El Azteca, Ames IA

Every time I have been to El Azteca, I have had an amazing experience. The servers are great. They're very attentive, and the food is always quick to the table. Drinks are always quick as well. Cost is reasonable.

This was a pleasant experience. The place was clean, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. I had an enchilada, chili rellano, a chalupa, and a jumbo mango margarita. Hubby had mixed fajitas and a bud light. Perfect portions.

What comes to mind when I come here is “firing on all cylinders”. Every time we have come here we are met with warm, friendly, and very attentive service. On multiple occasions (including today) we got our food from the kitchen fresh, piping hot and delicious within less than 5 minutes of ordering. For a Sunday at lunch that’s incredibly impressive. Every dish we have tried thus far has been delicious and well prepared. The atmosphere is clean, fun and welcoming. Come expecting a restaurant that is truly, “firing on all cylinders”
This place is sincerely phenomenal.

This is by far the best mexican restaurant in Ames. The staff are always on top of it, and the food always comes out quick.

This was great my mom and I were just looking for some good food while staying in a nearby hotel and this was perfect. The service was so fast and amazing everything was great as expected. I would recommend it to anyone.

Carnitas were very good, the Chile Verde was amazing! Service was not very good. We had to ask for a glass for our beer. Server never checked back after food was served and we had to stop staff to ask for napkins a couple of times. Chips and Salsa were average. I rated this a 4 instead of a 3 because the food was so good it made up a little for the poor service.

Great burritos! Friendly staff, and the complimentary salsa was fantastic. Will definitely visit again when I'm back in Ames!

Can get a little busy depending on the season and time of day but food is delicious and staff is efficient and friendly. Best Margaritas anywhere! It is our go to place.

We have eaten here for years. Sometimes as often as once a week. And I've never tired of it. It's just really good Mexican food. I really wish there weren't so many TV's.

Food was absolutely fire. I've never had chicken that was genuinely juicy and not dry like this. The burrito I got was solid albeit the red seemingly enchilada sauce was an odd choice it was good. Our server was very friendly and kind and they're margaritas and daquiri were good.

EAT THE SHRIMP TACOS! It's a perfect balance of flavour, crunch and textures. The shrimp itself were big and they don't skimp on portions. It's served with pico and their special sauce. It is BY FAR THE BEST SHRIMP TACO I ever had! And the service was beyond excellent. The waiters were very friendly and professional. The price definitely justify the value and quality of the food and service.

Service was a little slow but had a large party to wait on and restaurant was pretty busy.

Wonderful food, outstanding service! Walked in with a very large group, they set up for us, and we were done eating within an hour.

We had a good meal of taco salad and fajitas. The staff was friendly and attentive. Special thanks for opening the restaurant back up after closing to get my husband’s cell phone that he left on the table.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants and restaurants in general. All the food is always fresh, well seasoned and hot! Fresh chips and salsa are provided, which is a must-have. The chicken fajitas are my go-to dish. Portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable. This is a great place for a date night or just dinner and margaritas with friends. I've been several times and will continue to go regularly in the future. They also offer carryout and it's always very fast!

The person in charge of the restaurant was excited for a sweet since one had already consumed more than 300 dls and the sweet cost 25 cents.
