Deer Run Golf Club reviews
17Played this course a few times this season. Let’s start with the warm welcome you receive when showing up. Great service, awesome LONG course. Get out here you will love it!
I had never been to Deer Run before spring ‘22. The layout is amazing. Watching the month to month improvements being made is encouraging. If they can get this course in good condition I can’t think of another DSM area course that will be as much fun.
Solid course, the staff was really nice and welcoming. My friends and I have only been golfing a couple of times and the staff on site was very helpful in explaining the rules and etiquette of the course.
Wouldn’t go back people were drinking and almost hit us 3 times. And told them up front they were nice but didn’t seem to care.
Thursday 8/4/2022, We drove from Des Moines metro to this course. My golf partner and I had a fantastic outing. The young gal at the front desk was courteous and respectful. She was very helpful and got us going in quick minute. The course layout was challenging. Love the hills and the water hazards. Some golfers are not up to the challenge, but we love it and will likely come back again and again. The greens were nice and cooperative. The fairways we're wide and giving. Overall we had an amazing time. The courteous young gal at the front desk and the challenging course equate to an amazing time. Already book our next outing here. Truly an amazing gem of a course.
The course is making a great recovery, can’t wait to see what the new owner can do with it- truly is a goldmine with a ton of potential. Awesome course with some really challenging holes. Will be back very soon.
Do not mistake this for last year’s Deer Run.
What a difference a new owner can make. I played Deer Run on Saturday June 18,2022; based on reviews from last year I wasn’t expecting much. But I would like to personally invite everyone who’s had a bad experience to return, it was awesome! It’s a course well on its way to recovery after years of neglect. The greens were well kept and the fairways were green as I’ve ever seen. And the course itself is no walk in the park! Number 5 is still stupid hard; every course needs a hole like that.
The staff was awesome and the hotdog was tasty and the course was 100 times better than it has ever been. Do not forego a round here if you get the chance.
Nice layout and pretty challenging for an average golfer. Poorly maintained, fairways were brown, (the has been in a dry spell, but irrigation is present in fairways) the sand traps are being eliminated and grass has been planted in them. The greens are in very good condition. Should be ashamed to charge full Friday rates for the condition the.course is in
I stopped out to check it out, never been there before. Went to walk to the first hole to get a look at the course and got run down by the attendant and told I could not walk the course. Guess I won’t be playing here if that is the kind of service they give.
My 1st impression was not good. She'd for a clubhouse with RRs in the cart shed. But after getting on the course I found it challenging and very fun. The fairways were in good shape during a drought and the greens were in excellent shape. For 34$s in green fees, well worth that.
Have played this course twice now in the last 2 weeks with my son who is just starting with the game. Could use a bit more care but not bad for a public course. Has a good mix of difficult holes and easier holes. Will definitely be back again
Take notes from this golf course on how NOT to attract customers. Posting a super hate filled sign out front is tacky and unacceptable BUT it does make it super easy to determine where to spend our money.
Course is in truly horrible condition, and the staff is awful. Literally my worst experience golfing ever.
I used to live in Indy and still use several businesses there. Iused to work at Simpson and have been at Deer Run many times before. What's going on? I can't believe that you've posted such a hateful and political message on your sign. Shame on you! What on earth are you thinking? Are your customers only one political party, or are you just so well off you can afford to chase away anyone whose political beliefs aren't yours? I'm an Independent- and if you're representative of the GOP then I'm voting straight blue for the first time in my life! Again, shame on you for pulling a bigoted, angry and juvenile stunt like this!

Horrible condition rough was very tall not maintained and the tee offs was mostly dirt not taken care of. Recommend going to shady oaks for a cheaper price and nicer course
I am not a golfer, but my son and friends are. I know they have played on your course. They, of course, will not be patronizing your business in the future because of your hate policy. This country is scary enough with a madman at the helm who incites violence, but people like you who don't shut his hate message down are truly to blame. Shame on you!
Wish I could give a no star review. Not only is their golf experience “sub-par, ” but they now have a large sign hung by their entrance that says “Hate and Intimidate Dems Policy. ” Now we know where they stand politically, but what a hateful, tasteless, and unprofessional way to do so!
