Placed a reservation for a minivan two weeks prior to needed date. Emphasized that I need a seven passenger vehicle. 45 minutes before my scheduled pickup time (0900), I received a call from someone named Wyatt at the Ames location informing me that they had no minivan for me, and the only seven-passenger vehicles they had available were unavailable to be rented due to recall. Wyatt assured me he would make some calls and get back to me. I said by the end of the day would work.

When I finally called at 1620 after hearing nothing from Wyatt, I was informed he worked a half day that day, but the message had been passed along. They still had no vehicles for me. I canceled the reservation at that point.but what did I really cancel? It's not like they had fulfilled the reservation, or given me anything at all, really.

I'd say that I'll never do business with Enterprise again, but that would be false since I wasn't afforded the opportunity to give them any money or receive any services in the first place. It's a shame that two weeks notice wasn't enough time to secure what is, apparently, the only minivan in the entirety of the Enterprise fleet.

I will give them one star for the initial encounter when I placed the reservation. Someone named Mason Wild helped me, and was courteous and professional. It's a shame that he and I both wasted our time reserving a vehicle I would never receive.

Good luck getting a car. Enterprise lets you reserve a vehicle from their website and shows that they have vehicles available. However, after booking a reservation on their website they call you to tell you that they won’t have a vehicle until a week after your reservation.

A very well run Enterprise. Everything was up to my standards and they had good communication. Mason did a great job following up with me as I returned the car on a Sunday. Highly recommend.

Wyatt is a total pro. Quickly got my reservation pulled up, fulfilled, and charged. Waiting room was busy, but he kept checking in with customers and staff so that everyone was informed and taken care of.

I scheduled 6 WEEKS in advance for a full size truck and followed up 3 weeks later just to be safe. They’d lost all my info. Set it all up again and followed up 4 days before pickup and they had my name, but had lost my insurance info. On the day and scheduled time of pickup they didn’t have a full size truck for me, only an SUV…. That wasn’t ready yet. Said I’d have to wait for them to check it in and clean it before I could have it. Ended up in a minivan AND paying out of pocket bc they’d lost my insurance info. Only reason it’s 2 stars instead of 1 is bc staff was well-mannered.

Good experience with the Ames, Iowa location. Needed the vehicle for longer than anticipated, and they coordinated everything with my insurance and the body shop that was repairing my vehicle. All staff I encountered were very helpful.

I reserved a car for pick up in Ames, Iowa, on 7-15-23 one way to Des Moines Airport. I confirmed with the rental office on 7-13-23. On 7-15-23, at
621am, I got a voice-mail from the rental office telling me they are canceling my reservation because they don't have a car for me. Horrible.

I recently rented a car from Enterprise Rental Car in Ames, Ia. The staff was extremely helpful (Wyatt E Thorson) with the walk through and inspection of the vehicle. I was in and out in less than fifteen minutes. The car was very clean and well maintained. The return of the car was as easy as when I picked the vehicle up. The price was well worth it. I would highly recommend Enterprise to all my family and friends.

If I could, I would give this location 0 stars. I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and then 3 days before I leave, I am told that they will not have any vehicles available and essentially I was out of luck. I received a confirmation email and number but I guess that means almost nothing as they can still book over that.

I ended up having to go to the West Des Moines Location as it was the only place with any cars left on such a short notice. This ended up costing me an extra $120. The Ames Enterprise location was no help in getting another reservation made.

I will never rent a car from this location ever again as the customer service was horrendous.

I've rented from here twice and have had a pleasant experience each time. The cars are well maintained and the customer service is excellent. I was helped by I believe Mason and he was outstanding!

It took an entire month for us to be able to get a loaner vehicle after our family vehicle was hit & totaled by a teen driver. Our reservation kept being delayed/canceled because they didn't have any vehicles. The final time we called a week before to verify as well as calling the day before to verify they would have a vehicle & were assured that they did. After my father-in-law & husband drove 40 minutes & were down the street from enterprise, he was called & told they didn't have a vehicle for us. He went in & took anything he could because we had to have a vehicle that day. Aside from them never having a vehicle that could hold our family of 6, pushing out our reservation a month, the manager Jens claiming he never spoke directly to my insurance agent the week prior even though it was noted on their system per another employee's observations & my insurance agent told me specifically he spoke to "the manager Jens", going back and forth about if we were charged a second day or only being charged a couple hours, being condescending and then trying to push everything off onto the location where we dropped the vehicle off at. This was an absolutely horrible experience. If we ever are in need of a rental vehicle again, I think we will just rent a u-haul, less expensive and a lot less of a hassle.

Horrible customer service. I was told I would have a full size pickup waiting for me. I arrived to be told they had no trucks at all. I was given a dodge charger. I needed a truck to transport lumber and tools for work. Their website said they had a F150 or similar avaliable. I drove back to exchange the sportscar for a truck. I was given the runaround and offered a Tacoma the following day. They are running a bait and switch operation.

*update. They promised me that I would be able to pick up a Tacoma last night. I emptied all of my tools out of the car, filled it with gas, and went to the office. "Sorry, we do not have any trucks to rent. "
This is literally the third time in three days I've returned to pick up a truck, after they've told me they would have one and been denied.
How do you conduct a business where you lie to people? It's not the fact you don't have trucks, it's the fact your management lies directly to customers as a business model.

This is the worst service that I ever had. I made reservations for premium Chive at Enterprise at Ames location before 2 weeks ago. At the time of the pickup they give me another car (Standard SUV) with the same price (the standard SUV half price than the premium) and when I show them that I reserve premium they said unfortunately we don’t have that car. Really it pad service and I cancel my travel because there’s no time to find another car.

Ridiculously overpriced - I was quoted $65 to rent an economy car for seven hours (10 am to 5 pm) while my car was at an auto repair shop (Wheelock's). When I told the fast-talking phone CSR (aka sales rep) I wasn't interested in renting a car at that excessive rate, he did not want to take no for an answer. I ended the call and ordered a Lyft ride.

RUDE! Guy that was there on a Sunday couldn't have been more nasty to me. Snapped that they were closed, I tried to explain I was there because my insurance company sent me to get a car. Yelled at me said they were closed, don't you understand that? We won't have anything for YOU until Thursday! Asked if he could call an Uber for us because I couldn't walk home again with my muscle disease, and he could do yell at me and make me cry. Left me standing there in tears!
