Green Castle Recreation Area reviews
12 Green Castle is a great place to walk, picnic, play volleyball, take bird and buffalo pictures, canoe and more.
The hiking trails are always well maintained and safe. Beaver damage is the worst we've ever seen and a vest number of Ash trees have succumed to Emerald ash borers but beauty is everywhere.
We came here to fish and caught allot of moss. There were some sunfish and blue gills but the game fish were elusive.
Fished on 6/26/22. Pond has ALOT of moss making fishing hard. Caught baby blue gill o my. Park needs to invest is grass carp to clean up area! It was disappointing at a 35 minute drive.
I love the place. It's too bad the dnr is going to ruin it by putting a campground on it. All good things must come to an end I guess. I hope you guys make alot of money exploiting it!
We really enjoyed our 2.2 mile hike here. My kids liked the playground, as well as seeing the bison and swans. There are portable restrooms near all three shelters. The park map shows prairie trails, but we couldn't find any. Highly recommend visiting this park.
I absolutely love this place. I go there for catching bluegill (bait) for catfishing. Its always money and the scenery mesmerizing sometimes. I love Iowa country.
Clean park, nice shelter house with a port-a-john. The lake is pretty weedy. No boat motors, paddle only so the water is really clear. Will be kayaking here soon.
There was two people cleaning that was nice. But the lake is full of weeds. Very difficult to fish.
The lake and grounds are nice. Pretty cool seeing the Bison and Swans on the land adjacent to the lake. However there is a lot of garbage around the shore. Beavers are also destroying a lot of the nicer trees, unfortunately.
We like to check out the bison & swans. Nice park. Will try kayaking there this year. Several people ice fishing on it this winter.
Great place nestled in a quiet setting.good for taking the kids fishing, or a family outing not sure what watercraft they allow kayaking would be ok
