Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Ames

This stay suited my purposes nicely as a one night, single traveler stay. It’s economical and no-frills, and my room was quiet and clean. Management was very helpful and kind. They even were able to accommodate a late check out for me so I could get a little more work done before departing.

Much better than the Courtyard down the road. Rooms are clean. Staff is very friendly. If your room is on the front side, there is some road noise. Other than that, and excellent place to stay.

DO NOT waste your money on this hotel. The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Ames, IA, does not understand the meaning of "suite". For $285/night, we got a standard size hotel room with a decorative half wall between the bed and the small sofa/desk/TV area. Hey, Marriott! The generally accepted definition of a "suite" is an accommodation with at least two separate rooms, separated but a full wall with a door that can be closed. You can't simply put a tiny fridge and microwave in a regular hotel room, call it a suite, and charge $285 for it. Or, as a wise man once said, you can paint a cow brown, put a saddle on it, and call it a horse, but it will still be a cow. You should be ashamed of yourselves for renting a cow at horse prices. You should give us our money back.

Alyssa was AMAZING! By far the best experience and service I've had from a hotel. I recommended this place to my boss and now all our workers stay there with a great rate.

Friendly, very exceptional front desk young lady. Rooms adequate, doesn't have the newer tv's where you can hook into your personal Netflix, YouTube or Prime accounts though and cable went in and out so I missed the end of the Forensic Files episode that I've seen (in hotels) an inappropriate amount of times. Rooms are older but I like the Marriott brand rooms with the tub/shower combo rather than the glass door shower that some of the newer ones have.

Horrible customer service. Called hotel numerous times for 6 days in a row and no one could help. Only manager who was never available or on-site. Left numerous messages and never received a call back from Liz Minter. Sweet girl at front desk tried calling her when I was checking in and asked Liz about my calls and Liz hung up on her as I was standing there. She should not be a manager. I was just looking to adjust my days as my family and I are sick. We are not looking for money back. I will never stay at a Marriott again as no one can help you. She should not be in this role as she has no etiquette or customer service skills.

Wow! What excellent service! Alyssa went above and beyond every request we had. We stayed here for my niece's wedding and it was absolutely fabulous! Very quiet, room was clean, breakfast was great and location was excellent. I will be staying here from now on because of Alyssa's help, friendliness and kindness. I was not familiar with the area and she gave us great advice. Thanks so much Alyssa!

Pretty clean place. Workers there are more friendly than some of the places I have been. Simply loved it!

Too expensive. Rooms were only average. Breakfast was great with cheese omelets, sausage, toast, waffles, cereal, fruit, coffee.

Stayed here for 3 weeks. Nothing to complain good hotel, good and clean rooms, amazing staff, average breakfast and all day long coffee and tea. Plenty of parking available at site.

Ok hotel and apparently one of the better ones in the area. Rooms are very clean but a little outdated and have some fixtures that don’t work or missing or wobbly pieces (ac cover was loose and one of the night lights were not working). Breakfast is much better than what other hotels of this level serve. Overall very convenient location if you’re visiting ISU (about 7-10 minutes drive) …

Stayed in Ames on our way to Minnesota. Our room was nice and breakfast was good. Close to I35.

Overall, very nice visit. Happy with the fitness and pool area. Rooms are a bit small, but have nice amenities. Very quite during my stay. Decent breakfast options. Staff were all friendly.

Our stay at the Fairfield was really great! When we arrived, the refrigerator in our room was broken, Alyssa was able to upgrade us in to a better room with no extra charge! We had a small snafu at the pool where the circulation vents were broken, making the pool too unbearable for my family but the staff clearly communicated with us and by the next day, the issue was fixed. The staff at this hotel went above and beyond and they really made our trip enjoyable! I want to give a special thanks to Alyssa and Nicole for being so gracious with all of our requests! You guys were top tier!

Just wanted to say that it’s a very nice a clean hotel I would highly recommend this place. I was having trouble finding a hotel everything was booked but was able to find one here and I’m glad I did, the front desk girl Alyssa was extremely helpful and nice she got me a room really quick and helped me get whatever I needed a very nice young lady. Like I said would highly recommend 10 out of 10

Everything I experienced at this hotel was great from check in to check out. While there as a bit of delay waiting for someone to arrive to check in the front desk clerk was apologetic and super nice.
The room was huge and comfortable and well lit.
My boys loved the pool and I liked that there was a little outdoor patio next to the pool room to enjoy.
Breakfast was basic but good.
Overall an enjoyable experience and we will use this hotel again!

Nice and quiet with very comfortable beds and awesome pillows. My favorite when I'm in Ames

My parents came into town for a surprise birthday party for my sister-in-law. They tried to get a room where everyone else was staying but the hotel was sold out.

They were very impressed with Nicole. Her professionalism, courtesy and service was top notch. Very accommodating.

The room was nice and clean and very comfortable.

The breakfast was very wholesome and offered alot of variety.

They said they would definitely return again to this hotel when they're in the area.

Will stay again! My three kids and I stayed last weekend. When we arrived I was struggling with getting everyone and our luggage inside. Your front desk clerk Alyssa C. Was quick to come help us! She was very friendly and helped me get all the bags in door and up to our room. Once we were in our room she made sure we didn't need anything else before leaving. She had a smile on her face the entire time and was very sweet. After she left I realized we needed a few extra pillows, I called down and she had them to us in a flash. She made our entire trip so much more pleasant so much so that this is the first hotel review I've ever posted. I wanted to be sure she was recognized for her hard work and excellent customer service! Thank you Alyssa
