Dubuque Shot Tower reviews
5It stands out in the Debuque skyline but, it's kind of in a work zone. There is a little sign to explain what it was but no access to the site. After about five minutes you are ready to go.
There is a sign to read at the base of the tower that is informational. It was an interesting read and 5 min visit.
So glad the city is preserving such an iconic piece of history! My mother made her first trip to Dubuque to visit us and was struck by the city's willingness to restore and repurpose Dubuques history! Most cities and out with the old in with the new. Dubuque has done an amazing job to make the old important and vital again! Shot tower is just one of the great examples of thier pride in their towns history!
Construction is going on around there, so I don't think you can get as up close as previously. A piece of historic Dubuque that is still standing.
If you're history nerds like us, then you'll enjoy the history surrounding the shot tower located right off the Riverwalk. Unfortunately, you cannot go inside. Definitely worth a stop and photo op
