Maintenance is super slow and I don’t know what’s wrong with those apartments but I am calling office for hot water all the time. Unfortunately this place is disappointment.

*UPDATE*
5 STAR for me, still.
Since change of new management recently - I'm still satisfied if not more. I get responses quickly which is huge for me and they truly care about their residents.
I needed emergency maintenance done due to plumbing issues and both gentlemen who are very kind (Vinny & one other guy - I feel bad for not remember his name) went above and beyond! Outstanding work! They both made sure each problem was working properly instead of just putting a band-aid on it like the previous maintenance has done in the past. Plumbing is the only issue I have had since living here but that's Des Moines pipes for you.

I'm giving a 5 star because so far I really like this place and I moved in on the 17th. The apartments feel more like a home than most apartments do and I like the layout/fireplace. It is a breath of fresh air compared to other apartment complexes I've lived at. I'm hopeful that my experience continues to be wonderful. Only thing I will say is the speed of communication could be better but other than that I have no complaints currently.

Joe has gots to be one of the best assistant managers we ever had out of all apartment complexes! He’s extremely understanding and ALWAYS puts himself in our shoes. 10/10 Joe! He has made it very easy for us to continue renting here

Joe and the whole team are amazing they really genuinely care about their residents any questions I had he answered and whenever I left a message they always got back to me writhin the hour great customer service would HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The new ownership is making good strides on improving the property. Landscaping has been improved, plumbing in all the buildings is being upgraded, apartments are being remodeled. I've enjoyed living here and seeing the new ownership taking back pride in their property.

Decent place and area wise, but the staff and service are really poor. Staff are unresponsive, and maintenance requests go unhandled. Staff are not in the office during their stated hours and cannot be contacted through calls either. I have had to wait for days for maintenance to fix address any request, and I have never been able to get a call back from the management office. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Please! DO NOT! Live here, me and my roommate was doing a apartment application together, they want you to pay for application fee before get a prove if you get a apartment room or not.wrote place to live too. Me and and my roommate paid $650 for all the application fee but somehow they said our application denied and we did NOT get out money back too. Pls, if you looking for a place to live, NOT HERE! Because they are worse and the outside pool is gross, water was so green for the summer season.

My boyfriend and I applied for an apartment here on the 22nd. We never received a response about our applications. No news if we were approved or denied, nothing at all. My boyfriend followed up multiple times. Half of the times he called, no one answered the phone. Whenever someone answered, they just took down a message and said they would pass it on to whomever does the application approvals. We even used their " contact us " form on the website to no avail.

Because they updated the website, we can't even log in anymore with the applicant account logins that we'd previously created. I'm not sure why they find it acceptable to keep people in limbo.

I see responses to other reviews that they're under new management. However, I'm not sure if it's much better since I called a few times on Monday and didn't reach anyone. The other contact number on the website didn't work. I also used the "Contact us" form and still haven't received a response to my inquiry. We will be applying elsewhere and would advise others to do the same.

I had scheduled a virtual tour and was left waiting for 40 minutes. I then tried to call them (like I had before the tour was supposed to start) and had been answered to be hung up on immediately 3 times. I unfortunately only saw these reviews about no call and no response on tours just now. I don't think I will be trying to reach out again.

DO NOT, under any circumstances live here. These apartments are falling apart and the company that runs them is predatory. My experience since moving in last year: They lied about giving us a second floor apartment with a fireplace and washer/dryer, they gave us a bottom floor apartment with a broken central AC that wasn’t fixed for over a month, that was the hottest week of the year too. Both of my closet doors fell off when I opened them the day I moved in. The shower drain clogs very often. The heat broke in January and wasn’t fixed for two weeks, our apartment got to 57 degrees every morning that first week. Our AC drain clogged and leaked water into our carpet just last week. The pool opened 2 weeks late and is currently closed for the 3rd time this summer because of algae. This place is unbelievably unprofessional and the maintenance staff is constantly trying to keep up with these awful apartments. Live anywhere but here.

The process was all confusing but heather helped me an insane amount! Big shout out heather give that lady a raise or something, seriously. She basically talked me through the entire thing over the phone and was very polite and helpful

Customer service is a joke toke over 2 weeks to talk to someone about renting a unit and the price changes all the time fyi! Online price was $600 cheaper then what they told me in the office!
The office lady is nice tho.

Also crow tow tows here so that was a deal breaker!

Had a virtual tour scheduled, they no-showed and never contacted me, left me waiting for over an hour. Judging by the reviews, that seems to be a pretty common occurrence. Other reviews of mold and leaks, maybe I should be grateful I dodged a bullet. I will gladly take my money elsewhere.

BEWARE! Element contracts with CROW TOW and will allow your car to be stolen by them if it hasn't been moved in a few weeks (if you happen to be out of town for Christmas break). True story

This place is horrible. They don't do pest inspections at all. No office staff either. I honestly don't think they care about their tenants. They also are horrible at communicating with tenants.

Also with trying to pay rent thru the portal and it doesn't work don't call the main line when no one is in the office even tho it says office is open, you'll just get their hotline service and they can't take payments and then you are stuck with $100 late fee, when I am not late. Also people and communication do not work here.

DO NOT LIVE HERE.

Been here 3yrs and it has been miserable

Literally the worst apartment company to try to apply for an apartment. Spent 2 weeks trying to get information on the apartment I wanted to apply to. No one on the phone had an answer for me. I had to come in person multiple times to get an answer to very simple questions such as floor plan and if my application was finished or not. Then I thought my application was finished but it ended up not being done. So I was waiting 2 weeks for the application to approved and it turned out it wasn’t even finished. They had told me it was. So I was left with 1 week to find a new place to live. Super stressful, not worth my time it was a total waste of time and money.

Still one of the best apartment complexes in West Des Moines. Layout of the units are great, It's not just some Box. My wife and I have lived here for 6 plus years, in 3 different units. Management and maintenance staff are always on top of things ever since Tri Cap took over. Kelly and Taylor are Always extremely attentive, professional and helpful! We have been and continue to enjoy calling the Element at Valley West our home. Thanks!

We were never ever able to see anybody previous to renting the apartment. We were never allowed to show them all the things that were wrong with the apartment, including the front door, and the place is not ran professionally the people that work there and never follow through and helping you I would not recommend this place for anybody
