasps nest, cracked tile, rusted rails, and filthy windows. I still wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the hotel again though.

A bit further off I80, but clean and modern rooms and lobby. No bistro food, since they have no cook. Experiencing the same as other areas of staff shortages, but got my Starbucks drink and Bonvoy credits for inconvenience. I'm not sure I felt it as sanitized as other locations but that could be just Iowa. Rooms were clean and common areas are kept up. No issues with parking.

One of the worst Courtyard Marriott’s I’ve stayed at. The hotel/rooms are very worn…dingy carpet, mold in the showers, and uncomfortable beds. It was a super hot week and the air conditioners are on an eco mode. I would get my room to a fairly comfortable temperature, leave for the day and when I got back in the evening it was a sauna. We just checked out after a 4 night stay due to a faulty fire alarm that went off at 5 in morning. The only bright spot is the friendly front desk staff.

Very busy hotel but my room was quiet and comfortable. Very clean room and loved the shower. Breakfast was outstanding, we had the “eggs your way” and the french toast with strawberries. Customer service was exceptional. This will be my go to hotel when I’m in Des Moines.

I stay at a lot of courtyard hotels. Don't have any real problems. Just other courtyards I have stayed in I liked better. I am at their ambassador level on their points which usually means an upgrades that were not offered to me.

Good business hotel near to Des Moines where I spent some days during my business trip in Iowa.
Very clean and big rooms, nice bathroom, and kind staff.
A very good point is the rooms are very silent.
There’s also the possibility to make a breakfast here, but personally i felt not so fine (I found and hair in my dish) …i know that could happen but at the end my final opinion of this hotel is quite good.

Rooms not as nice as hilton next door. Shower has mold. Breakfast is purchased but made to order. Food was good but slow to arrive at table. Room has nice Balcony but mine was right above lower roof which allows easy access to/from other rooms via roof so i would not leave door open for fresh air at night. Small amount of trash on roof not nice to look at. 3 stars.

We had our daughter's wedding at this venue. Ann the event planner is amazing! She covers every detail. We truly just enjoyed the day and they took care of everything. The food and bar manager was great. She communicated with us throughout the night. The chef makes amazing food. We had prime rib and made to perfection. They served our 350 guest quickly. It was top notch food and service. We had a 5 star wedding thanks to courtyard marriott in Ankeny. Thank you

Weird experience. Paid over $200 for my room. Not as clean as I prefer but the weird experience was breakfast. They apparently seve breakfast from a Starbucks in the lobby that serves a limited menu. I think you pay for breakfast, but that is fine. I go downstairs and it is closed. The hotel desk said no one showed up for breakfast so the Starbucks guy went home as he does not get paid if people don’t show for breakfast lol. First of all.it is 640 am on a Saturday and everyone is still asleep. Then.what type of work arrangement did this guy sign up for? There are several other hotels in walking distance, choose them.

I would give them a 5-star rating but they are not checking all the boxes right now. It seems to be a product of coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is a VERY limited dinner menu right now at the bistro - burger, chicken fingers or a salad. Not exactly dinner and drinks. Breakfast was also limited but not as much. Missing a lot of items they normally would have.

Overall though, staff that was there 3 years ago when I was last there is still there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely their star quality there. Rooms are clean. I even did a dust check and was surprised to find.no dust! Good job!

The place isn't perfect but it seems it is managed well and the people working there care about their job and people they come in contact to. Looking forward to staying at the conference again there next year.and hopefully fully operational!

Hot tub seemed to be in need of a clean.

Additionally, the gal that was suppose to show up to make the breakfast never showed. This was a huge wrench in my plans. I was on a very tight schedule for sleep/time and was counting on the breakfast.

The staff were all quite nice and was a redeeming factor in the stay.

This was a pleasurable stay. The location was perfect for our needs - close to restaurants, easy to get to the VA, and stores accessible. The hotel was clean with a friendly staff. It was comfortable, and we will plan to stay here again when we are in the area.

Feels new. Has everything and located to get you downtown Des Moines in just minutes. Lots to do nearby.
