Earl May Garden Center reviews
16If you purchase a $400 tree and take it with you, you get 25% off. If you buy a $400 tree and pay them $200 to plant it you get no discount on the tree. Makes sense to you? I'm headed for Culvers
Very knowledgeable and helpful. Picked up all the stuff to pre plant garden plants with the grandchildren.
Friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable staff! Great selection of plants & flowers.
Probably the worst experiences I've ever had with Earl May. I've been here multiple times and if I see the Manager (Traci) I just walk out she has been terrible to deal with and does not know anything about trees (on one of the occasions I was there she tried convincing me my oak sapling would need 10 gallons of water a day. That's how you cause root issues.) The lack of knowledge and understanding of trees is astounding, I thankfully a couple of the employees there know what they're doing Between that and how rude she was I strictly stick to the Edgewood location unless I don't have the time.
Great place to go if you don't have much of a green thumb. Staff there are knowledgeable of the plants and what type of sun and soil will keep them alive. They're also always really chipper and friendly as well. They have more than plants though. Patio furniture, pots, statuary, tools and plant foods and pesticide are all readily available. A little something for everyone. Minus 1 star for horrible concrete walks and parking lots. Can be tough to push a cart and more than a few tripping hazards.
Went to Earl May today to pick up some Liquid Fence concentration. I was appalled when I took it to the register and it rang up for $61.99 (40 oz container, before tax). I immediately asked to make sure that price was right and it was. I got online and found it (32 oz) at Lowe’s and Amazon for $34.98. That’s about 1.09 per ounce, whereas Earl May was selling it for 1.54 per ounce. I just can’t see paying $27.01 for 8 more ounces. It just doesn’t add up.
Time to get more competitive Earl May if you want to stay in business, you’re too expensive.
I’ve even switched to buying my annual flowers from local hardware stores or Walmart due to the exuberant prices at Earl May.
Ryan was AMAZING. He worked with me for over 30 minutes, past closing, and had answers to all my questions and more. He had ideas for all of my inquiries and knows his stuff backwards, forwards, and inside out.
I’m coming back tomorrow to purchase a massive quantity of plants and mulch for my client SPECIFICALLY because of Ryan!
Super nice manager who is always helpful and knowledgeable. Nice variety of home and garden needs.
Very happy with their service and help. My new King Crimson Maple was planted this week by their staff and I am extremely happy with my new tree.
Beautiful place I must say and very well kept plants. I'd say it would serve well for traditional gardening needs and then some. Staff is very friendly and willing to assist when called upon.
Went in March 9th, 2021. Outside is still bleak but inside they’re prepped for spring. Great selection of products a to get your yard and garden ready fro spring. Used to work there and the employees there are ready with information and suggestions to help you out whether it’s houseplants, garden, yard, or landscaping.
Sweet mother of god. It’s a good thing I haven’t been here before or I would be more broke than I already am. Absolutely stunning garden store. They had a great variety of indoor plants and most of them in multiple sizes so you could choose to go all out and get the 5 foot tall fiddle leaf fig for $$$$ or get the little pot for $ and grow it yourself. Also the planters were super reasonably priced. That’s not to say they were cheap because they weren’t but as someone who has 40+ potted plants around my house these were solid, beautiful, and very fair for the quality.
A+ for selection and quality, F+ because they pulled a target on me and I spent $100+
Yes, I recently tried to purchase a Christmas tree from a local tree farm however they were sold out. They redirected me to Earl May and I was very disappointed to see that your selection of trees were not only sub par to those at the farm but easily TWICE the price if not more. Ended up buying a decent tree from Menards for exactly the same price as what the local tree farm was charging.
I went there looking for plants for the frog terrarium I'm creating. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I purchased 2 small ferns. I will go back when it's time to add more plants.
Only safety precautions they had was plexiglass for cashier's. No social distancing by staff or customers.
Nice store but I was very uncomfortable. My husband and I had masks, but few customers or staff did.
