I went there to buy a treat. Bought the fried ice cream. It was fast. The presentation was great ️. Service was perfect. Restaurant is very pretty. Chairs have paintings. Employee knowledgeable and efficient and courteous.

Amazing food and service! I live 3 hours away but everytime I come to town, I have to stop to eat lunch or dinner here.

I ordered the birria tacos. Not impressed
When I order birria I expect pan fried tacos. A corn tortilla dipped in the consomme and then cooked on the stove top with shredded beef and cheese. It ends up being crispy with the cheese oozing. There was no consomme. Instead I had refried beans with cheese to dip in. This is not how you do it. When I opened the food it was basically street tacos. Will not be back.

Great food, great atmosphere. Great people. Couldnt ask for better service. Margaritas are the way to go for drinks.

Good food. Quality service. My only complaint is it is not as allergen friendly as I would like it to be.

It's ok. Not the greatest. But have only had the same meal and only when I go with boss on Saturdays we work over. Staff are very friendly and everyone seems to like the food. Guess I'm gonna have order something different. I would still recommend it

Awful, can’t even give it a star. Chicken was old and was tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave. My beef was horrible. If you are thinking about going here. Change your mind and go a block away and go to the other Mexican restaurant. Seems like the other restaurant takes pride in making there food. Do not go to EL MEZCALITO! Go to the other restaurant down the road! Just being honest!

A very inviting atmosphere here. Authentic Mexican food that most Mexican restaurants around here seem to lack. The prices are more than fair, especially with the serving size! I was very pleased with not just the huevos rancheros, pero the margaritas are fantastic. I also heard that the owner came from California, bringing some of that California taste and food culture to Iowa. Love it. Will more than likely come again for breakfast and lunch. Owner is very kind and staff are very pleasant and respectful.

Authentic Mexican food in the most unique location. If you happen to be in Nevada Iowa and looking a good place to eat wether it be for a quick lunch break or a evening with someone special this location is worth checking out. I came for lunch. My food was delicious and in a very timely manner. Definitely will return.
